            Answer This Question

A:  I’ve never used cellulose, so you may want to check with the manufacturer. That said. 24” O.C. is a standard joist spacing, so 4” shouldn’t be a problem. Keep in mind, this product lists at 3.7R per inch, so depending on where you live, 4” (14.8R) may be a bit shallow... I recommend you check the recommendations on R value for your area to make sure you’re installing enough.

A:  Yes, 24” O.C. is extremely common joist spacing. I’ve used this numerous times with no issues.

A:  Yes should be fine or up to 5/8”. make sure if your installing insulation that use the correct insulation for the timber depth. Sometimes the incorrect insulation will push against the drywall and you have popped screws.

                        Q:How much Sheetrock I need in 4460 sq.ft ?

                        Answer This Question

A:  Each sheet is 48 sq. ft. (4x12). So 4460 divided by 48 = approx. 93 sheets. Then you will have some waste but without a detailed look at the room, I would guess about 10% extra. So my guess is around 102 sheets. Whatever you don't use you can return.

A:  No way to answer that. We have no idea what doors, windows, or anything else is in that area. Just measure each wall and do the math.

                          by|Jul 27, 2019

A:  I would say about 93. I got this by taking 4x12=48, then 4460÷48= 92.92. So 93 sheets. I always buy 2 extra for just in case.

A:  It depends on what size of sheets your getting. You just divide the square footage nu the square footage of the sheet. For example, if your using 4x8 sheets, there's 32 square feet in one sheet. 4460/32 is 139.375 or 140. Sheets. If 4x12 sheets, you divide by 48 and so on. Buy 5 or 6 extra sheets for scrap waste and damage.

A:  The drywall is sold by the single sheet. They are shipped to the store in pairs, with the front faces together... but when you order them you are buying a single sheet each. If you order five sheets, for instance... You will get two pairs of two still taped together, and one individual sheet on top of them. I hope that helps... Good luck :-)

A:  They come together as 2 but price is for 1 sheet. I assume that 2 are bundled together, because people tend to buy in even numbers. If you need odd number they cut the paper holding them together. Price again is for only 1 sheet.

This wall that I'm looking to finish in the garage is facing the exterior of the house (not interior). Would I be able to just buy extra (since i'm getting them at the bulk price) and finish the one wall in my garage? or do I have to purchase a different type?

A:  No 1/2” won’t pass. Regular drywall is NOT considered non-combustible, type X (or Firecode C) IS because of the glass fibers in the gypsum usually in 5/8” drywall. Always check with the manufacturers specs and local codes.

A:  Generally drywall is not fire rated until 5/8" thick. So it's intended for non-fire rated applications like indoors or pretty much anywhere that is not the wall separating your garage and main living space or the wall around a fireplace.
