Left residue on floor - Caution
I purchased this tape yesterday at Home depot. Used it to adhere red paper to protect my wood floors while contractors worked today. Contractors done, removed paper to see residue left by tape. Looks very stuck on, couldn't remove at all. WTH, any suggestions to remove?

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear of the trouble. There are several cleaning options (test first in discrete area): a citrus-based cleaner, a hydrocarbon solvent or turpentine, or a toluene-based adhesive cleaner. Use a cheesecloth or loose nap fabric rags to allow adhesive residue to embed into the fabric. After using cleaners, rinse surface with large amounts of clean water. If the adhesive is highly cured, scraping may be required to break up the adhesive to remove it. We would like to gather more details about your experience. Please connect with our team at 1-800-494-3552 Mo-Fri 8am-5pm CT. Thanks again, and we look forward to your call. Please provide reference # 6085718 when you call. Thank you again.
    Great for my wood floors
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use this tape recently on a fresh wood floor finish that we had to recoat one bad area. We used it along with the 3m plastic to crate a barrier on the floor where we were pulling the new finish. It was very gentle and left no residue It pulled off very easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a mural painter for over 33 years now. I've used over 170 miles of ScotchBlue Tape in my career and cannot say enough good things about this product. Every wall I paint and everything within the murals are masked with ScotchBlue. Whether it's the Delicate Surface or the traditional Walls and Wood Floors Blue, you cannot go wrong with this product.

        pulls paint from ceiling
I bought this product because of its reputation. I put the tape all around my windows, door frames and the ceiling. When I pulled off the tape two days later, some of the tape came off in pieces and the tape pulled the paint off of the ceiling. The ceiling paint was only about five years old. I am very disappointed in this product.

It's a good product, but I still prefer the Original version instead. As with any type of blue tape, the trick to getting really sharp edges is that you have rub it down and press it down with your fingers well. If you don't take the time to press it down well, then there is a chance the paint can seep under it.

I could not be more dissatisfied with this tape. After spending thousands of dollars, months of my time, and almost two hundred on paint alone, this tape single-handedly made my project look terrible. Some sections of it worked great, and left a crisp edge, but its the sections that did not work that made it terrible. It bled through, pealed up existing paint, and would break off into multiple pieces while trying to remove. Even though I used a utility knife to trim along the edge to allow a seamless removal, this tape pealed up paint, primer, and even got down to the drywall in some sections. After being on the wall only a few hours, it was stickier than any other tape. Now I will have to spend another $200 and repaint the whole room again, thanks to ScotchBlue "Delicate" surface Painter's tape. At least this time I paint I will be smarter and use a different brand of tape.

            Tape Equivalent of Safety Scissors
Sticks just enough to peel paint off delicate surfaces, but not enough to stop the paint from bleeding through under the edge. This tape feels like wax paper and sticks as well as a post-it note.

            Disaster!
I always buy cheap painter's tape at the dollar store but this one time I needed the tape to work perfectly. While it's always a big risk to use tape on a painted surface, I was fooled by the 'delicate surface' description. I ended up ruining my project with this expensive tape. The adhesive is too strong!

            Don't even bother!
You'll end up with bleed through if you've got any texture at all on your wall. Edge-lock is anything but that! Now I have another project- touching up my other paint where I had bleed through after my accent wall was complete.

Waste of money, do not buy!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tape to tape off a pattern on my dining room wall, thinking it was the best tape out. I was sadly mistaken, it definitely does not "edge lock". I spent two whole weekends working on this just to habe it look terrible because the tape bled through. I will never buy this product or anything from this company again!!!

                Doesn't work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product does not work.  I painted stripes on my son's bedroom wall several years ago with standard blue painter's tape and it came out perfect (blue & red picture).  He is moving to a new room and I wanted to replicate it without the red stripe and decided to upgrade to Edge Lock tape this time (blue & grey picture) -- it came out terrible!  Think I need to paint over it-- what a waste!!

                  3M 2080EL
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used the 3M 2080 tape with edge lock, didn't work so well. Very disappointed to pay a premium price for what is supposed to be their best tape with very sub-par results. Application was on a rounded corner on a wall with 48 hour old newly applied Behr Marquee paint. First noticed it didn't seem to stick very well so used their technique of brushing it with a dry paint brush after rubbing my fingers along the entire edge. Removed tape after approx. 24 hours after painting, not only did it bleed but it also lifted off the new paint.

                    Edgelock?
Used 2" Frogtape on top and bottom, crisp edges. Unfortunately the smaller details I needed 1" tape. I tried the 3m edgelock and it cost me a lot of heartache. I had to touch up every line, very time consuming.

Fills a niche in the Professionals toolbox
I work primarily on Historic buildings and boats and do a LOT of taping off of sections for sanding, painting or just protection while working nearby. This tape is always in my prep kit in several sizes. I had some edge adhesion issues at first but found that if you wipe down with a damp rag the moisture will trigger the "Edge-Lock" and leave a very crisp line everytime. Even after a week or so it comes off easily if pulled with a sharp crease at a downward angle. I work with a lot of high dollar, high VOC, high tech paints/varnishes on high dollar projects, many that require several coats sanded in between each coat. I often tape to the original tape for the sanding then remove the second layer for the next coat. The one draw back is the printing on the tape, it comes off when wiped down with alcohol or acetone for a final surface cleaning before finish is applied and unless careful the residue can mar the clean prepped area. I wish you made it without the printing in a pro pack at least. Some people call boat owners "Picky", I prefer the term "Particular", they want very high quality finishes, this particular tape helps me provide that. I use lots of different tapes for differing surfaces, projects and processes. This stuff has it's place in my kit that no other tape can match. I use enough that price is always an issue, generally at least 6 rolls per project of the delicate surface tape alone. I'd prefer to pay a bit less of course.

                    HORRIBLE
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used it in my newly re done mudroom to paint the trim, excited to finally be finished I remove the tape and it ruined the paint on the wall I did a week before. Then I used it again on a furniture project and there's not even a straight line, edge lock does not work, look at that paint under the tape.... Ruined my wall and my furniture

Bled past the edge - Pictures attached
Did the tape keep from pulling off the fresh base coat? Yes. Did the tape keep the accent stripe from bleeding at the edge? No. Normally I stick to my Frog tape, but since that requires the base paint to set for 3 days, I gave this tape a try. It adhered to the wall nicely and the edge looked like it was sealed to the wall quite well, but when I was done; well, you look at the pictures.

Over the years many different kinds of tape have come down the pike for do-it-yoursefers and professionals alike. As a professional I know this painter's tape is the very best, especially when I need to tape over recently painted surfaces. The edge lock is also exceptional tape.

Took the paint off - will need to repaint the wall
I paid $14 for this roll of tape. I was going to paint my ceiling and I used it on the wall edges. The tape goes on easy, stays in place and comes off easy, except the paint comes with it. I will need to buy some paint to repaint the wall edges. I am very disappointed. I could have bought artist tape for this amount of money and have guaranteed results. Now I need to spend more money and time to repair the damage.

ScotchBlue is the only tape I use!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a DIY expert and professional design blogger, I've tried many products for my home projects, and Scotch Blue has been the tape that doesn't disappoint! I recently painted a faux etched glass design on an outdoor patio glass table top, using this particular delicate surface tape with Edge-lock. I was working in the hot sun and the tape did not fail me! It adhered well to the glass, the paint didn't bleed under and the tape removed cleanly and easily. I was so very pleased with the results and highly recommend all the different types of ScotchBlue Painter's tapes.

Clean, sharp edges - exactly what I was looking for!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently completed a project in my bathroom: an art deco design on the walls which required clean, sharp edges and many right angled corners. The plastered walls are slightly uneven ('knockdown' finish) and had been painted in semi-gloss white last summer. I had never tried Edge Lock masking tape, but had seen tv commercials and decided to give it a go. It was easy to apply and easy to remove - it was on the walls for a total of 4 days. Due to the plaster finish on the walls, there were a few leaks in places, but far fewer than would have been the case with any of the other masking tapes that I have used in the past, and they were easy to remedy with white semi-gloss applied with an artist's paintbrush. The tape came off very cleanly: it didn't tear and didn't stretch the paint or pull it off. The lines are perfect. I was very impressed, and will only use Edge Lock masking tape for my future painting projects, no matter how simple or complicated they may be.

THIS ENDING UP WITH MY HAVING TO DO MY ENTIRE ROOM OVER HAVING TO PURCHASE ANOTHER 60 DOLLARS WORTH OF PAINT.

It worked for what I needed it for. I prefer the Frog Tape but like to buy a cheaper brand to use on projects where it doesn't matter as much about a straight line. Frog Tape is still the best in my opinion if you are painting a room. But this brand is still better than the cheaper tape. I'd still recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product on freshly painted walls (a little more than 24 hours which the product description led me to believe would be OK) and it peeled the paint. Now I am in the mode of repairing what was a really nice paint job. In my opinion, it isn't worth the extra $$ and most definitely doesn't live up to the hype. I am definitely not a happy ScotchBlue customer right now.

Absolutely the worst painter's tape I have ever used. At first the product would NOT stick to the wall or baseboard. During painting the tape bubbled up and caused my dark paint to poor onto the white baseboard. Now taking the tape off, there is DEFINITELY NO edge lock and delicate is a lie! Ripped off half my wall and now I must spend my afternoon repainting. Worst product ever! I had gone out of my way to find the "delicate" brand and it was a waste of time. You might as well take your luck with no tape before using this awful product. I am submitting pictures and demanding my money back!
