Made in USA. I needed a tamper for the installation of some brick pavers. This is a fine tool and fits the bill for compacting the ground to reduce settlement and keep things level. The base plate is 3/8 inch plate and adds the necessary weight to compact sand and soil. There is a slight crown on the base which enables you to concentrate the load when tamping. The 4 foot handle is reinforced with 4 welded gusset plates at 90 degrees to each other. This definitely adds to the rigidity of the tool and allows evenly applied force. The tamper is painted black with a rubber cap on the end of the handle for ease of handling. Very well made and should last a long time. Like any tool, I'd recommend storing it in your garage and keeping it out of the weather when not in use.

This tamping tool is a total of 49.5” long with a 3/8” plate and cushioned grip handle. It is all steel and HEAVY!! It even has a 1/16” center taper on the steel plate for concentrated tamping. This tamper is super heavy duty and will make those tamping jobs easier because of it's well thought out design and no nonsense heft. Well done Bully Tools!!!

I recently received the 49 inch Steel Handle Tamper Plate made by Bully Tools. This tool has been great for general “tamping” of posts around the yard. I recently built a kayak rack which required four (4) 4x4 corner posts. The tamping tool made the job of compacting the area around the posts a real breeze. The tool is advertised as 100% American made and comes with a lifetime warranty. For jobs requiring an area to be compacted, this is a really great tool to have. In summary, The Bully Tools tamping plate is well made and comes with a lifetime warranty. It did a great job for me and I would recommend it.

I highly recommend this 49" steel handle tamper plate for filling in and tamping small projects. I had a low corner in my yard, which caused a gap under my chain link fence. I filled in the low area with some dirt and use this tamper plate to compress the dirt, and lumps, to level it in preparation for seeding. This product is made in America and is all steel construction. The weight of this tamper is almost 16 pounds. This tamper has a limited lifetime warranty.

Built to outlast us! Weighing in at almost 16 lbs, you don’t have to lift this tamper very high to be effective. Maintaining 5- acres, we’ll put this to good use re-compacting dirt, especially when we didn’t do the digging! (e.g. refilling “critter-burrows”, mashing mole-tunnels, and gopher mounds). The flat edge allows getting right up against a foundation, pavement or edging. Maybe we’ll tackle that paver project now! Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and keep feet safely out of the way.

49 in. STEEL HANDLE TAMPER PLATE. To Start Made in The USA!! Nice to see some products still made in the USA for a Fair Price. when shopping online the display picture looked to me as if the handle & base bolt together, using a cross bolt. THAT is NOT the case. 1 piece welded construction. overall this is built to the same size as my previous one that had a wood handle. no more dealing with a loose handle on this Tamper. i will be keeping my eye out for anything from Bully tools in the future.

The tamper plate is a solid tool. I used it to level out some high spots in our yard and also pound down mole or gopher holes. The handle is a bit short, would be nice to have a longer rubber padded end for wider grip, but I think you will run into fatigue before your hands get sore. The plate has a good weight for small projects. This can be used for most small home projects.

This is a nice heavy duty tool. I like that it is a one piece welded tool with no bolts or set screws to loosen up over time.

pretty solid product that would help to smash the ground that won't bend the rod. I am using tamper plate build a new small patio with gravel and sand which will help to get level the ground before put the stone on the ground.

Very sturdy and did the job of leveling out the dirt where a former structure stood in my back yard. it was easy to maneuver considering how hefty it is! Will be using this for many years to come.

Held out to buy this as it is made in the USA. Ordered and received only to find the base is crowned upward to the point only the very center of the base contacts the ground. The in store made in china ones didnt have this problem.

It's big it's metal it smashes dirt it didn't break it's kind of what you expect.

Well made, heavy and sturdy. Exactly what I needed to tamp down a base for a paver stone fireplace. Will also come in handy when digging up sprinklers and needing to tamp down the dirt around them.

This tamper is more than double the price of the cheaper versions of a tamper, and it is worth it for sure. I bought a cheaper one earlier in the summer and I literally broke the metal, because instead of solid metal it was the cheap cast stuff. This one is 1/4" solid steel, which would be literally impossible for me to break, it is MUCH stronger and 100% worth the extra cost.

This tool is all heavy gauge steel construction, welded, no hardware and the soft grip handle makes using the tool for extended periods of time comfortable. I used this tool to re-construct a brick paver walkway and found it to be very helpful, making completion of the job easier. I will be using this tool to install new stair treads and a landing at the top of the stairs, in addition to other stone projects such as a rear patio and fire pit.

Built very well. Grip on handle keeps my hand secure even without gloves. Keep your feet clear of the plate- it’s heavy!
