Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out! Our Wolman CopperCoat Green Wood Preservative is a treatment designed to protect wood against insects and rot, and contains copper naphthenate. If this product was spilled on wood that was already treated with CopperCoat, there is no issue, and the excess may be wiped away from the surface. This will not cause any issues with re-treating the deck in the Spring, and you can reapply as you normally would. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

A:  Hi Steven, thank you for reaching out! We recommend applying our Wolman CopperCoat when outside temperatures are between 50-90°F, and when no precipitation is expected within 24 hours. If it becomes cooler at night, that is fine, just be sure to check the forecast for the dew point, as a heavy dew in the first 24 hours can have the same impact as rain. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

            Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for asking. We do not recommend mixing Rust-Oleum Wolman WoodLife CopperCoat with any other products. It may affect the curing and/or performance of the products. However, once this product has been applied and is allowed to dry completely, It is possible to paint or stain the surface. If you use water-based paint as a topcoat, then we recommend allowing a month of cure time to ensure adhesion. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

A:  It has a bit of a smell but if it's going inside a wall the smell will disappear (eventually).

A:  Only safe thing to do with wood damaged by termites is to replace it. I assume pesticides have been applied to kill and block the termites. Treatments are preventative, can’t restore damaged wood.

A:  We appreciate your interest, Alex! However, we do not offer a product to repair termite damage at this time. Rust-Oleum Wolman Woodlife Coppercoat is designed to prevent termite attacks on exterior wood. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

A:  Happy to help, Katherine. Rust-Oleum Wolman Woodlife CopperCoat prevents attacks from termites, powder post beetles, and other wood-boring insects. However, it wouldn't be able to protect against wasps from taking degraded wood fibers. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

A:  The answer said it was safe after it is dry to be used around cattle. I read somewhere else that you have to wear gloves to handle it at all times. So if it is safe for cattle why do you have to wear gloves after it has dried? .

A:  Thank you for reaching out! We recommend allowing the treated wood to cure for 24 hours prior to allowing cattle in the area. Once our Wolman CopperCoat Green Wood Preservative has cured, the copper naphthenate content is not present in concentrations harmful to livestock. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Q:Can this product by used on untreated southern yellow pine porch flooring that will have an oil based semi-transparent flooring stain applied after it has dried? I am concerned that the product may be absorbed into the skin even after it has dried and been top-coated with the stain.

A:  Sure, but the product will turn untreated wood green - how will that affect your semitransparent stain’s color? I doubt that there would be any serious concern about absorption through the skin (presumably via bare feet) after the preservative has dried AND the stain has been added on top of it and and also dried. But if that’s a concern (and assuming you are using semi transparent stain so the wood grain will show through, and assuming the green color of the preservative doesn’t ruin the look) you could just top it off with a coat of clear oil based polyurethane to completely seal it.
