A:  Yes, They protect the burners as well as use the drippings to flavor what you are cooking. If your are worn out, replace them to avoid further problems.

A:  I think they protect your burners from getting grease and other drippings on them. All the grease and drippings that are collected are supposed to give flavor when you heat up grill next time.

A:  Yes they spread the heat out evenly as it rises up towards the grill. Otherwise you will have cool spots between the burners and also without them you'll clog your burners with all the grease and fat that drips down.

A:  Hello Davidk, once the flavorizer bars have developed holes or cracks in them and can no longer protect the burners from dripping grease they should be replaced. How long they last is dependent on how well you clean them, how often you grill, as well as local environmental conditions. Thanks!

A:  Obviously,if they are falling apart you should replace them. You can still grill, but they also protect your burners!

A:  From my experience,it all depends upon the amount of grilling one does and if you cover your grill or not. This is my second Weber grill in 20 years. I replaced the flavorizer bars about every 3 or 4 years. We use the grill a couple times a week year round unless there is a bunch of snow which is rare. I replaced my originals on the current Genesis 330 grill we have at the beginning of their 3rd year. A couple were in bad shape. The replacements I bought are on the end of their 2nd season and still look good. Not sure the stainless last any longer because my engineer neighbor says the metal oxidation occurs from the extreme heating and cooling cycles, not necessarily the elements unless one leaves the grill lid open and exposed to the weather. A:  Hello, these grates will fit Genesis E-310 models with front mounted control knobs made between 2011 and 2016. For Genesis E-310 models with side mounted control knobs, which were made between 2007 and 2010, you'd want flavorizer bar set # 7539. Thanks!

A:  Depends on how diligent you are with cleaning, left uncleaned the porcelin coated will last longer. Steel that is heated and cooled over and over will break down, stainless or not.
