Answer This Question

A:  Yes, they come with both wall mounts and stands.

by|Dec 19, 2022

A:  Yes! See the mounting instructions when pairing in the ecobee app.

    by|Dec 14, 2022

A:  Short answer is yes they can. Pull the tab on the back and there is a piece of double sided tape to stick them to the wall. Had them for about a year and they are still there.

A:  Perfect way to round out the ECOBEE! Gives perfect temp in every room. I’ve had homes with both ECOBEE and NEST, but would always choose ECOBEE!

A:  Ecobee system will give you a warning everytime the temperature goes below 50. You might need to get a second system for that.

A:  I believe you could do that since you can add to any floor. It gives the temp of all sensors at any time so you could check it. Not sure how a warning would work just for one sensor but it might be possible.

A:  Hi Marc! SmartSensor is designed for a battery life of up to 5 years. You will receive an alert on the smart thermostat and ecobee app when the battery is low. It sounds like we need to take a closer look at your SmartSensor if you are having an issue with battery life so quickly. Please send an email to support@ecobee.com so we can make this right. Always happy to help!

A:  Yes, one of mine came with a very low battery, and the other won’t connect, so it’s probably got a dead battery as well.

A:  Kind of. It takes the average of sensors participating and follows the regular schedule. So if you wanted to monitor just one room, you would have to turn off participation of all other sensors during that period, which you can do.

A:  Hi there! ecobee SmartSensor is desiged to work with a single CR-2477 battery. They can be readily found in most hardware stores as well as from online retailers. We do not recommend using a different type of battery.

Q:What method does the sensor use to detect that the room is occupied? For example would it detect that someone is sleeping in a bedroom if they are relatively motionless sleepers? What are the limitations with that?

A:  Not really sure of the method, but I can verify that it CANNOT tell that a room is occupied when everyone is sleeping soundly.

A:  We have cats and occasionally it thinks a bedroom is occupied when it’s just them but it isn’t an issue. The sensors (when enabled based on the comfort setting) are used as an average. You can disable them for certain periods to compensate.

                        by|Feb 18, 2020

A:  The sensors don't recognize people sleeping. So they probably rely on motion, not heat.

A:  Uses the smaller flat watch type batteries CR2032... the batteries usually last several months before needing changing, but that can vary on the activity in that particular room.
