Q:How many spikes are in kit and will I need more
by|Aug 30, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, I can't remember how many come, but they suggest spacing of 10. I like to put it closer particularly around a curve or around a sprinkler box. Buy extra spikes at the same time.

A:  Hi Sandy, the 60-foot No-Dig Edging kit includes18 anchoring spikes and 3 connectors. Every installation is different, so whether you need additional spikes depends upon your installation shape, soil type, and climate. If you feel you might need additional spikes, we recommend to go ahead and purchase the additional spikes just to be safe. Keep in mind, we do not recommend to spike too frequently (and certainly not in every tab). Spiking the edging too frequently will restrict movement and can cause unfavorable results. We hope this helps.

Q:Can this be used as edging for artificial turf?
          by|Jul 23, 2021

          Answer This Question

A:  Is the artifical turf you want to use, going over dirt. If it is then yes you could use the edging, the spikes then can be pounded into the dirt to hold the edging in place.

          by|Jul 23, 2021

A:  Don't see why not. I assume the opposite side of the edging is some type of mulch, so the spiked lip of the edging would be on the mulch side of the artificial turf. If you want the keep the artificial turf from moving, place the spiked lip under the artificial turf. I used it that way to hold landscape pavers on the outside of a long walk. It keeps them from shifting out from the adjacent pavers when the riding mower turns while on top of them.

A:  Why not? It cleans up the look of a real lawn and should do the same for an artificial lawn.

Q:does grass sneak under the edge and come up where it is not wanted or does the edging go into the ground enough to stop the grass?

            Answer This Question

A:  Before I put my edging down, I used a straight edged shovel to remove any grass that would be in the path of the edging. Then I started to lay the edging in place, using one spike to anchor the edging. If you have a curve in your layout I would anchor the spot where you make the bend., then one spike at the end of your layout. I have not had any grass grow up under the edging. If you need extra spikes HD sells them.

A:  If you put spikes at least every other hole it helps keep grass out.

Q:is this pounded into the ground

A:  Vigoro 20 ft. No-Dig Edging installs quickly and easily right out of the box. Just position edging around any planting bed or tree for a simple and time-saving professional look. The L profile design offers stability and provides flexibility for making curves. Absolutely no digging required for installation Easiest to install. Includes spikes to secure the edging to the ground.

              by|Jul 19, 2021

A:  Yes! Spikes are included with the edging.

              by|Jul 19, 2021

A:  The edging itself is not pounded into the ground, the plastic stakes with the edging are hammered through the hole in the edging to prevent the edging from shifting. The edging itself is placed on the ground, staked (as just described) and then the mulch in the landscape bed is pushing onto the lip the stakes passed through. Q:Since this sits flat on the ground, how well does it prevent grass runners from growing under and coming up on the other side?

              Answer This Question

A:  It does help keep the grass out-but there will be some that will grow/spread to the other side of the edging.

              by|Aug 19, 2021

A:  I dont know what a grass runner refers to but it doesn't prevent weeds or grass from growing under it. It simply creates a division between 2 sides, to separate colors of dg or types of crushed rocks, or colors of mulch, or types of plants, whatever you choose. Grass and weeds don't grow under it they will grow along the surface since a few inches of plastic, which this is made of, will not prevent them from growing.

                Q:Are stakes included?

                Answer This Question

A:  There were 2 packs included. 6 - 8 stakes in each bag? I was surprised that they included any. I purchased 2 bags without knowing but ended up needing all of them. To be safe, get 4 bags plus the 2 that are included and you will have enough for the 60 feet of edging. If you are not going to use all of the 60 feet of edging do some math. 6 bags of stakes = 60 Feet of edging 1 bag per 10 feet Your project in Feet : X / 10 = # of bags needed (round up)

Q:I need to make a "L" shape. Can this be placed at a 90 degree angle? If not, is there a corner connector sold separately that will fit this product?

                  Answer This Question

A:  I used it in a circle and/or subtle curve. It will likely bend 90º but may require cutting off the tab for the spike to hold it to the ground. Also, it may snap at the 90º corner. Another option is to cut the edging between two of the tabs and joint them in a 90º corner, overlapping the tabs to hammer a spike through both to hold the pieces together.

A:  It might not make perfect 90 degree angles, but with a little work you could.. You might need extra hold down pegs, which they sell at HD. Where you make a 90 degree bend I would put a stake in the hole before the bend and then one after the bend. Repeat at each corner, then go and see where else you need to stake down.

A:  Yes I have it on either side of my sidewalk to contain the mulch/stone in my planting beds. It stands about two inches high when installed and keeps my sidewalk clean from debris.
