My mailbox post was getting bent from our mail driver reaching out to grab the mailbox lid before even coming to a stop. I had to get a better mailbox post and wanted something heavy duty that wasnt going to bend again. The old post was a flat type post with two 1 inch square tube uprights with decorative metal swirls between them. I needed toughness, so a round post filled with concrete should so the trick!
This mailbox post has a 3 inch round tube center. Again, perfect for filling with concrete and rebar. The post does come in 2 pieces and has to be screwed together. Holes for attaching the 2 pieces were a bit off, so I had to just barely start the sheet metal type screws until they were all in and then tighten them. Keeping the post halves laying flat on the ground while doing this is a must, since it can come out crooked if you dont.
The top plate to which the box attaches to the post is held in with nuts and bolts. You must look carefully as the holes don't appear to line up at first, but if you rotate the top around the post, you will find a spot where they all align. Why they made them different heights I dont know. It is hard to get inside the post with an adjustable wrench that the instructions specify you can use. I had to switch to regular wrenches.
The decorative covers are plastic, and the bottom wraps around the pole and secures with 4 screws while the top simply slides up and snaps into place. The snaps on mine weren't as secure as I would like but ill try to remedy that somehow, maybe with a small screw through the back into the post. The bottom was a snug fit, but can be slid up for weedeating so it doesn't get beaten up.
I'll get it installed tomorrow and filled with cement and see how it holds up. If there are any issues later I'll update my review, but so far it looks like it will be just what I needed.

The Elevado Mailbox Post by Architectural Mailboxes looks elegant. It all comes individually bagged and separated, the instructions are easy to understand and it does not take long to do so. It comes with all the hardware and the tools necessary are just a flat screwdriver, a Philips screw driver and two wrenches size 10mm. The post can hold up to 50 pounds so that is plenty and since it is galvanized it will not get rusted easy. The first 3 screws did take some strength to put into place; beside these the rest was easier. It is sturdy and nicely designed making the mailbox post more appealing and classy.
Overall it is a nice upgrade for a classy curb appeal.

This mailbox post comes totally disassembled but with all the hardware needed. The mailbox is not included. The round metal post is in two pieces that are assembled with three 10mm hex head screws. The screw holes are predrilled but did not align properly. The plate for the mailbox attaches with 4 small bolts. The paint finish looks good but seems to scratch easily. The decorative parts at the top and bottom are plastic. The bottom post cover slides up so you can trim around the post without tearing up the plastic. The top plastic cover is supposed to snap securely to the box mounting plate but the rear snaps refused to engage. The post is not as sturdy as I would like for a heavy mailbox due to the two piece design. This unit does not mount on a 4x4 post as most others. You need to sink the metal post in the ground about 18" and secure it with concrete. Overall quality is just average and security is compromised with the 2 piece post design.

This product is not your standard mailbox post, it is a lovely decorative mailbox post with a classy elegance, which looks really sharp in the color black. The post arrives in two pieces, each strong metal, galvanized steel, each 27" long; one fits into the other; the bottom of the lower section goes in the ground which allows you to determine height. The decorative plastic cover that goes near the bottom of the post is made of heavy plastic, arrives into two pieces that interlock to add a nice touch to the bottom of the post; these are adjustable in height, not tied to the post itself, instead, they will rest on the ground. The upper section that provides support for the platform that holds the mailbox is also made of plastic; the platform that sits above it/supports the mailbox , is heavy duty metal, nice and solid, black enamel finish, with a 3" hole going through it the size of the pole; this is where you secure screws to hold the pole in place. It is easy to assemble, should be complete in 5 minutes or less. I also don't think it could not be any easier to install. The pole supports up to 50 lbs. Hardware is included. It has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, also a LIFETIME structural warranty. The mailbox itself is not included. I really love it's looks, also the black color, which again, looks really sharp. My home has black shutters, as do a lot of homes, so it also matches my house, adds curb appeal, in my opinion. I also expect it to last, probably a lot longer than a wooden post which will eventually rot. I have no regrets, am very pleased with this product! I think it will be a great compliment to my home...

Heavy metal (mostly) mailbox post. Post comes in 2pieces and went together easily I used my racket wrench instead of wrenches. The seat has a base of metal and a cover that is plastic which slides up and covers the base. The decorative column is 2 pieces of plastic that screw together. This post looks very nice and because of its neutral color, would go well with most colors. I like that the decorative column slides up to make trimming underneath a breeze.

The Elevado Decorative in ground post in a rubbed oil rubbed bronze finish by Architectural Mailboxes. We chose this item because we wanted something more earth tone but not over the top in looks. It really was not that hard to assemble and get in the ground . We ended up buying a new mailbox to match the post and also a 50 lb. bag of Sakrete quickset concrete mix. It was as digging the hole about 20 inches into the ground where we wanted to place it. Then pour the quickset into the hole around the post and add water. Wait until the bottom part was dry or secure, then put together the rest of the pole. Add the mailbox and numbers, and it's a done deal. It looks really nice but again not to over the top. The pole itself is made of alloy that will not rust and will hold up to 50 Ibs. Only problem I had was with the small screws in the bottom part getting them to draw the two abs pieces together tight for a nice finished look....ended up using different screws.

This mailbox post is nice but I did not think the outside decorative pieces would be made out of plastic. The inside posts are metal and the top plate is metal but the bottom outside is plastic. It seems easy enough to assemble. We will have to see if it is able to stay in ground without tipping over. But right now I have to wait to do that. Ground is too cold for concrete. I am going to put concrete in the hole for support. I love the rubbed bronze color and it has a nice design.

Very nice design and easy to put together. You’ll need concrete before installation. The instructions are easy to follow. The pole and top plate where the mailbox sits on is metal but the plate holder and the design piece that looks like a skirt around it it’s made of plastic; very sturdy plastic. The entire mailbox is well made and looks like it will hold up well in extreme weather.
Awesome quality, good-looking, and easy installation. My new Architectural Mailboxes Elevado Decorative In-Ground Post in Rubbed Bronze is the perfect post for my new mailbox (that I purchased separately.) I like the rubbed bronze because it’s a nice upgrade from my old wooden post. I dug a hole about twelve inches deep and used wet concrete to secure the post. I let it set-up for a couple of hours and went back and installed a mailbox. All hardware and instructions are included with this in-ground post. The plastic skirt at the bottom really finished the look of this classy mailbox post. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Super sturdy and attractive mail box post! The package included a variety of hardware options for attaching your existing box to this post successfully. The metal post is very strong and easy to screw together (heads up: match up all three screw holes before you start connecting them so you won’t have to undo/redo work). The metal mounting plate for your mail box on has four screws to attach it to the post, so it’s very strong and stable - this should be great for long term use (my old post had only two screws attaching the plate and was always falling; that is part of why I was replacing it with this one). Before putting this in the ground I added some painters tape to mark where the height for USPS standards was. Then I added about 6 inches of gravel to the hole and used a mallet to get the post braced and level. Although I know pros would frame with wood, I worked with what I had and built a frame for the concrete by cutting up the sturdy cardboard box the post came in. Seemed sufficiently stable enough to hold the concrete while it dried for this project. :) Adding the artisanal plastic pieces was very simple to finish it off after waiting for the concrete to set. Nice upgrade from my one, and looks great on the curb.

The ARCHITECTURAL MAILBOXES ELEVADO DECORATIVE IN-GROUND POST IN RUBBED BRONZE is an attractive alternative to a wooden mailbox post. Unfortunately the ground in my area is frozen and I'm unable to put this outside right now but once it warms up this is going right up. The coloring is a nice brownish bronze powder coated finish. The main mounting tube is 3 inch diameter galvanized steel. The tube will be mounted in the ground for stability, I would suggest using Sika 33 fl. oz. Fence Post Mix-7116170 avalable at The Home Depot. The decorative base cover and mounting plate cover are ABS plastic so we will see with time how these hold up and hopefully won't fade. The assembled height is 53 inches. The decorative base is 8 inches wide. There are no instructions just a detailed picture on the box but it is easy enough so that you don't really need them, assembly time was less than 10 minutes for me not including digging the hole. I would suggest this if you are looking for something different or a little more classy looking.

The ARCHITECTURAL MAILBOXES ELEVADO DECORATIVE IN-GROUND POST IN RUBBED BRONZE went together pretty easily it is made of a combination of plastic and metal pieces. I recommend installing in a concrete base as it is sturdy but will blow away in a strong wing if not anchored securely. Overall it looks great compared to the 4x4 post alternative. Time will tell how well it will hold up but it looks to be made well to withstand the weather.

This Architectural Mailbox post is a nice upgrade for any plain wood post. The Elevado model has some design touches that give it a decorative look. It has a black powder coated galvanized steel post that should be set in a concrete footing. The rest of the parts are decorative in black ABS that screw together easily with the included hardware. There is a black ABS platform that holds the mailbox that is mounted on top. It holds up to a fifty pound mailbox.

Architectural Mailboxes and The Home Depot have a nice box post !
This post has a finished height of 54 inches. By sinking it into the
ground 12 to 14 inches it is a perfect 40 to 42 inches for mailbox !
(see photos) The assembly is easy with a couple of tools. The
fasteners leave a little to be desired. They are zinc plated but would
have been a lot better if they were stainless steel ! The architectural
pieces are of poly plastic and should last a good long time ! Don't
forget the concrete to set this post in !!

I like the classic styling of this black mailbox post. Assembly is required before you can plant this post in the ground. This is just the post, so you will need to separately purchase a mailbox. There are several pieces and parts, and a bag of nuts, bolts and washers. Assembly was easy, with all threaded holes lining up, and only took me about 30 minutes to complete. The assembly instructions are detailed and helpful, with illustrations and written instructions guiding you through each step of the assembly. The post and mailbox base are metal and weighty, while the decorative pieces are plastic. The paint chips easily, so you have to be careful not to run the parts into each other during assembly. A medium Phillips-head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or socket set is required for tightening the nuts and screws. When all is said and done, only 10-inches of the metal post is installed in-ground, so the post should be installed in a cement footing for stability. The installed post will stand 43-1/2 inches above the ground, which is the ideal height for a mailbox. The mounting plate is designed for use of a standard-sized mailbox, but spacers and hardware are included for attaching a larger box. The ground is still too hard to install, but the assembled post looks good and I expect it will provide many years of service.

This arrived today and the weather is not going to allow us to install it for a bit. It looks beautiful and has no defects. Love the color and style of this post. As soon as the snow melts and the ground is soft enough we are looking forward to installing this post as our current one is quit abused by the snow plow on a regular. This new post will be sturdier than our old one.

The Elevado In-Ground Decorative mailbox Post has a 2 piece 3" diameter post with a decorative post cover for the base that can be lifted up to avoid getting hit by the weedwacker line when doing yardwork. The mailbox mounting plate also has a decorative cover. The mailbox comes with all the hardware required for installation and well written easy to follow instructions for assembly i was able to assemble the post in about 30 mins. The mounting plate for the mailbox has several holes to accommodate all types and sizes of mailboxes. The hardest part of the install was digging a hole and mixing the concrete to set the post!
I tried to upload installed photos but file size is too large. The post has a very good look and has a life time structural warranty and is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Exceeded my expectations.

After 25 years, I decided to upgrade my mailbox with an Architectural Mailboxes Elevado Decorative In-Ground Post. The product came well packed and had no scratches or dings, and the power-coated, rubbed bronze finish is very elegant. The post is a 3 inch diameter, two-section, galvanized steel frame, designed for mounting in the ground surrounded by concrete for added support. Plastic decorative coverings around the post hides the hardware and enhance the appearance.
This is a high quality mail box post, which is corrosion resistant and should provide decades of maintenance-free use.

I have a architectural in-ground decorative mailbox post in black that I really am impressed with. Its not just great looking but very strong for long life. It is made of galvanized steel with a powder coated finish. It stands just under 53 inches when assembled with a 6x11 plate on top to fasten a mailbox with either side mount or top mount holes. It also comes with ABS upper and lower decorative post covers and all needed mounting hardware. It states it will support mailboxes up to 50 pounds. It is a very good post to mount your mailbox on .

This is a metal post with a bracket at the top designed for mounting a mailbox. The post itself is a cylinder made of 3/32 inch steel and has an outside diameter of 3 inches. The cylindrical post parts are plated with a coating the color of Rubbed Bronze. The overall, post length is 53 inches from mounting plate to bottom of post. USPS asks that the bottom of the mailbox be between 41 and 45 inches. This suggests you bury the bottom of the post 8 to 12 inches below the street surface. In my area, we have snow and ice, so there will need to be 24” deep hole with a pipe or steel rods up into the post cylinder. Since we have snow removal equipment running during the winter so we may need to put the post into a decorative wood box filled with concrete so it can be moved in winter. If your street is not level the box installation will require that the post be mounted at an angle so the mailbox is level when in place and pointing toward the street. IF you are planning for extremely heavy contents, you may also want to mount the center of the weight closer to the center of the post.
There are two decorative covers for the post. One is a molded plastic cover that goes under the mailbox plate. This gives a pleasing look just below the mailbox. A second decoration is a plastic cover that fits around the vertical post and slides down to touch the ground. This too has a material the color of Rubbed Bronze. It gives the look of a concrete pedestal holding the post. The overall look is very nice.
The Mailbox mounting Bracket at the top is pre-drilled with many of the common hole patterns compatible with the actual retail mailboxes. The mounting bracket is for a 6” wide and has extenders to attach 7” or 8” wide mailboxes. You can customize for other widths.
Assembly is simple and the instructions are detailed enough to see how it goes together. I will likely replace the nuts being used to connect the mounting plate to the post with “lock nuts” as the surfaces are not flat. I would not classify this as a “Security” post as it could be sawed in off in a few minutes with a “Sawsall”. A hacksaw would take a lot longer... It is sturdy and should stand up to severe weather for many years.
I was super excited about this mailpost because it's classy and is supposed to last way longer due to the high quality metal it's made from. I'd like to say I'm pretty handy, can do things for the first time with ease however, this mailpost has been the death of me. It took me three days to get the basic holes aligned because they weren't cut right. On top of that, after assembling the two main posts together, it's not sturdy whatsoever and wobbles. Would not purchase ever again. Don't do it.

Wobbly and crooked.
The top and bottom parts are cheap plastic. The metal post comes in two pieces and is loose and shaky when put together.

Quality control is horrible
Post is actually 2 sheet metal posts that are supposed to be connected by a joint. but the holes for the sheet metal screws are not placed properly so once connected the 2 posts wobble. add a mailbox onto and your brand new mailbox will just be wobbling away. do not waste your money and give your self a headache

We installed this mailbox about 2 weeks ago and love it. We wanted a locking mailbox to at least deter theft and this does the trick, with easy access from the sidewalk to unlock and retrieve mail. It looked quite large out of the box but looks great on the post at the street.

The post came in 2 pieces and was not straight when put together. Used a metal binding material to straighten and strengthen post. I do love the architectural detail of post.

The mailbox is awesome and will look great with my new home. Searched mailboxes for days and so glad I purchased this one, quality is great and priced accordingly.
