Answer This Question

A:  Inexpensive sometimes not the best way to go . After using 3 different one ( shinny aluminum like , the plastic like one . The best one is the one on the picture : easy to cut , easy to stay in place and really reducing cracking noise . Definitely go with the one in the picture . Thank you.

A:  best underlayment for under vinyl planks is QuietWalk LV - thin and dense and properly supportive of the flooring for long lasting results. https://www.homedepot.com/p/QuietWalk-100-sq-ft-x-3-ft-x-33-34-ft-x-1-4mm-Acoustical-Underlayment-with-Vapor-Barrier-for-All-Vinyl-Plank-Flooring-QWLV100/306837487

        Answer This Question

A:  Basically, there should be no appreciable difference in my opinion

        by|Aug 12, 2020

A:  The only difference is the built-in lip and tape system in QuietWalk. This allows you to not purchase additional tape to seal up the seams of underlayment.

A:  Yes, denser product. It would work for 6mm laminate.

              Answer This Question

A:  Use duct tape to tape runs of underlay to each other, that should be sufficient, then the weight of the flooring should anchor things

A:  You can staple the underlayment to the subfloor or use duct tape to help the underlayment from bunching up.

                A:  R-Value is 0.58.

                by|Apr 10, 2020

A:  The R-value of closed-cell foam is R-6.5-7 per inch. At 1/8" the R Value is less than 1.

                  by|Apr 14, 2020

A:  Do not know R value, ask the store or check package, I assume it would be low

A:  We suggest doing a calcium chloride test on your concrete to know how much your slab is emitting moisture. Our underlayment can handle up to .423 water vapor transmission rate which the calcium chloride test will provide. To answer your question - yes. You can also use both product to have complete moisture protection (vapor barrier) , sound absorption (underlayment), thermal insulation (underlayment) & compression resistance (underlayment) to help your floor feel more solid.

A:  Yes, I used it as an underlayment for life proof vinyl flooring about 2 years back. It's worked really well. They say life proof luxury Vinyl already has a softening layer underneath, I however added this to smoothen out the minor blemishes in the floor before laying Vinyl flooring. I was replacing my carpet with Vinyl in my basement, so in addition to making the floor surface smooth, it also has made the floor warmer and softer to walk.
