Lousy shims
They won't break off unless you bend them past 90 degrees.

Excellent. I can always keep a half bundle in my tool bag when I manage 20+ units of rentals. I even use these to shim toilets. I know they have toilet shims that are white, but if I'm caulking around the toilet, I can use these.
Composite shims are the way to go. One should never use wood shims if these are available. Wood expands and contracts and can get soft if exposed to water and deteriorate. Termites can also eat them. These are the way to go! Screw them, snap them, cut them, whatever you need!

Great for potentially wet areas. They are easy to snap off but only snap off on the area of ridges and the ridges have to face away from the direction you are pulling too. In some cases, when excess hangs off, I just cut it off with a utility knife or chisel.
I have used these for window and door installs as well on on my shed foundation. I used them to shim a toilet as well. These are a must have for any area that may be wet.

Never again will I use wood shims. These don't split, snap easily without scoring and will not swell or shrink. Top it off with less expensive than wood.

Great shims! Easy to use and size according to your needs. I use these on many applications. I used it to keep my fridge from moving forward when i pull on the door. Also, great to level cabinets, etc.
Pros: Easy to size (Just bend and snap)
Cons: Not as effective as wood shims in some applications.

I needed to level some shelves in the garage. Because the concrete is directly on the ground I was worried about wood shims rotting and thankfully I ran across these in the store. Works perfectly, cuts well when finished leveling. use them just like regular shims.

Love these
Never using wood shims again. These are so much better. Break by hand and don't split.

Much easier to trim than wood shims
For only a few cents more there is no reason to ever use the wood ones again.
They don't rot
Doesn't matter if they get wet
They don't compress like work shims
They don't split when you put a nail or screw through them
They are consistent
They slide easily
They are easy to trim just by snapping
They can support a lot more load than a wood shim
only down side is that it seems to be a waste to use them to spread glue or stir paint, they again they are almost the same price as the wood ones.

Best Shims that don't rot
These shims don't rot so they are perfect for outdoor projects. They are just under $2.00 for 12.

Best shim ever!
This is the best shim I have every used. Never splinters, breaks easily and evenly.
Would buy even if more expensive than the old wooden ones.

Best Shim I've ever used
Its hard for be to believe I am this impressed by something as simple as a shim, however having installed many doors and windows I can say these composite shims are the best product on the market. They break as easily as promised, and are exceptionally strong, however those aren't their best attributes. The best thing about these shims is their consistency. Each shim is exactly uniform, unlike wood shims that have natural variances. No more matching up shims to get the right thickness. I know that when I grab one of these it will be exactly the same size as every other one in the pack, or the pack before, or the pack after.

Excellent Product
My bed used to moved and squeaked. I insert two shims to the uneven spots and it instantly solved the problem. And the price is fantastic!
