Bought the opener on 11/21/2016 and home depot could not get an installer to install until 11/29/...
Bought the opener on 11/21/2016 and home depot could not get an installer to install until 11/29/2016 ( Ronson Door Sales & Home Depot Coon Rapids) . I wish now I had canceled because of the wait. The opener was installed in under an hour but stopped working within an hour of being installed. Called both Ronson Door Sales and Home Depot and neither got back to me until the next day and neither would take care of the opener not closing. I had no lights on for the sensors on either side and super slow opening. I had to hold the buttons down on switch to close. The installer would not assume an responsibly for the opener failing within hours of being installed and Home Depot just said call installer and after that call Chamberlain. I have stopped payment for opener and install. After 24 minutes of music with Chamberlain hanged up and waited, then called again and waited 19 minutes. Based on conversation with Chamberlain opener is not hooked up right and door might not be balanced. Just as I was starting to give up I saw a garage door company truck for Genie coming down. I flagged him down and he was short of time but quickly discovered a wire not hooked up correctly. He then witnessed the slow, speed of the opener and said the installer missed something or the motor is already going bad. Home Depot in Coon Rapids, MN and Ronson Doors still will not help. I will likely this weekend take it down by myself and return this super slow opener. I have yet to get the Wifi to work or my van and car remotes to work with this Chamberlain, will go back to Genie. This was the top model for Opener at Home Depot, piece of junk for the money. My screw drive Genie was ask quiet or quieter than this model. The opener takes 20 seconds to open my 7 ft door and 17 to close. My third garage with an old genie closes and opens in half that time.

    Exceeded my expectations
My old screw-drive Genie gave up the ghost last month after many years of service, and went down to Home Depot on a Saturday morning to replace it. I was about to pick up a similar unit off the rack but got talking to the Home Depot guy in the aisle. He suggested that I consider this particular unit as one that was very popular (indeed - it was out of stock). Being a "gadget guy" I liked the internet connection feature, and decided to order it instead. I am so pleased with it. I thought it was a bit difficult to install, but that's probably just me. Now that I have lived with it for a month, I am totally impressed. The "features" that I thought were gimmicky are truly useful. The fact that the garage light comes on automatically when you come into the garage (and off when you leave) is very handy. I made a rule (on the app) that notifies me if the garage door is open between 10pm and 6am. No more worry about leaving the garage door open all night. Totally useful. And it is extremely quiet compared to my old unit. I love my new "smart" garage door. Thanks Home Depot!

    AWESOME Improvement
Bought this opener to replace an old 1/2HP chain drive unit. My kids used to yell "Daddy is home" as soon as they heard the old opener. Now, they yell it when I open the door from the garage to the inside of the house because they can't hear the opener. I also knew I wanted a better opener because I was getting a new garage door. I had prices from garage door companies anywhere from $400 - $500 to install an opener with a fraction of the bells and whistles that this opener came with (i.e. MyQ technology and batter backup). I also bought the fancy Liftmaster bracket from Amazon (~$22) and it completed the installation and gave everything a great look for my future mancave.

    Excellent opener.
I love this opener. The manual was clear enough. I assembled it in about 2 hours. Battery backup is a nice feature. The opener is very quiet and works smoothly.

    Worth the extra money!
Needed a new garage door opener for our new house. It's a 2 car garage and I have never installed nor do i know anything about garage doors. I knew I wanted a belt drive for noise and wanted something with good amount of HP for the motor. I saw the reviews for this unit and after reading some decided to go with this. Installation: This was the first time I installed a garage door and the instruction booklet did a great job of walking you step by step. It took me about 3-4 hours from start to finish. For step 4-5 they included an addendum FYI. Pretty much everything else was straight forward. I was missing 2 5/8 nut, locked washer, and bolts. Cost me about 2 bucks at home depot to get the missing parts. Extra's: I thought it was cool to have a battery back up in case the power is out. This is more so for the wife than me. I don't care about manually opening it up. We both like the motion sensor that automatically turns on the lights. With kids we find were running in and out getting stuff a lot. Key-less entry pad for outside which is a nice feature. Really simple to install and program. MyQ internet gateway. I love this feature. I get notification to my phone when the garage open and closes. Might not seem like a big deal but if your not sure if you closed the garage you can check the status of it. If you did forget just close it though your phone any where any time. Also if you have someone coming over to your place and your not there, no problem just open it up through the phone :) belt drive: After installation i had to tighten the tension bolt to make the belt tighter. After that i ran through the programming instructions. It is very very quiet, and i have no idea when it's opening or closing. This is another reason why i like to have the MyQ notify me of this. I took my wife out and opened the door and she could not believe how silent it was. The other feature i really like is at night I activate the lock feature. This makes it so none of the remote openers work. You can only open the garage from the hard wired switch. This just adds a little extra security for us. over all very pleased with what I got. I would 100% buy this again if i had the chance to.

    Love the opener
Love this garage door opener. Bought my first one last March for my home. This I bought for my son's home. It is so quiet and I love the MyQ . I told the builder of my new home to not install the opener they had, I wanted this one and would pay separately to get this one.

    Great opener
I just finished installing 2 of these units to replace 20 year old chain drive craftsman. What a difference, they are super quiet and smooth. Installation was easy, instructions very through and easy to follow. I was able to install both units with rewiring and running new wire for sensors , which was the most time consuming in about 8 hours this included taking down the old.Quality is ok as with all new products not as good as the 20 year old product of yesteryear, like everything now a days. The MyQ is pretty cool as you can operate the doors from your phones and know the status of doors with alert being sent knowing when opened or closed. I am very pleased with product and the deal here is real good as it includes the internet gateway a $50 extra

Best overall deal, and totally awesome.
When my 10 year old Genie screw drive model stopped working, I looked at fixing the opener instead of purchasing new. The motor was going to be way more than expected and I decided to look into getting a new one instead. I checked out the competitor blue store, and they had a similar style model for sale, but it was only 3/4 HP and did not include the MyQ package, which was a seperate item. Quick check of the home depot website showed that my local store had this model in stock, and even better yet, at a better price. I took everything out of the box and was a little apprehensive to try and install this myself, but I was able to assemble the unit with the instructions provided. I will say that the pictures in the instructions were a little difficult to follow, and the diagrams were very small and hard to read. It took me about 2 hours to get the whole system assembled. Thankfully, the rail system bolted directly into my old Genie systems rails and wall hanger, so the installation when quicker than expected. I got the entire system set up and installed, including all of the wires and adjusting, in about 5 hours. The system itself is absolutely amazing. It is so quite and so smooth compared to my old screw drive model. I was afraid there was something wrong with my door or the tension bars, but it turns out it was just the fact that the screw drive system is very violent. The MyQ system, while being slightly overkill, is pretty neat. No more will I get down the road and think "Did I remember to put the garage door down?". I can check it from my smartphone, and even let people in if I am not there at the house. I wish I would have bought this sooner, and for the money, was a great investment. Buy this from Home Depot, you wont regret it.

    What a great upgrade!
We purchased this unit to replace a chain drive gone bad. The cost was higher but it brought a lot of features. The MYQ technology is cool. I get a message every time someone opens the door when I am not home. It also allows me to open or close the door from anywhere. I have already used that when family showed up before we were home. I just opened the door from my phone. The battery backup is something we will never notice until the power is out and we are trying to get into the garage some rainy night. I hope we never need it, but it is there. Another feature that is great is the control pad. It alternates the time and temperature. It is something so easy yet now that we have it, I could not imagine not having it. The belt drive is the main reason for purchase. It is so quiet compared to the chain system. It is really needed when leaving early in the morning and not waking up everyone. All in all, we are very happy with the purchase!

This garage door opener I believe is above all the best and quietest garage door opener for our two car single door garage
we just moved into our home and our garage door opener started making some unusual noise because it was very old probably could have been fixed but I wanted a quieter one anyways so I was excited to be able to replace it with this awesome beltdrive .Its so smooth and quiet I don't believe you will find any quieter.our living room is adjacent to the garage and when you close the door the only thing you can here is the wheels of the door itself rolling on the rails .I did a lot of research and this is the one I chose for my family.easy to program if you have your garage open it has a motion detection that will activate the lights when someone starts to walk in,it also had one on the wall mount controller which can be set to turn on when it detects movement as well at it has the time and temperature on the display.I have mine hooked up to my WiFi which works flawlessly ,you can control your garage door from your phone and even set it to give you a notification every time its opened or closed. The wall mount controller also has a button to only turn the lights on the opener which is very handy. This opener is well worth the money and simple to install with minimum skill .I can't find anything I don't like about this opener and would deffinately buy another one just like it if I had another garage lol oh I also forgot to mention the wireless keyless entry I have mounted on the outside of my house another luxury that comes with this awesome Chamberlain opener .

    Quiet as a mouse
When My 15 year old chain driven Liftmaster finally gave out (at the same time that I had to have a garage door repair company replace two thrown sprigs), the technician quoted me $500.00 to replace it, and it would have had none of the features this thing is packed with. I had never installed a garage door opener before, had this assembelled in 20 mins and installed in 30 min. The myQ installation is also a breeze.

    I LOVE it!
I considered this product simply because of the lifetime motor, lifetime belt and is very quite! My nephew assembled the unit, uninstalled our old Genie and mounted this. I was left to deal with the electrical part. Since I am NOT an electrician, I installed the wires generically to the walls and ceiling until I can have an electrician attach the wires to our existing concealed wires. The belt hangs a bit loose but it doesn't appear to pose a problem. I also mounted the wireless key pad on the outside wall of the garage door! I LOVE the ease of using my q. I believe this to be the best garage door opener on the market!

Ability to operate through smart phone, WOW!!!!
Best Garage Door Opener I have seen! I have had this garage door opener for about two months. This is my third house and it is the quietest opener I have ever owned or heard period. After doing some research I decided to try to install it myself. It was my first time and I was surprised how easy it was. The ability to open and close or receive texts when it has been opened or closed is such a great bonus. I have not had one issue with it to date.

      Easy Install (Replacement Unit)
Purchased this unit yesterday after my previous battery back-up opener stopped charging the battery. Rather than spending the money for a very expensive computer board I decided to purchase another unit. This is an upgraded version of my previous opener. It was a perfect fit and was able to just remove the belt from the old opener, removed the 2 bolts holding the track to the unit and 2 bolts that secured the unit to the brackets. Took me about 75 minutes total install time. This unit is very quiet and cant be heard in the house or especially the living area above the garage. Remotes are preprogrammed and I programmed 2 other units right from the wall control. Setting up the MyQ only took a few minutes and connecting to the app was easy.

All that and a bag of chips too!
My 23 year old son assembled inside of an hour. The new Chamberlain replaced an older alternate brand opener and the difference is amazing. Super quiet (worth price of admission alone), auto shuts in 10 minutes, sensor light knows when we enter the garage and comes on, display panel on the opener as noted in picture. Then top this with outside security panel where we simply open by entering a code replacing a keyed entry and the fact we have a phone app and can check if it's open or closed. This unit has the safety sensors that prevents it from closing on someone the former model didn't provide due to its age. Add it has a battery back up and seriously this simply should have been done years ago.

      Excellent value
This garage door opener does live up to all expectations. It works fast, smoothly, has many additional features and most importantly is very quiet. I often cannot hear it open from the adjacent room in my house (have to listen for house alarm chime). My family and I use the 2 included remotes, wall switch and smartphone access. I have not installed / used the additional wireless keypad it comes with yet. I put it together and mounted it myself with the exception of the last bracket connection to the door since my torsion spring was broken anyway. It comes with a wide U shaped bracket to attach to sectional doors but due to the mounting reinforcement I was able to cut the primary bracket and mount it straight to the top of the upper panel. Easy to assemble if you are patient and understand basic tool use. The internet "gateway" is plug and play with a simple free online account setup. The motion activated lighting is nice also along with the programmable automatic door close time (TTC). The smartphone app will let you know how long its been since the door was last opened or closed (good for knowing if family is home yet). Glad my old screw-drive unit is gone and this belt drive opener is in. Never going back...

      Fantastic Opener
When they say whisper quiet, they mean it. I love this opener...worth a few extra $$$. I had a worn out Sears opener...chain drive...and this fit right in its place...quick install with a few basic tools. The only slight issue is the old Sears remotes and this new one's are incompatible...but my old ones are 17 years old. The web connection is handy because I can check the door position, and change it, from my laptop or smart phone from anywhere...no more wondering. I have three doors...will probably replace the other two with these Chamberlains.

Already saved me from a possible headache!
This opener with the My Q app is amazing. Renters forgot to close the garage door when they were leaving and I was not expecting anyone for over a week to check on the place. Got a notification from my phone and quickly discover the door was left opened. With a tap of the screen the door was closed! Great notification feature. Installing at all other properties plus the belt is super quite!

        Quiet Operation and Feature Rich
I ordered this unit to replace a ten year old high end screw drive opener that was loud and lacked many of the features offered by this new opener. The installation is definitely not quick if you haven't replaced a garage door opener before, but is not overly complicated if you have the time to read the instructions and the space to keep everything organized. There are a lot of parts and pieces, and the instructions don't do a great job of identifying which parts go where, so you'll definitely want to keep all of the parts together and well sorted. The only mistake that I made was assuming that, because two prior garage openers had been mounted to the drywall in my house, the instructions were being overly cautious when requiring that the header be mounted to wood. As it turns out, this door is jerkier (perhaps because of the 3/4 HP motor) and it ripped out of the drywall before I was even done training it. It is definitely quieter when mounted correctly anyway, so make sure you follow directions and mount it to a stud! I also used the installation upgrade package, which includes a horizontal bracket, upgraded vertical brackets, and covers for the wires. I would highly recommend this upgrade for a cleaner look once installed, and the rubber sound dampening bolts included to attach the motor housing to the ceiling bracket. Perhaps it is a bit pricey for what it is, but the cost is only a fraction of the overall cost of the opener, and is worth the improved appearance and quiet operation. The sound of the motor takes some getting used to, as it sounds like my drill when the battery is dying. I am not used to hearing a high pitched whine from the garage door opener, so I initially felt like it was underpowered. As I've gotten more used to the sound, however, I realize that it is simply a different sound. More importantly, it is much quieter. I noticed a difference in the garage, but the real difference is inside the house. Our old opener would trigger the motion-activated camera in the nursery and vibrate pictures on walls bordering the garage. All of this is gone, and you cannot hear the opener AT ALL from the nursery that backs up to the garage--even when listening for it. What a life saver! I used a decibel meter to measure how loud the old door and new door are when opening and closing, and attached a picture of the comparison. While the old door opened much faster, it was at a cost of about 20db more noise. The close speed is about the same, but this new opener is about 10db quieter. A 10db increase is double the noise, and a 20db increase is quadruple the noise. So while the opener is not truly "whisper" quiet, it is less than half as loud as my old screw drive opener, which I would consider to be of average loudness. The app is very useful, but has limited functionality. It literally only allows you to see if the garage is open or closed, how long it has been in that position, and to remotely open or close it. I attached a video of the app being used to open and close the door. As you can see, there is a 1-2 second delay (over 4G LTE cellular connection) in response time, plus a 10 second warning to alert anyone nearby when the door is about to close due to a timer or remote close command. One of my favorite features, which is not heavily advertised, is that you can put the opener in learn mode from the control pad rather than climbing up to press a button on the motor. This is also how you set up the included remote keypad and the included internet gateway. The internet gateway must be connected to a router via Ethernet cable, so make sure you have a spare port on your router/switch. My router and switches are all the way on the other side of the house from the garage, but I have absolutely no issues with connectivity. The only connectivity issue I have is with the Homelink in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I checked the Homelink website prior to ordering this opener, and found that this model was one of very few that didn’t have a warning that a repeater may be required. Well, when I called after attempting to program my car to the opener, I found out that I do need a repeater. I only had to pay a few dollars S&H and wait 5-7 business days to get the repeater, but it seems that very few cars will work without one. The repeater will not work when the power goes out, but the keypad still works so you don’t have to keep an extra remote in the car. And I attached my internet gateway to the same UPS that powers my router and modem, so I can still open (though not close) the door with the app when the power is out. Overall, it is a great opener that is really quiet and has a ton of great features that make life even easier, at least once you get it all installed and working properly.

Smooth, Quiet Operation with MANY extras included
The much anticipated unit arrived with no damage. Attractive packaging that didn’t take long before I had it ripped open like a birthday present! Do note that there are pieces contained at the very bottom of the box, below the packaging the surrounds the opener drive unit (and there are parts inside of parts, including parts inside the white light domes on the opener). If you use the carrying handles on the cardboard box, be sure you don't lose any parts out of the openings. The instructions, all 40+ pages, were fairly clear to understand and I highly suggest you read through the section you are assembling prior to any assembly. All instructions are in English and there IS an amendment page included for the assembly of the track car that you need to refer to during the assembly process. Since my installation was "new", there were extra 5/16"x3/4" Bolts/Nuts/Washers and punched angle iron required for my installation. This may vary from your installation. The kit includes the vertical supports to hang the drive unit but you may require a horizontal support based on your installation requirements. Tools required are basic hand tools that most homeowners would have; drill bit, power drill, tape measure, screwdrivers, ladder, 2x4 piece of wood, wrenches, sockets & a wire stripper. All tools are standard; not metric. Final item(s) not included are 2 light bulbs; max 100W "standard". Work slow, follow the instructions and it is helpful to have an assistant; though not necessary. Wiring is simple to follow and simply "plug in". I even found that they have an "actual size" guide sticker next to the wire plugs to guide you on the amount to strip off; very helpful. Programming was a BREEZE. Unit is FULLY adjustable for open & close "heights" and re-adjustable if necessary. I REALLY like the "soft open/close" where the unit slows down to about 1/2 speed near fully open & close. The unit is ULTRA quiet! My door makes far more noise than the opener itself. Extras included with the kit are 2 door openers for your automobile, a wall mounted opener for the garage (more to discuss shortly), outdoor keypad & unit allowing your capable cell phone to open the door (though I have not used this portion yet). The wall mounted opener is NICE. Neon blue backlit; button for open/close; light button. Displays time-of-day, temperature & back-up battery charge status & more. Last notable feature is the battery backup, allowing limited operation cycles of the opener in the event of power loss. WAY more features than I expected this to have right out of the box!!!!!!!

Great garage door opener. Unfortunately if you are trying to connect to your smart home, Chamberlain will charge you an additional monthly fee to use each smart home integration that you want. For example, there is an extra fee to use with Amazon's alexa, an extra fee to use with IFTTT, an extra fee for Google Home. It is surprising to me that Chamberlain's MyQ app would charge users even more on top of a $250 garage door opener.

DSMan, thanks for your comments. We currently offer 2 optional subscriptions:1) Google Home and 2) IFTTT. We do not currently support Alexa, but we are working with numerous third parties and will announce new integrations as soon as they are ready. Users can access all of the MyQ features and functions right out of the box, no subscription fees necessary. The subscriptions are available to users who want the specialized features available with IFTTT and Google Home. Chamberlain-DIY

Assembly was easy. MyQ never worked. After a few months the garage door couldn't be closed with the remote key. I now use the wired button to close the garage door. It keeps saying there's an obstruction, when there is none. Resetting doesn't help. Lights no longer come on when the garage door is opened.

Great door opener. Compared to genie after power surge took one of our openers out. Genie is not what it was in the past. Chamberlain is very quiet and fast opening. Included the keyless entry pad, 2 openers, and wifi MyQ system. This is the opener I would buy if the other genie went out.

Extremely quiet, love the internet alerts
Unfortunately this took me a long time to get installed because of issues with my garage unrelated to this opener. This garage door opener is extremely quiet due to it's belt drive. It's so quiet I can barely hear it opening except from one room over the garage. It's good that I get alerts on my cellphone otherwise I wouldn't know if someone else is opening it or if I accidentally pushed the button on my keychain remote which I purchased seperately. The garage door can be programed to automatically close after a period of time so even if I do accidentally open the door it will open the door it will close soon after. Not a problem unless you choose to use a keychain remote which I prefer. Installation was very easy and the instructions were easy to follow. The battery backup is a great feature, especially if you have a vaulted garage like me with no other access to the garage besides the garage door. The garage door will open and close a few times even without power. I was recently inside my garage during a power outage. The garage door opened slowly to let me out but it did open. I tested it a few times with the power out and it worked fine. After the power comes back on it charges the battery back up. Like all SLA batteries they'll need to be replaced every few years. Remotes are easy to program and the new rolling code system is more secure however you may need an adapter if your car has built in a garage door opener remote as it may not be compatible directly. Personally I don't like to keep an opener in my car even for those times I leave the car in the driveway. The opener has plenty of power. I have an old, solid wood single car garage door and it lifts it without problem. It was easy to connect it to my wifi network and I can control the garage door from my computer and phone if I'd like and check it's status from anywhere. I also picked up a couple of MyQ light switches for some exterior lights. The switches can be programmed to turn on and off with the garage door or you can set them up to work with the remote buttons. I don't think you can do both and you can't program the lights to come on at specific times of the day. The light switches can also be controlled over the internet too. My garage faces south and during some parts of the day the sunlight will interfere with the IR sensors and the garage door won't close. You need to press and hold the garage door button on either the inside control or the wireless keypad remote outside. Adjusting the sensors when the sun is out helps a bit but I still run into issues.

                  Too bad it was discontinued
I installed mine about a month ago, and couldn't be happier. It's very quiet (like a higher pitched whine sound instead of a low rumble). I really like that the control panel (button) has a LCD display with the temperature, time, and other info. We had a sensor become misaligned by my son on his bike, and the display told us in English what the problem was. Brilliant! My parents need two new openers, and I can't find this model anywhere. The replacement doesn't have the fancy LCD panel that this one does.

                    Awesomely Quiet and Cool
Replaced a 16 year old extremely noisy Genie. I was going to replace it with a Genie but every installer recommended Chamberlain. I can see why!! It is quiet and I love the Smartphone features and motion sensor lights. Buy it- you won't be disappointed.

Love my garage door opener, after a rough start with tech support!
I love this opener! It is really, really quiet! I had trouble with a bad wire on one of the new motion sensors. Tech support was completely useless and actually hung up on my son about 5 minutes before they closed for the night. He sat on hold for 20 minutes and had been troubleshooting with them for a 1/2 hour before they just disconnected him. I figure they didn't want to stay on the phone after closing, so it was much easier to hang up on him. I eventually was able to use my old wire with the new motion sensor and was able to get it to work. Other than the installation problem, I love this opener. It is much quieter than the one it replaced and is a lot more powerful. I can open from an app on my phone over the internet. That is glitchy and slow sometimes. Other than that it is great though.
