A:  The Halley ceiling fan comes with an included remote control and the included remote control does need to be used to properly operate this fan.

A:  Not really. Flush mount fans are designed to be flush mounted. There isn't any place to attach a down rod. I would suggest finding a similar fan that is designed to be hung with a down rod.
