Decent product. Had higher expectations
I recently sealed my stamped and painted concrete i had done (15ft x 23ft) and was unsure of what sealer to go with. I decided to go with Behr Premium Wet look despite having multiple bad reviews. I guess I can say I am somewhat satisfied with the outcome. But it did turn that milky/ hazy in one spot. Was really disappointed in that. I followed instructions exactly how it was recommended to use. Its been about 2 weeks now in the 100+ degree weather we have in central Cali and it didn't clear up. Any recommendations on how to fix it? I would still recommend this product. May not be the best but if its done right and cures clear it looks great! And it is at a good price point.

Hi Luis,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Wet-Look Sealer. I'm sorry to hear that it dried hazy in one area. If only one coat has been applied, a second coat can be tested in a small area. The second coat may reactivate the first coat so that trapped moisture can escape. Alternatively, you can try wiping a test area with denatured alcohol, as this can also help release trapped moisture. Applying this product during the recommended weather conditions (50-80F; below 50% humidity) and out of direct sunlight is imperative for optimal results.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

Kindest regards,

Doris Behr

Dont waste your money buying this product you will be diappointed
I used this product on a paver patio, it just turned the entire patio into a milky glaze, at first I thought it will cure itself, but couple weeks later it just looks the same. I was lucky in that I only used it only on a portion of my patio. The picture will show the difference between Bher product and Eagle Product which I used for the rest of the patio.

Hi SG, thank you for your review, and we're sorry to hear the sealer dried to a milky glaze. To fix the issue, feel free to add a second coat in a small test area. If this clears it up, apply the full coat all over. However, if this doesn't work, it would be best to remove it with a concrete stripper. To help with this, please reach out to us directly; we'd love to make things right. -Edith Behr

      NIGHTMARE OF A PRODUCT
I'D GIVE THIS A ZERO RATING IF I COULD I had an existing driveway, and just had an additional pad poured next to it - both - although 18 years in between - looked identical. NOW, I applied this GARBAGE product and there is NO wet look, even after 2 coats - BUT instead, it turned my ENTIRE driveway WHITE. WHAT THE HECK?!? Looking into this now - seeing the review, I NEVER should have purchased this, nor should it be made!! SO ANSWER ME THIS - HOW do I fix it??? BETTER yet - WHO is going to fix it??? I purchased 3 gallons - I want my money back. And the cost to have it fixed.

Hello SWEST, we are terribly sorry to hear the Wet-Look Sealer you used on your driveway did not provide the wet-look appearance you were expecting, but instead dried to a white finish; we assure you this is not the experience we want our customers to have with our products.

To get your project back on track, as two coats have been applied, we'd recommend removing the sealer with a conventional concrete stripper before cleaning the surface with a concrete cleaner and degreaser and reapplying the sealer. If the sealer was applied to stamped or colored-concrete, we'd suggest using a color-safe stripper to help prevent discoloration to your concrete.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Please feel free to directly reach out to our Customer Care team with any questions you may have or for assistance, as we'd like to help. Have a great day. -Joanna Behr

        Sealed and Shiny!
I wanted to seal and add some sparkle to my entryway pavers. I picked up the Behr Wet-Look Sealer at the store and read the directions for on the back of the container. The for applying with a roller, the directions recommended a 1/4" nap roller. This seemed like really light nap for a porous surface like pavers, but I picked up the 1/4" as instructed. I rolled on a thin coat as suggested and the stuff soaked in perfectly. I ran into some direct sunlight during the morning, but I worked quickly and rolled it several times to ensure it was spread properly. The 1/4" nap roller, was perfect for applying the thin coat as suggested. I let it dry and added a second coat. I am very happy with the results.

          Discolored my stamped concrete
I purchased a much better product to seal my stamped concrete but ran out before the job was finished. Instead of driving 15 miles to get another two gallons I sided with convenience and went to Home Depot. I also ignored all the bad reviews for this product and purchased it anyway. Big mistake. It left a white film in the portion I used this on. The rest of my stamped concrete is beautiful and shiny like it should look. The area I used the Behr on is dull with a white finish. I’m hoping they give me my money back since now I’ll have to remove the Behr sealer and re-seal it with the better product. Waste of time, effort and money. I can’t believe the number of bad reviews and still HD pushes this product.

Hi Jerry - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the white film on your stamped concrete. To fix, we recommend applying a second coat in a small test area and allowing it to dry for 4-6 hours. If the test area dried clear, you can continue to apply a second coat to the rest of the surface. If not, the sealer would need to be removed. So we can assist you with this, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We hope to hear from you. - Sara Behr

              Ruined My New Patio
Bought this for my new concrete patio. Followed the directions and made sure the concrete was cleaned and dried before applying. It turned out to be a costly mistake. It went on white.... and dried white. Now I had to go out and buy paint remover, $30, new stain, $50, and try to find a sealer that doesn’t dry white. Not to mention the damage it’s already done. It may have worked for other people, but not me. See pictures for final product...

                  Indoor Brick Treatment
I was a little hesitant to try the product after the few negative reviews. I have some brick under a wood burning stove that always look dusty. I cleaned the area with a steamer and gave it a few days to dry. It looks amazing after 1 coat! I was very careful to apply very thin and not have any pooling in any recesses. this was applied indoors where there was no direct sunlight and the temperature was 65-70 degrees. I applied it with a small roller and brush.

Sealed beautiful flagstone with this sealant and a few days later it is pealing and stone is changing color. Not happy! The product money and the professional job to remove the sealant without damaging the stone.

                      Easy application with terrific results
I spent most of my time prepping the surface, and once it came to the application it was very simple. I used a sprayer and followed up with a roller to even out the coating. This went on very easy and results are amazing! It really brings out the color in the pavers and makes it look more expensive.

                        Bad, bad, bad
Needed to refresh the look of my driveway apron. Rolled on one coat of this stuff after a thorough pressure wash cleaning. A complete day's work. 24 hours later It is still a blotchy, white milky mess. Add me to the list of people that didn't read the reviews until after buying and applying. SO disappointed with Behr since I bought on name alone since it's usually a high quality product. Equally disappointed with HD for selling this stuff after so many problems and unhappy customers, all documented on this site. I'm now looking to have a company come in and grind this stuff away at a substantial cost. Turns out I'm not the only local person they've had to help "undue" what this product has done. Worse HD experience ever!

                        Hi SteveCC,

Thank you for reviewing our sealer. I'm sorry to hear that this product looks blotchy and milky after 24 hours! Since you've applied one coat so far, I recommend applying a second coat in a small test area and allowing it to dry for 4-6 hours. This may reactivate the first coat and allow any trapped moisture to escape, leaving a clear finish. If your test area dries clear, you can apply a second coat to the rest of your driveway apron. If the test area remains milky white, the sealer would need to be removed, and the bare surface etched and cleaned before re-sealing. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly. Best - Sara Behr

                          Disappointed customer
I followed the instructions exactly as indicated on the 5 gallon bucket. I bought all products needed including the recommended etching product. Unfortunately after I was finished with my coats to my driveway and sidewalks, I read reviews. I had not before applying because the products were recommended by the paint department at Home Depot. I read review after review of a milky chalky look and was glad mine did not look milky. Then, I read about the product flaking off. A few months later, my sealant started flaking away taking the cement paint with it. I spoke with Home Depot staff, and they told me I must not have followed the instructions. Now my sidewalk and driveway look horrible. Time has past and it looks so much worse. I have had professionals come to quote a price to remove the sealant. I cannot afford it. I am so disappointed and disgusted. :(

                          Hi Sadface,

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the sealer is flaking off your driveway and sidewalks! If there are areas where the sealer is flaking off, but the paint underneath is still intact, we recommend lightly sanding these spots to remove anything that's loose, cleaning the area, then touching up with more sealer. It sounds like the surface is flaking all the way down to the bare concrete though, so we'd like to learn more about your project so we can assist. I tinted it with Copper Penny, looks fantastic
This is the second time in 18 months that I've used this sealer. The first was fine. This time the stamped concrete was faded in areas where the sun hits it long and hard here in South Florida. I wanted to add a little tint to make the drive way more appealing and less bleached out looking. I called Homedepot support like e and they said the product can not tint it. Fair enough. I sampled a small amount of Copper Penny metallic powder tint in the liquid sealer. It looked fine so I added more to the pump sprayer and my second coat was sprayed on with the tint. What a difference it makes. It's shiny and hides the bleached out look. Now it's looks like new bricks were put down. I know about tinting as I'm a painter and work with epoxy resin for counter tops. The results were beyond belief.

                              Proper preparation
Despite some of the negative reviews on Behr wet look sealer 985 I decided to give it a try. I painted my garage floor with 2 coats of Behr 1 part epoxy garage floor paint after using muriatic acid to etch the concrete as recommended. I let the floor dry out for a few days before applying the epoxy paint. After the 2 coats of epoxy paint was applied I let it dry for 24 hours. Then I applied the first coat of 985 wet look sealer and the 2nd coat 24 hours later. With two coats of sealer the floor looks beautiful, as the instructions state the sealer goes on milky white but drys clear. The most important thing is to make sure there is no moisture in the concrete floor, my garage is heated and cooled so that was not a problem for me.

I have use this product on three different projects, all with good results. I use a garden sprayer to apply, then back-roll with a thick nap roller. Product is consistency of 2% milk, so pretty watery and milky when it goes on. Two projects in Yucatan MX, one in Florida, so all in warm weather, though followed directions and did not apply in direct sun. I do not understand the negative reviews. Worked fine for me. I greatly prefer it to an oil-based clear-coat I used a couple years ago, though this does take a few coats to build-up. Dries fast so re-coat isn't awful.

                                  Stains and peels
I was doing some poured concrete counter tops for around my outdoor cleanup sink (not for food/kitchen). I just wanted to seal it to keep it from staining. I used 4 light coats. It cured for well over a week it looked pretty good. No white film or anything. I had some containers I had cleaned and a dry sponge on top of the counter. Some rain rolled on through and when I removed the items I noticed all sorts of staining. You can tell that where the sponge is that the concrete was actually wet underneath the finish...so it's not really sealing! You can tell the color changed were it was exposed to the rain. On top of it all I took my finger nail on the wet area where the sponge was and was able to scrape a little of the finish off.

Hi Hans, thank you for your review, and I am sorry to hear you have some staining and peeling. While the coating did dry for a week, it does take about 30 days for it to cure. During this time, it can be sensitive, especially if the sponge soaked in water and was sitting on top. However, to fix the issue, we recommend sanding off the loose coating,re-etching the bare concrete, and doing any touch-ups. To help with this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us; we'd be more than happy to help. -Edith Behr

I just used it to reseal pavers in a Lanai and around the pool. I chose the Wet look to bring out more color. After cleaning and sanding the cracks and joints, I used a garden sprayer to apply. The garden sprayer keeps the sand in place versus rolling it in. Waited 3 hours then applied a second coat. I got it a little think in a couple of spots..but, it dried just fine. Looks great and can't wait to finish the rest of the pool deck!

Looks good so far. Put this on as a film, not as a layer, and it dries to a clear glossy finish. I use a siding brush to work it into the porous wall and over the smooth floated floor in the basement. If you are putting this on thick enough to look white during application you absolutely must brush it out to get good results. Similar products in the past reduced the concrete "smell" and dampness so I see no reason I won't get the same results after working around all the 'stuff' in the basement. Cooler weather is here so I am leaving three days for drying before moving things back over the treated areas so I can prep and apply the next sections.

good results on stamped stained concrete porch.
After reading thw reviews and having a horrible experience with behr concrete dye, I was skeptical. However this product was a breeze to apply ans looks great. I just sprayed it on liberally with a pump sprayer and back rolled to even it out. It is milky when wet, especially in the cracks and pockets that inevitably collect material on this type of surface. However, once it dried, it looks great. I’ll be using this on all my concrete surfaces. A second coat would have probably been even better, but I liked the look after one coat and just left it.

The finish was great! Not really a "Wet Look", it's more of a nice satin sheen which is fine with me. It gave a really nice sheen without changing the patio color, which a true "Wet Look" would actually do. I applied to small 5 foot square sections with a 2 gallon sprayer and immediately rolled it to get an even distribution. Three (3) gallons covered my 25' X 30' brick paver patio with enough left over to cover 50' of linear capstone using a paint roller. I actually applied in direct sunlight, 93 degrees. I worked quickly and used several thin coats, rolling each and allowing 15 minutes drying time between each application. I did experience some white milky build up on a few capstones. But that was my fault. I applied too much sealer using the roller and the heat was intense.

I put 2 coats on 16x16 4 cobblestone pavers and was hoping to achieve the look as shown on the bottle picture. While it does make the paver look better, it's still a flat look with not much if any gloss. Let's hope the sealer part works better than the wet look part. You shake it up before using. Has a milky look to it. I put mine on with a paint brush due to the small area I'm working with and wanting to make sure I get it on all sides and in the pores. Putting/painting it on is easy and straight forward. Cure time is 72 hours.

                                          Hello sphybrid,
Thanks for taking the time to review our Sealer. I’m sorry to hear it didn’t meet your sheen expectations. It’s not the experience we want our customer to have. Pavers tend to be very porous and absorb more than other surfaces. I recommend applying another coat. Please keep in mind that up to 4 thin coats can be applied. Also, please keep in mind that although the product looks milky during the application, it does dry to a clear finish. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer care team. We’d love to help! Best, Roxana N. Behr

This product it's not suitable for all flooring, pavers, concretes etc. Just read instructions carefully and do like I did and just try a little of it on your particular project then determine if this is what will work for you. Do not get carried away by all the negative reviews, once again it will work on some things and not on others, you just have to try it first. For my particular project it worked wonderfully and as I expected!! I love it, see my pictures.
