I loved this little router until I didn’t. I bought this router in November of 22 and the first week of December of 23 it started surging/dragging and then wouldn’t come on at all. I checked the brushes (light use) and they were fine. Blew out the housing and plugged back in. Same problem. Very intermittent like it had a short. It is literally 2 weeks out of warranty and I had to finish some Christmas gifts so I put it in a drawer and bought another Bosch palm router (ANOTHER Huge disappointment and a different story) to finish my projects. Today I had more time so I pulled the switch and speed control and cleaned them in detail and the hunk of junk started working again (for now). It appears that it’s a common issue with these routers to get dust in the switches causing problems. I’m done after two bad (but different) Bosch pony routers! Back to Yellow and Black. Let me add that I have 3 Bosch 1617s and absolutely love them. Bosch needs to up their game in the palm router arena.

Worked well removing 1/8" of vertical MDF wall board that had malamine coating. 8 sq ft of surface. Used surface CNC insert router bit at 16,000 rpms. Router maintained rpm well with slow hand feed.

I selected the Bosch Colt for two reasons; 1) the Bosch name - they make some great tools and 2) I needed a palm sized router for edge treatment of boards. Full sized routers are too hard to handle for edge treatment (round-over, ogee or roman) of smaller 1 X boards. The Bosch Colt is just the tool for edging. With the built-in options such as the micro-adjust depth setting and the top mounted variable speed wheel - the Colt is really easy to set and use. I also like that the base will completely separate so that it is easier/roomier to install bits in the collet and also a plus is a built-in spindle lock, although Bosch includes a spindle flat wrench along with the collet wrench. The only cons are no fence/guide although there is place set on the base to attach, and no tool storage bag of box. Not a big deal since Bosch obviously puts all the money in the tool. The router itself has very smooth operation starting with the soft start. Running 1/2" ogee and round-over bits on pine and maple was no problem for the small Colt. Motor seemed to keep the rpm through the whole run of the board edge. The router is easy to handle with one hand. The base plate has depressions made to help grip the router from the plate for edge trimming such as one laminate. A great powerful tool for it's compact size!

120-Volt Corded Variable-Speed Palm Router By Bosch This is a really nice router by Bosch, It comes with a 1/4” collet. There are no bits included. It has a 12 Amp motor that is a lot of power. You can also adjust the speed as needed. It has a precision centering system and 3 3/4” base operating that aids in maneuvering along your cutting line. This seems to be a well made router. I was anxious to try it out, but I have no router bits. I'll have to wait until I can go purchase a couple of different size bits. This router is a palm router with a fixed base, but you can remove the acrylic base and it does have 4 holes so you could attach it to a table. With it being as small as it is, this is a comfortable size for my hand. I think most women would prefer it over a larger one. I'm anxious to purchase a router bit so I can give it a try. It also has an adjustable speed dial (800-25,000 RPM). I know this is a popular brand and know Bosch to have excellent products. I would recommend this Bosch Router because of their well-known and great products. I went online to read more about this particular router, but it seems this particular one has been discontinued. Bought tyis router January 4, 2024 I paid the extra for the express delivery to get it Jan 5,2025. Inwould not have speny the extra money to get it delivered on January 8th which is the current delivery date

The router burnt out within the first 15 minutes of use

I bought this router because I needed a small one for trimming laminate for bathroom and kitchen counter tops. I’ve installed the new laminate on the bathroom counter tops and the router worked great.

Great tool, easy to handle and wonderful for those small jobs.

Great tool. Relatively quiet as router go. Easy to handle and control. Edge guide knob on the side sometimes gets in the way but removal solves that problem. Only down side is router body gets hot if sustained routing. I highly recommend this trim router for your shop.

As expected the router works great. Easy to work on small projects. Light weight.

Item is ok. The biggest issue is the depth locking. It slips. Also when turning to the lock setting, the depth moves. I own four routers (had more in the past) this is the only one that doesn’t hold the setting tight. Makes it hard and way more time consuming to use.

Worked great to trim Formica sheets

Have been using this router for just a few days and I am very impressed with it. My other router is a 40-year-old Craftsman, so this is a great upgrade. There is good visibility of the cutter and the depth adjustment holds well. It is lightweight and easily controlled. Great value. Got it on sale.

Smooth Cuts no Vibrations Bought a cheapo one that vibrated so bad the bit came loose cutting a truss rod groove and went right through a new Mandolin Neck.

Bought this as an addition to my full size Bosch router for more delicate work. Nice size and works ok but the depth control and locking mechanism are very poorly designed. If you get one of these, tighten the locking clamp nut so the locking lever is very hard to close - it will help hold the depth setting. When using the unit, do not push down hard on it or twist it as it may move the depth. Overall, I would not recommend it unless you are only doing edge trimming where depth is not critical.
