I seared boneless rib eyes on it the first time using it and they were some of the best tasting steaks I’ve ever had!

Griddle seats nice on top of the pit, but it takes a little fiddling to make sure it stays level with the top of the pit. On mine, the handles line up with the pit legs of you have the cutout lined up with the outpost, which is fine. Heat and seasoning give it a very nice patina. Cooking on it is a joy. My burgers stuck a little bit, but I am sure the non stock will improve over time with more layers of seasoning. Picking it up off the fire is best with two people.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a serious piece of heavy metal - Metallica-awesome. At 650+ degrees F. via my infrared thermometer, steaks sear so much better than on my grill - and with such a large cooking surface, so much more evenly. The latter especially as I can have an at-temperature of the griddle reserved for when I flip the steaks/chops onto their other side. The crust was simply amazing, and the high-heat/low-cooking time meant that even with thinner cuts, I could easily achieve a true rare to medium-rare temperature. The ability to control the temperature of the cooking surface (did I forget to mention just how much surface there is, on the X30-sized pit?! wow!) means that I could have a hot side and a cooler side to work with. I won't lie: as an able-bodied 6' 250-lb. man, the griddle is heavy (and I understand why it necessarily has to be so). I am able to place/remove it myself, but a second person would be ideal - and is necessary for those who may have physicality concerns. I came to the Breeo pits based in large part on various reviewers noting that this is the pit to get, if cooking on/with it is important to the buyer. I absolutely agree: The SearPlate Griddle is a serious piece of cooking hardware that's well worth its investment and care (since it is carbon-steel, just like a cast skillet).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this once and the griddle started to rust straight out of the box even though it didn’t have contact with water. spent an hour trying to scrub off the rust but the sear plate was rusting as I scrubbed. I stored it in my garage and it still continues to rust. All my other Breeo products are stored out by my fire pit without any signs of oxidation. I don’t know how to maintain this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I let the embers form then used my smoker pellets to fine tune the temperature of the pit. Add a 2 handfuls of smoker pellets (hickory, apple, the flavor does not matter).

On the first day I cooked the most delicious bacon, French toast, hashbowns, and over easy eggs! This is going to be a game changer and can’t wait to experiment more! Breeo continues to develop the very best accessories!

This thing is amazing!!

Man this thing is solid. A good 1/4” thick ( no warping here) great handles and they don’t get hot like the sear plate does. Cooked or first steaks to perfection.

It’s easy to season and attach to the Breeo. Our first steaks and burgers turned out amazing. The sear is what makes this accessory a must have.

This is tied with the Outpost grill as my favorite outdoor cooking accessory.To say it's built solid is an understatement. With .25" thick steel, it retains heat very well and is some solid grilling eye candy. The handles are excellent and make transporting the sear plate a breeze.I use it on my Double Flame 19", which is virtually the same measurements as the X19, and it fits perfectly. I highly recommend buying this accessory - your steaks, burgers and plenty more will come out perfect!-DM

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The SearPlate is a great add-on for our Breeo and I think it is the best add-on (we've got the Outpost, lid, and other accessories too). I love to cook on this thing, and since the fire starts so quickly and burns hot it works amazingly. It is heavy, not hard to clean (but don't let it remain wet for a long time or you'll have to deal with that just like any other cooking surface) and if you keep it scraped/cleaned and oiled after each use you'll enjoy it for a LONG time. In the photo I am doing veggies in a cast iron pan but I've done a ton of burgers, steaks, chicken skewers and much more. Just get it if you are on the fence.
