A:  No,I called Wen and spoke to customer support and they said they do not currently offer a keyless chuck for that model. I was surprised and disappointed because I would like one too.

Q:I need something for small at home projects with resin and plastic related materials. Would this be a good alternative for a low cost dremel? Basically wearing down the sharp and excess edges of resin pieces.

        Answer This Question

A:  I use mine for trimming horse hooves. The bar on a horse hoof is as hard as plastic or resin, so I would think it would do it.

A:  This is THE BEST alternative to ANY Dremel!!! Dremel has not altered their product in years. Wen has a separate power on/off switch which is inset to prevent accidental power on. It also has a separate rotary wheel speed control with "click stops." This is also inset. If you've used Dremel products you know that they have only a single slider which boyh turns power on & off and adjusts the speed rather indiscriminately. With Dremel products it's easy to accidentally turn on or accidentally turn up to maximum speed. The Wen comes with the flex shaft at the same price as the Dremel without it. I have to give props to my wife for finding this valuable tool for me! Stephen Johnson

Q:Can this tool be used to cut away a plastic mounting nut in a tight space and then also be used to cut drywall?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes. It cuts plastic very easily, and works it's way though metal as well. You should be able to cut drywall with no problem.

A:  Yes for both questions. However, if you must cut a lot of drywall, I would suggest a heavier tool, ie. a roto Zip. The WEN rotary tool is just a bit light for many drywall cuts in my opinion.

Q:1.) I am looking at this specific tool because is is only 1.5lb and I have arthritis. Is this tool comfortable to hold? (Im thinking the cable will be best for me?) 2.) I work in light metals (thin copper, tin, aluminum). Does this have all the necessary tools for sanding the edges of the metal shapes smooth? What other bits might I need that are not included? 3.) Do I need do also order the rotary tool chuck? Thank you for your help!

          Answer This Question

A:  I can answer that you might want the rotary chuck because of your arthritis. Other than that, rotary tools are great for many applications, but they do tend to want to "walk" along the project surface. You have much more precise control sanding, filing and grinding by hand.

A:  1.) This tool should be fine for you. The grip is fairly thick, (think thick sharpie/marker) and it doesn't vibrate very much even at the highest speeds. 2.) I have this tool and there are suitable bits included, although there are many other ones you can buy. I would recommend a few diffrent bits like this one except in a few different sizes and shapes: https://www.dremel.com/en_US/products/-/show-product/accessories/9901-tungsten-carbide-cutter#:~:text=Dremel%20Tungsten%20Carbide%20Carving%20Bits,virtually%20any%20Dremel%20rotary%20tool. 3.) Everything you need to get started is included in the kit. If you have to change collets a lot, I would recomend getting something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Change-Keyless-Universal-Replacement-Dremel/dp/B07CVDWTNV/ref=sr_1_3?crid=20WRZUA26P2L&dchild=1&keywords=quick+change+dremel+chuck&qid=1597857087&sprefix=quick+change+dremel%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-3 I hope this helps!

A:  I think you would be happy with it. The flex shaft makes it a breeze to work with and it comes with a small plastic box of various grinders, etc.

Q:Would the bits that come with this, could I carve decently tough river rocks?

            Answer This Question

A:  I fully support Stephens answer but would like to add also that there are some assessory sets with additional sizes of the diamond encrusted bits that are reasonably priced. If you do want to go ahead and get some time in practicing you will want extras

            by|Dec 12, 2022

A:  There are some diamond-impregnated bits that could grind away at river rock, but the bit will be very hard to control. Even in less challenging tasks the bits often want to "wander" around on the surface. Perhaps if you put the rock into a vise and have a very steady hand, and set the rpm's to the optimum speed you might get good results. It may take a lot of practice.

A:  It actually comes with 2 collets. Unless your going to do some real heavy carving the collets supplied should be suffice.

              by|Feb 17, 2021

A:  Your rotary tool is pre-installed with a 1/8” collet and includes a 3/32” collet as an accessory.
