Had this lock for 8+ months. Works great! Batteries do get a lot of use in my house, but I solved that by purchasing some rechargeable batteries.

This is my second attempt at purchasing an August Lock for my entryway. We like a clean doorway with no knob, just a deadbolt. We think it's because we have no knob, but for whatever reason, the August just doesn't work. It's unresponsive when we try to lock or unlock the door. It says it's unlocked when it's locked and vice versa sometimes. It just hasn't been a good purchase for us.

This smart lock is excellent product and works smoothly. It works with Apple home kit too. Strongly recommend this lock.

I was having problems with my lock communicating through Bluetooth, through Wi-Fi and through the keypad. One conversation that took a total of 5 minutes and the customer service guy had me up and running! Saved my entire weekend as I am going out of town and would not be here to greet my Airbnb guests! It's a great looking product. Both the door lock inside my unit as well as the keypad outside the unit both look professionally installed. And trust me I am no professional installer of anything. I didn't get the guy's name and I regret that but he was awesome and I love my August Smart Lock!

This makes life easier and the notifications are outstanding!! Love that I can control with phone and don’t always need keys with me!!

I have had my smart lock for approximately 5 months now. And im only 2 problems away from a 5 star review. The 123 type battery life, even with a known battery brand don't last long so spares should be kept around. As well as the AAA needed for the keypad access. I wish the company would support rechargeable battery's, this would help consumers cut cost. but I am the follow the specs kind of individual. On the bright side you do receive low battery indicators. And normally I get another week prior to going bad. The security of this deadbolt is awesome. And I love that you can give several access codes for entry. I.E Maintenence, emergency, family, and kids, With restrictions. The August also sends notification within seconds of who has used a code or how the lock was used I.E manually or not. And the auto lock features are awesome. I would definitely recommend this August system. Best of all is no expert is needed to install this lock.

Do you need it? Probably not but it’s amazing and super convenient and works with Alexa. I never have to wonder if I Locked the door again. I would definitely recommend this lock. The turn dial feels solid and is nice to turn. Comes with a bunch of accessories to fit most lock mechanisms.

Good staff Modified the installation to work on completed door lock

So I bought this a few months ago and finally had it installed a few weeks ago. When my cleaning lady comes I can easy let her in. I can unlock my door from my car at night and jump out and run (because I’m scary). I love it. I need to learn how to set up my Bluetooth feature.

I needed this smart lock desperately as I needed to remotely let people in my house. The only issue was that if you slam my door it’s bolt would misalign with the hole in the door frame and the lock would repeatedly unsuccessfully trying to close to the point of draining the batteries. I had to put some Rubber Bumpers Pads on the door frame so that even if the door is slammed the bolt does not misalign. Now it works like a charm!

I had a August 2nd Gen lock installed. It was working perfectly fine besides the regularly reminded to replace the batteries (monthly) Not very eco friendly as we are not supposed to use recharged batteries. The lock just stopped working after 2 years after several attempts to contact the customer service.

I bought my first august lock over a year ago. Still works to this day. I simply wanted the other color and gifted my original to my mom, who also loves it. After a lot of research on smart locks I felt this was the best option as you can still use your house key if the batteries die, though the app warns you when the batteries are dying. It makes leaving the house convenient. I can do a few doors down and leave my keys at home. Plus the auto-lock function gives peace of mind that wasn’t there in the past. After a chosen amount of time if the door isn’t opened it’ll lock itself, as the name implies. You can also allow guest access to friends and family, while also putting limits on how long and when it applies. There’s much more this lock can do! Plus, the installation is so easy. It took maybe 15 minutes tops. Honestly, I can’t imagine not having my smart lock. I seriously love this thing! If you’re debating whether it’s worth it or not, it’s worth it. So much so that I didn’t mind buying it twice. It’s an amazing lock that actually works with combining simplicity with functionality, all while looking good.

We us this device at multiple locations! Might get one for my personal residence.

I was so happy with the lock.. I bought two of them.. Easy to use and very easy set up. Can integrate with Alexa . HomeKit is a little rough and having issues with it right now

I have two previous model locks which I had no problem to setup, but I ran into a few issues setting this one up. Although not indicative of everyone’s experience, I used the wrong tailpiece, then I had issues getting it setup for HomeKit. But after a factory reset and re-setup, it is working. I have noticed a slower response than the other previous models, but it does work.

We are extremely pleased with our August automated lock. We’ve been able to share access with family and friends, and lock and unlock our house from anywhere. Plus, it’s great to unlock the front door from the car when it’s raining and make a mad dash into the house without having to stop and unlock the door. That’s a great feature here in the Pacific Northwest. Highly recommend.

It simply adds life (smart) to your dead lock! Everything works as normal so your original keys still work. Very easy to install and it just works

Had the august for almost a year now. Switched from another popular smart lock that rhymes with Leavo because it kept dropping connections and the automated features kept failing. Connection was very easy, installing was a breeze. Another great feature overlooked by other brand - changing the batteries is WAY easier as the front plate simply pops off. It’s held on by two small but strong magnets. Alerts to my phone are also very quick.
