Does not dry..
This product has good idea to include dry color indicator. But the problem is this thing never dries. I waited for 1.5 days after a first application, but I still see pinky color where gaps were filled with this. I ran a fan to dry this up quicker, but did not help. This product is also very sticky, like jelly, so very hard to control and apply. I would not buy this again. The attached picture is my wall 24h after the first application. The pink color is still visible.

DryDex Spackling is a water-based formula, as such, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool (air and/or application surface), humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces and/or by thick (deep) applications of the patch. As indicated on the product package and supporting product literature: "One application is usually sufficient for small repairs. For repairs deeper than 1/8”, apply two or more layers allowing spackling to dry between applications." As depicted in the photograph (attached in your review), it would appear that the thinner edges of the repair have dried (turned white), and the center-most potion of the repair has not yet fully dried (still pink). This would likely signal/indicate a change in application depth/surface conditions in that area. Because you did not indicate the size/depth of the repair, application surfaces, surface preparation, application technique or application conditions, it is difficult to provide a more detailed response in this format. This stuff had hard bits in it right out of the gate. Impossible to work with. Even tried a little water and a mixer hoping the compound was not fully mixed. Didn’t work. For a more expensive spackling paste, I expected more. Don’t buy

Based on your commentary indicating: "This stuff had hard bits in it right out of the gate.", it would appear that you may have purchased material that is aged or beyond its normal shelf life. As product ages, it will thicken to the point of becoming difficult or impractical to use (newly purchased may not necessarily be of recent manufacture). I will never buy this again.
This stuff has the consistency of pudding and is not good for vertical surfaces. It shrank into the smallest joint and ran down the wall onto the floor. I used it for joints and screw holes and the next morning it was virtually gone. I will not be buying this product again. Very disappointed in this product. I have never had issues like this with any DAP products in the past.

DryDex Works Fantastically
I’m finding it comical that contractors say it’s a horrible product...It doesn’t dry well and they are unable to sand it. Before buying this house, I was an inexperienced white collar worker who had never done any home improvement projects. The contractors that worked on my house renovation left it looking poorly and I had a lot of patchwork to do. This product was perfect. I have had zero issues and the walls look 1000 times better than they did when a “professional” was here. Of course it takes longer to dry depending upon how thick you apply it and after it has turned white, it’s good to go. Any kind of glitteriness will disappear with proper sanding and then proper painting. Also for those who say it dries out quickly… I have found that the smaller containers do not have the greatest lids. I bought a 32 fl. oz. container and that lid snaps on very well. I dispense small amounts into a smaller container each time I use it so I don’t dry out the large one and I double up by also putting the 32 oz. container into a gallon Ziploc for even better storage.... its been a bright pink/fuscia each time I’ve opened it.

Drips from ceiling
Needed to patch small 1/4" around ceiling fan kept dripping down. Tried 3 x's and it is still too soft. Never had this happen before.

Works as advertised. Built up a sizeable patch in several layers, sanded well. Had a small area with odd bubbles that required fixing before paint.

good product
Good product for any dyi’er or beginner because the color change from bright pink to white makes it easy to identify when its ready to paint and sand. Dry time for me was not as fast as i anticipated. Took longer to chage to white but i know that temperature and thinkness makes a difference

Like that it goes on pink and when ready to paint it is white, no guessing if it is ready to paint. After it is painted can't tell the difference from the rest of the wall. the patch needed was a bit large but it is covered and ready to paint.

great for baseboard nail holes
Used it on pre-primered baseboard nail holes. Sanded with fine grit sandpaper then painted. No evidance of nail holes to be found

When I pulled my old diswasher out, i saw a wall in terrible condition! Holes and uneven drywall. I patched the biggest hole with a metal and mesh wall patch. After sanding, I painted the walls white. When my new dishwasher arrived, I was proud to have clean and white walls to house my new dishwasher. Nobody will see my good work with Dap patching from now on, but I know how great it looks!

Worked as expected. Had to patch some old speaker...
Worked as expected. Had to patch some old speaker holes. I used pieces of drywall to fill in majority then drywall tape and covered with DAP spackle. I let it dry overnight since it was a pretty good later, then sanded, textured and painted. I still need practice, but this was a great product to use. Picture attached is work in progress.

Buy a container with a cover
The product is good, but the packaging is absolute dog crap. In order to get any of the product out, i had to cut off the entire tip, so I can’t reseal the container. I thought I was being smart, but I got played a fool on this purchase. I will use the contents again, but Ill never be duped into buying a tube again.

I have used the DryDex spackling compound, and it worked pretty well. But this Joint Compound is horrible. If you have any larger cracks or holes, it sags right out of the hole, making it useless as far as I'm concerned. Normal joint compound can fill larger cracks without sagging...I'll stick to it in the future.

For deep fill applications, we would recommend the use of thicker/heavier bodied spackling compounds such as DAP ALEX PLUS Spackling. Not for filling holes!! I would call it totally worthless as it never got hard enough to stay in ...
Not for filling holes!! I would call it totally worthless as it never got hard enough to stay in a one inch hole in sheetrock inside in warm temps. More like horrible gooey stuff! See pictures taken trying to use it to fill a hole.

I don't have much experience, but so far this is the best plaster I've used. Filled up spots fast...
I don't have much experience, but so far this is the best plaster I've used. Filled up spots fast and easy. The color change makes it easier to spot when you can continue working. Heavy moisture areas take a little bit longer, obviously, but overall the dry time was pretty fast.

Great product!

It works way better than the old formula!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this new DryDex Spackling it goes on pink and dries white, which is an improvement from the old formula. It also seems to dry harder than the original stuff.The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is that I think more product should be included in the container. I used this to seal in between ceiling panels but I ran out mid project.

Great Product! Easy to use.

I loved the consistency! I love the color. That makes it so much easier to tell when it dries! It dries fairly quickly (you can watch the pink fade). I'm very happy with this product.

Great product!

No mess, easy to use, and no cracking or sanding required. This product is a pink/purple tint, but turns white when ready and finished! Love it! Great size tub of product also. Nice product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the DryDex Spackling around my house to fill screw holes, scraped up corners and random dings in the walls. When wet it went on pink and dried white. I was able to sand it down, apply some texture and paint. It looks like there has never been any dings. It was easy to use and did not make a mess. I used a spackling putty knife. A knife does not come with it. I would recommend this sparkling!! I'm attaching some before pics.

Easy to use!

It was very easy to use and smooth to go on. I was skeptical at first because it goes on pink but it dries white. That was great though because there is no guessing if it's completely dry or not. It did not crack and filled in nicely. I would buy this again.

Works perfectly!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This DryDex Spackling works great! I love how it changes color from pink to white when it's dry so that I don't have to wait longer then necessary to know when I can sand or paint it. It is perfectly smooth with no grittiness or chunks. It is easy to apply with a putty knife. It sands off really easily too after applying to a crack. It definitely works better then other products I've tried. I will keep buying DryDex in the future and recommend to other to do the same!
