Answer This Question
A: So for doors its recommended to have the opening be 2" wider and taller than you door. so for a 36x80 door or bifold the rough opening (2x4 to 2x4) should be 38"x82"
The finished opening for this bifold should be at 80 11/16" x 36". This give you clearance in the height for the track and in the width to allow proper function of the bifold.

A: Consider leaving 1/2” off on either side. For the vertical door opening consider leaving 1” cleaner because the guide rail is about 1/2”. Basically the bottom can have 1/4” or less clearance as long as not grinding against the floor.

A: No you would need to trim 1/4" off the bottom of the bifold.
by|Dec 11, 2022
A: No it will not. Need more clearance for the hardware

A: Yes, the largest bifold in width that we provide is for a 36" opening. The bifold itself is 35 11/16", 2 of those would leave give you 71 3/8"

A: If the doors are 40 inches opened, you sure can using 2 sets of doors.

A: Yes that should work at 80". My vertical opening was 81.25, so I had to install a 1"x1" strip of maple for the upper rail to attach. You'll be fine at 80". Be sure to measure three spots (top, middle, bottom and left, right, center) along the horizontal and vertical.
