First DeWalt Disappointment
First Home Depot failed me, I ordered for in store pickup and they didn't have my free battery so i had to cancel and order again but for home delivery. I waited patiently and when it arrived i made sure to fully charge battery yet this thing won't cut a 2 x 4. The included DeWalt blade is a "framing blade"... Unbelievable. DeWalt customer service trying to get me to mail it to a warranty center pr something and wait for it to be mailed back. NAH, its going back to Home Depot tomorrow.

You can use a rip fence
The channel that the rip fence rides in was mis-cast / cut, but a few minutes with a Dremel tool and it will fit. Not sure what it does to the warranty. Great little saw otherwise

      I highly recommend
I have two of these Dewalt units one Milwaukee and one Ryobi unit. I do not have brand loyalty, I buy what works the best. Of the three I have, the Dewalt is by far the best, works great, I have used it to cut through vinyl siding and concrete with great results. The Ryobi also worked well on both, the Milwaukee, just needs more gripping space for big hands. If you want a great tool at a slightly higher price, buy the Dewalt. If price is a factor buy the Ryobi, both will make you happy.

            Nice little saw
This Dewalt 3 inch cutoff tool is pretty great. It cuts through a variety of materials like metal, tile, stone, plastic, and drywall/fiber cement. I would love to see if I can find a wood blade. It would be nice to use it for small pieces of wood or plywood. It comes with three blades Abrasive Wheel, Diamond Multi-Material Wheel, and Diamond Tile Wheel. It include a removable dust shroud but you need an adapter to hook it up to a shop vac that is not Dewalt. All around it is a good saw for small quick cuts.

            Great for making small cuts
The DEWALT 20-Volt XR Cordless Cut-Off Tool holds a 3 inch blade. This is a great tool for any small projects where you need to make some cuts. I have used this on cutting a handful of bathroom tiles where I needed to make a 45* cut. I’ve also had great success with cutting stripped screws, and bolts which were impossible to remove. The blades are quick to change and this model includes the dust shroud with adjustable shoe and AirLock. Another great feature is that you can conveniently change the direction of the cut depending on the application. This is great for a professional or your normal DIY. It also is Lanyard Ready (TM) Capable to protect against drops, and is Chip-Ready to allow tracking via the TOOL CONNECT (TM)

            Awkward tool
My review of the DEWALT 20-Volt XR Cordless 3 in. Cut-Off Tool. I don't usually say this about tools but I don't get the purpose of this tool. I have air die grinders and cut off tools. The work better and are easier to handle when cutting metal. This tool is typical DeWalt quality but I think there are design flaws . It comes with a quick release guide/ guard but with the exhaust port try seeing your line. The tool is reversible so you could turn around or pull towards you but like I said it is awkward. I would love for some to come out with some videos for practical use of this tool because maybe I am just using it wrong. I came see that it may be useful for cutting tile. But for metal work I will stick to an air tool. Giving it 3 stars just be because it is built well and if you remove the guide you can cut metal so it is an alternative for people without the air option.

            New favorite tool!
This might just be my new favorite tool. The size and power that this little guy churns out, is a game changer. We are redoing the siding on the house with hardi plank and this cut off tool is just cutting through the boards like butter. The size is great at making intricate cuts while also being small enough to lug around all day. Since the only other Dewalt tool we have is the 20v lawn mower, the battery from the lawn mower worked just fine with this tool. Changing the discs is quick and painless, and there is an on board allen wrench to help with changing of the discs. The tool comes with a dust cover, however you will need to purchase a seperate adapter as its a unique connection and was not able to use it with my ShopVac without it. There is a light at the base of the tool that will help light up your work area. You have a choice in which direction the disc will spin with a selector on the unit itself as well as a trigger lock for added safety. The disc guard has a 30 degree rotation which can be adjusted by hand without any tools. It is not variable speed, (no trigger control) either just on or off. The tool comes with 3 different cutting discs to get you started with various projects. So far with the included discs I have been able to cut tile, cement board, rebar and old nails.

            Great 3" cut off tool
This tool has been well thought out and seems to be built with quality components. The weight distribution is nice. Comes with vacuum dust shroud that is easy to remove if you are not vacuuming tile dust or wall board dust. The access to the spindle screw is easy with lift up cover on the shroud. Has built in light. easy to access spindle lock button and the 6mm wrench is stored on tool. Comes with 3 sample blade, metal cutting, tile and general. Depth gauge adjust is easy.

            Great Sander
Have used this alot and does a great job. Pros and cons to having it battery operated. I like the flexabilty of not messing around with a power cord, but I go through batterys really quickly... I dont know if the sander drains the battery really quickly or if i need to buy new batterys! I like the setting to change power output from low to more powerful.

This handy-sized saw is a great addition to DeWalt's lineup of 20v MAX brushless tools. The 6-1/2 in. blade size makes this saw easier to handle but can still accomplish plenty of tasks. This saw feels great in the hand and isn't too heavy, depending on what capacity battery you're using. The handle plus the support at the front provide a comfortable grip while cutting. The LED light automatically turns on when you press the trigger and is a nice feature that helps improve visibility. All the levers and locks work as expected. Changing the cutting depth is a breeze. The lever to adjust the bevel is very tight out of the box, but once you get it loose, it's easy to move. Installing the blade is simple despite poor instructions in the manual. There is an Allen wrench attached to the saw itself, so you just pop that off, press down the spindle lock, and install. Operating the trigger feels natural and safe. The blade immediately stops as soon as you let go, thanks to the electronic brake. This saw feels plenty powerful and capable for a 20v cordless saw. It cuts quickly and cleanly. I wouldn't consider this saw to be quiet, however. It's not overly loud, but there are competitors with quieter options. The left-sided blade works well for this right-hander, providing decent sight lines. This saw comes with a dust chute attachment that very easily pops right on with no screws, but unfortunately, it's not the only piece you need to fit it to a shop vac hose. An adapter that is sold separately for $20-30 is required. One other minor quip is that the blade guard is made of plastic, which is disappointing considering the comparable 7-1/4 in. model has a metal blade guard and is cheaper at the time I'm writing this. Overall, I am impressed with this circular saw! Packs a punch for a more compact, cordless design.

The DEWALT 20-VOLT MAX BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 6-1/2 IN. CIRCULAR SAW (TOOL-ONLY) is a great upgrade of their 6 1/2 inch cordless saws. Favorable features include an LED worklight that illuminates the cutting area so where the blade contacts the work can be easily seen, a bracing handle at the front of the saw to steady the saw when cutting, brushless motor, a magnesium shoe, a dust port vacuum attachment and a rafter hook. The saw also comes with an electronic brake, allowing for a quick blade stop when the trigger is released. Features are included to allow for an easy blade change, which include a blade brake and a hex wrench that embeds in the handle. The one drawback and concern I have is the plastic lower blade guard. The guard wobbles quite a bit and isn't likely to be durable since it's plastic. Other than that, this is a good, quality saw that should provide many years of service.

I did not know how useful this battery powered saw could be until I got one!! Needed a support on my wood fence. Took the saw and a 2 x 4 to the back of the yard. Measured, marked sawed and installed in just a few minutes. Then one trip to the basement to return the saw and hammer. No extension cords to roll out , then roll back up.The Dewalt 20 volt saw is small and easy to handle when cutting a miter, but heavy enough to hold true on a line. It has plenty of power to cut through a 2 x 4 without slowing down.

I really like the design and quality of this saw. It’s nice to have the Allen tool for blade change attach right in the handle so it won’t be so easy to lose. The feature of the light sure makes it easy to keep the saw on the cut line and I find the weight of the saw not to heavy for a full day of working with it. The rafter hook is a great feature and the way it folds down out of the way when not needed is great. The speed and power is suitable for framing and most construction jobs that I do.

What a lightweight little powerhouse of a circular saw! I got the DeWalt 6 ½” circular saw for three reasons: the company reputation, my personal experience with their products, and the size and weight of the tool. Sometimes whether in my DIY garage, a neighbor’s back yard, or wherever, I need a circular saw that doesn’t require me to drag a 150 foot drop cord. This tool is very well qualified to get the job done. It comes with everything you need to get started. What’s really handy if you’re working in the shop? The sawdust collection port snaps right on to the frame - no screws! The 18-Tooth carbide tipped general purpose blade cuts quite well, and the 5000+ rpm motor gets the work done quickly and neatly. And if you need to change to a finer blade, no problem. The hex wrench blade tool is locked in the rear of the handle, so that it is always available and never get lost. The bevel will go 5 degrees in excess of the standard 45-degree bevel, for certain instances, very handy. It cut my 2x4 and 2x6 lumber with no effort whatsoever while making a new work bench for a neighbor. And with the 3-year warranted, you are well covered. I keep this saw in the front of my shelf now!

I used this saw to cut 2x6 and 2x10 treated lumber for a new deck. It cut through those boards like butter. Worked way better than I thought it would and the nice led light made it easier to finish at the end of the day when the sun was setting. Good power for a smaller saw. Looking to get the 60v next.

Be careful when purchasing this battery. I purchased with the Dewalt DCD791P1 (Brushless XR 20v drill/driver). This battery was listed on HD's site as option. The battery has the same model number as the battery that came with the drill, but did not seat properly on the charger and lock in place. The pin design on this battery was different than the battery that came with the drill. It would not charge at all because the design differences. Date codes on both drill battery and this battery were both 2020. The drill battery has a set of 6 independent slots for the pins in the middle (picture). The battery that HD had for this one has 5 taller slots like the 2 outer ones in my picture. Another indicator is the black piece in the grooved area. Battery supplied with drill is as shown, but the battery I received was all yellow.

                kinda nice saw
Just got this saw I think it has real potential, do not know how it cuts yet. but these are my very initial thoughts on it on right out of the box. the depth setting is poor, hard to read, the handle gets in the way for the smaller figures/depth, from 1/4" through to 1" very hard to see, which is where the saw will be of most use. I will be adding some marking colorant to the notch and bracket edge to help delineate depth marking, The way it is designed it tends to hide the moving mark, on mine, there are two marks on the steel, which dose not help. you have to have the saw in two different orientations, for small depth of cuts looks through the handle towards the blade, for deeper cuts you have look down at the handle, along the blade. I have been used to the Ryobi tools where depth setting is consistent, and readable from only one direction you do not need to tilt and turn the saw to see the depth markings, and the markings are clear and easy to see. What there is no rip guide? The rafter hook and balance is a little wanting, I have doubts that the hook will hold the tool it almost looks as if it was put on backwards, perhaps when on 2x wood it will pinch fit, it feels in hand that the tool will just fall off a horizontal board. Dang, give me light. not unreadable red lines (Ryobi's laser line hopeless in daylight), the light is great and will help in holding the line even in shade, or dark, Why put fractional points on the base, why not set the cut mark on a whole number, what the heck is 1 - 1/8? WHY? Put the blade 1 inch in from the edge of the base on one side and 4 inches on the other side not 1 -1/8 one side and 4-1/8 on the other? WHY? The best part of the whole tool Electric break, the major reason for getting this tool is it stops and stops fast. My Ryobi has a run-on of about 15 seconds. which is longer than several earlier Ryobi models. let the trigger go blade stops, and lifts upwards away from the cut. to be seen how that acts on cutting. The big reason for getting this tool alone. The next thing is the dust shute, makes attaching a vacuum to it possible, also, why take a notch out of the base just leave it square, the notch is not that big, but!!!!!!

The Walt pulls it out of the hat!!!
"20volt Magic" is what they should call this puppy. Tyler said the corded version would work better, but then he tripped over the cord. So, battery power it is. I use this to sand down small projects around the house and even have a photo to show some of the work it does. Not bad and yes it even hammers in the nails. Good multi-tool and no cords to trip you up. Also works great with other lithium batteries from the Walt. The dust bag is really small tho and doesn't hold a lot. So I just take it off and complain to myself about how much saw dust there is.
