With patience and some art skills, you can really get the perfect color with this kit. It did a decent job covering up a deep gash and some gaps in our hardwood floors. I only gave it 4/5 starts because the putty is think, and took a few applications to fill the gaps in my floors.

the putty is fine but it is really impossible to get an accurate color match. The color swatches look “wood like” but the mixed putty looks like dirty “silly putty”. Still it is an improvement and saved me from having to replace entire boards.

The concept of this product is a good one: Fill in a missing chip on a floor. The compound does go on fairly smoothly and dries to a tough and walkable surface, but you do have to pay attention to the color mix and use your own eye as the material does not lighten up as it dries - what you apply is what you get. In my case, the paste turned out MUCH darker than the instructions would have me believe. One drop of the black goes a very long way.

First off you need to be a little but arts and craft to use this and use it well. The toughest part is trying to mix up the components to get the color you are looking for. Since my floors were just redone, I used this to tough up marks on some furniture. It works well and fills in deeper scratches better than just painting them with a marker. Also nice to fill nail hole and screw holes when repairing furniture.

I received the FloorFix Wood and Laminate Floor Repair Kit hoping to use it on some Brazilian cherry engineered real wood flooring. I opened the package and the first thing I noticed was a lack of tools which was not a good start. The cup to fix was too fragile, and the Popsicle stuck and other tools not good either. I ended up making my own tools and tried to match the color using the chart. In my case the putty did not dry and darker. I was then forced to try and color it post drying before using the enclosed lacquer as the final coat. Overall it did not perform well, it did fill in the patches but with the lack of tools I would not use this kit again.

I have a couple of dings in my laminate flooring in the kitchen, since this is one of my busiest rooms. While cleaning the floor I notice them and hated the idea of having to replace the floor because overall it is in great condition. This repair kit will do what I need. Easy to apply, and so many color choices, is good since I have a light color in my kitchen and darker color thoughout the house.

I did not have a good experience with this repair kit. I tried it twice, once on a wood cabinet door and on a laminate floor that had a few chipped spots. The instructions seemed straight forward and simple, but I had trouble mixing and spreading the product. It was very messy and challenging for me. While there is a color match chart with lots of colors, I could not match my color exactly. Maybe it was just user error, but I did not like this stuff.

RE: Calflor FloorFix Wood and Laminate Floor Repair Kit I installed hardwood flooring in my home a couple years ago and now have some minor scratches and such that need touch up. One of the greatest positives about this kit is the ability to custom match colors. My flooring is a dark distressed mahogany and with some experimenting, I was able to match the colors. Great kit!

The FloorFix Wood and Laminate Floor Repair Kit works, but requires patience and experimentation. The CalFlor FloorFix Wood and Laminate Floor Repair Kit, Model # FL49111CF, is the ultimate “DIY” product - you mix the colors, you mix the putty, test it in an inconspicuous place, carefully clean up the excess, and lacquer it once it’s dry. Mixing the color is a multi-step process because it darkens as it dries. So you mix a batch, apply some to a card or scrap wood, and let it dry. Wrap the remaining mixture in plastic wrap so it stays pliable. If the color doesn’t match you can modify it (including lightening it with provided white tint) or scrap it and start over. It’s not difficult (watch the excellent video, read the instructions carefully), but it’s not what I’d consider “easy”, and it’s definitely not quick! At least it has minimal odor. But if your beautiful floor got damaged in a visible place then it’s definitely worth the time and effort to match the color and save it. And it’s not very expensive so you can afford to experiment. Considerations: - It’s intended for deeper cracks or gouges, not shallow scratches (I tried anyway - don’t waste your time) Not the product’s fault, just an experiment that didn’t pan out. - I couldn’t get a satisfactory “cherry” color - the floors in question are stained a particularly red shade of cherry, and the closest I could get was brown. You can see that the color-selector chart doesn’t have a match for my floor. - Mixing is a bit messy - be careful with your clothes and surroundings. Have wet paper towels available to clean up the excess. Note: We received this item free from Home Depot’s “Seeds” program. Home Depot only asked that we provide an honest review.

This kit provides a reasonable solution for small paint fix-up projects. I recently used it to touch-up some floor base molding (see pictures). While not a perfect color match, it was close enough for me (see picture). The color match sheet provided with the kit is very helpful. It contains paint formula’s printed adjacent to each color chip that are simple to follow. Detailed mixing instructions are printed right on the packaging, and if you’ve got a good eye for color matching, you can fine-tune the shade with the different paints and putty that come with the kit. There are several components to this kit (see picture), including many small containers of paint, so it would have been better if the kit came packaged in a small reusable container to store. As it is, if you cut the package just right, you may be able to reuse it by taping it closed when done, otherwise you’ll need to find a small container to store these components. In my opinion, this kit is intended primarily for paint touch up. Although it also contains a tube of (“Hard Surface Repair”) putty for filling gaps holes and scratches, because the putty requires no mixing with a hardener as would be typical of epoxy-based products, it probably will not wear well if exposed to heavy use or foot traffic. There are special epoxy-based products designed for laminate floor repair that would likely be more appropriate for those circumstances. This kit worked well for me. It is easy to use for its intended purpose and I would recommend it.

This is a great kit to have on hand when you get that scratch in your wood floors. It has a multitude of colors and shades to make a perfect match. Read the instructions and finding that perfect match can be a bit more time consuming that you first thought...however the end result is really worth the time getting the match perfect. I love this kit and plan to use it whenever the need arises,

This is a very good wood and laminate floor repair kit. We tried and tried to find some stain to fix our a spot on our laminate floor. We actually bought 3 different stains and none of them matched. This was the answer to our problem. The kit has 5 different pigments included to allow for different color combinations. The kit includes putty, 5 pigments, lacquer, mixing bowl, graining and stir stick, measuring board, spatula, brush, 27 color formulas and very detailed instructions.

Great kit it you want to custom color match. A year ago I installed a LOT (800+ sf) of Pergo laminate in some high-use areas of our house. It is inevitable that some nicks and scratches will appear (for example, just when installation had finished I dropped a pry bar on the floor, and it made a deep gauge.... Murphy's Law in action). I've tried the Pergo brand filling putty, and another brand as well, but the floor - just like a real wood grain - is not a solid color throughout. This kit is nice for me in that instead of filling with "Cherry" filler, I can actually match the tone to the exact location. The attached pics were my first attempt at a fix. Truthfully, I kinda rushed it and just tinted by eye, but I've very, very pleased with the result

If you have wood or laminate floors (or baseboards/trim), you should have this kit. There 27 formulas included that can match virtually any color in maple, oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, mahogany and gray. We have a couple of areas in the laminate flooring where there is a bit of shrinkage causing a wider space than there should be between laminate pieces. This putty, customized to match, will fill these gaps perfectly. Since it is a putty, I might try it in a gap between pieces of stone in our backsplash. I really think it will work for that purpose, too. This is a very easy-to-use, versatile, high-quality kit and I highly recommend it for every household. You can even create the appearance of graining and marbling.
