I am grateful that this is a rental tank. I normally get a tank in decent condition. This tank should be retired. The handle is in rough shape and the tank has seen better days. In reference the the Cashier that helped me was an immence help, I appreciate her help.

This is what I received in the exchange carousel Aug 2024 from the Home Depot in Northville MI. I complained to Amerigas but have not heard back. Shouldn't have to clean up after the tank.

These were called 20 pound tanks years ago. Then they started filling them with only 17 pounds of LP. I always weigh my new tank and subtract the TAR weight that’s stamped on the bottles handle. (TAR weight is empty bottle weight) it’s not often that there’s actually 17 pounds of LP in a new bottle.

I am concerned because the tank that I received from the dispenser is NOT an America’s tank. It is an old dirty tank from a brand unfamiliar to me. Had I had the time I would have made the store exchange it for another. I don’t trust the system to give me consistent good product now

The propane tank exchange kiosk and dispenser did not work for me. In fact, none of the iterations of these dispensers has ever worked for me. As prompted, I purchased the exchange through the Home Depot app. It gave me a code to put into the kiosk. The code was rejected multiple times. I had to go to a clerk, who tried the code again and then just used her key to open up the cage to manually pull out a tank. But the propane did grill my steak!

The process of getting the gas bottle and dropping off my empty was easy. My only concern is the condition if the bottle I received. It was beat up and painted over. I could not conform if the bottle even met the inspection date.

The tank I bought was supposedly full and checked for leaks. (Had my receipt, purchased Friday for use Sunday.) Pretty important since we are talking about a flammable, explosive gas that will indeed be used near open flame (bbq propane tank). The valve obviously had plumbers tape in the threads, the shut off had spray paint on it, and the tank was pretty rusty. The o-ring was more oblong than an “o” … clearly damaged. Of course, they put a little blue cap over the valve, so you cannot see this until you get it home. HUGE AUDIBLE, SMELLY LEAK! Sounded like a loud “shhhhhhh.” No way to tighten it anymore to atop the leak. Had family in town for a bbq … NOT with THIS tank! The Home Depot customer service desk was totally unhelpful. 2 cashiers - same. Thankful that I found a Home Depot associate with access to the AmeriGas tank cage. I showed him the damage and he switched the tank out for me and marked the other one “bad valve.” Wish we could post pictures here. Definitely need some quality control. Dangerous! Soooo disappointed! Would NOT recommend!

American Propane gas tank we picked up was defective. When my wife turned it on for our fire table is shot flames out of the defective tank valve . She burnt her hands to turn it off. The tank was not tested .

I exchange my emty tank in excellent condition and got a greasy half filled one in return. I returned it immediately and purchased another one the next one was also filthy but had propane. I will not purchase propane from this company or home depot in the future. Do yourselves a favor and get your tank filled from your local company instead, youll have your tank and it will properly be filled not half filled like America's

Check tanks with soap before leaving the store. Failed fitting was leaking propane. Not a HD issue so much as their gas vendor but buyer beware.

Pay first then exchange your old tank for a 3/4 full newer tank. I just wanted a newer tank with a good seal. My old one was expired and the seal had cracks so when hooked up to my BBQ it leaked. Glad they accept old and/or expired tanks for exchange. This makes it worth while to spend more and get less. I just bought another old tank for 5 bucks, that one will be exchanged for a newer nicer 3/4 full one then I'll go back to having them filled all the way up for five bucks less then exchanging them cost. Doing an exchange has its merits when you need a better tank you can do an exchange & get one.

Charged my card, the door opened. I placed the empty tank in as instructed and closed the door. A second door opened. Because i didnt have a second tank to insert, the machine errored and Im a major line trying to wait for help. So inefficient. my tank is gone, my money is gone andy time is totally wasted. 45 minutes and im still in line.

I purchase propane tanks at Home Depot propane exchange to use it for my gas water heater. Around 3/4 of the time I have so much issues with these tanks and their overflow protection devices. My heater will have an error saying there’s not enough pressure/ flow. I have to sit there and bleed the tank, each tank, and it’s such a pain in the butt, just to get the valve to work. Waste of my time and money. I eventually purchased other tanks and went back to refilling it the old way.

Tank looked old. Hope I do not run into any issues.

I will never drive again to a propane station to fill up my tank. I thought I was saving $, I was not. Home Depot propane tank exchanged was very easy & with a very fair price.

I exchanged two gas bottles. One of them had a pressure gauge which showed about 3/4s of a full tank when I pulled it out of the bay (tried unsuccessfully to post a photo to this review). I don't know if the gauge is accurate or not, but Amerigas never responded to my inquiry. I hope this is an aberration, but how will I ever know if Amerigas doesn't respond?

It was a quick and easy process refilling my propane tanks.

I had brand new tanks that ran out. They exchange them for full ones that look older than the Roman Colosseum with 10 layers of paint and corrosion all over the knob and screw receptacle. Hopefully they’re safe but next time I will find a place to refill my tanks instead.

Not a huge deal but I would like to receive tanks that are free of rust and are painted.

Make sure to leave your empty tank outside when you purchase a tank exchange.

I believe this Amerigas tank was not completely full. I have a gauge that indicates the level. When I open the valve on the tank it pegs the needle full. This tank did NOT peg the needle it was a quarter inch lower then full.

Tank did not function correctly, leaked a lot gas.

Easy in easy out. I park near the containers and go inside and pay. A fella one third my age is already there waiting for me , when I walk back with the jug. I want a picture of his face, when I gently hoisted the full container onto my shoulder, and walked back to my car . Whoop !

Very disappointed in the last tank I received. The tank looks rusted out and unsafe.
