thank you for your inquiry into our Whirlpool Brand Appliances. If you have a copper water line, you can just connect that to the Refrigerator per the installation instructions and not use the plastic hose. We hope this helps.

A: Yes, you may attached the copper line to the refrigerator. You will be able to pull the fridge from the wall maybe one time (depending on who does the pulling). Eventually said copper water line will kink and then break, and you'll hope whoever does it has a good knowledge of where the main water shut-off is located.
Do yourself a favor, install the plastic/braided metal line to your copper (get the brass junction fitting as well). Otherwise at some point you can expect a big expense repairing water damage.
