Weak
I bought this mower last year and now it barely works for 15 minutes when the batteries die.

Save yourself time, money and frustration
Don't buy the DeWALT DCMWSP244, look online at the reviews. This is a one time use product. Mine worked once, now it has the red flash of death. FlexVolt batteries didn't help. Customer Service was useless, after weeks they didn't have a clue.

The biggest piece of trash Dewalt has ever made
I love how I am on my third DCMWSP244 Lawn mower, the first one only drove in reverse, which is amazing because there is no reverse gear, the second one broke within one lawn mowing, the third one lasted about 7 mowings. And now I'm told there is no service center anywhere around me. I cannot believe how poor your quality, cutsomer service and product is.

        Perfect example...
Of why battery power is a failure at it present technology. Ok. First it was a open box. But NEW. 1st. I fixed the issue with the integrity of the trigger for front wheels. But 2.8 years it's dead. -6 months; 1 of the batteries is dead. NOW THE MOWER DO NOT POWER ON.

          Just don’t buy,
Ready out the box, battery took 8 hours to charge,, only last 30 min, I am sorry , but the self propel is the worst handle I ever used in my life……. Never again !!! And it’s a nice mower, just that my expectation for a 1/4 acre lot was way more ,, it kept shutting off and just didn’t cut to my expectations, I have had battery mowers before and this one really sucks, I kelp thinking the bag was fill, and it was empty ……just not good at all any one who gave this a 5 ⭐️ had to get paid for that ⭐️.

            Missing Parts
Just purchased this lawn mower brand new out of the box, however, it appears I’m missing some parts. I am missing #18, the upper handle knobs. I’m nervous about all the bad reviews I’ve been reading, I haven’t used mine yet obviously without these knobs. I am hoping Dewalt can send me replacements?

I really like my Dewalt lawnmower
This is my third summer using my walk behind self propelled drive lawnmower. I really like it. I really like how I can just put it away for the winter and then in spring. Just put batteries in it and go no maintenance! The self propelled drive works great. I do prefer the belt drive to the electric motor drive so i am glad that dewalt used that system. Much less to go wrong. How many belts on a gas lawnmower has anyone had to replace for home use. The lawnmower cuts the grass just as good as any gas powered lawnmowers I have owned. Yes you do need at least 2 sets of batteries. But you need that with any cordless lawnmower. It is a shame that I can only give this lawnmower 4 stars. To start with the batteries. I don't know why dewalt just didn't use the 60v batteries! When I first bought the lawnmower I used my 60v 6ah batteries in it. And I was able to cut a half acer with 1 bar left . Run time was 1 1/2 hours hard use. With 60v 9a batteries I have 2 bars left. The 20v 10ah batteries they don't last that long. In my 20v tools the 20v 10ah batteries they are great. The batteries chargers that come with the lawnmower are a joke! When you buy the 60v tools. You get a nice 6ah charger. It only takes 45 minutes to 2 hours to charge a 60v 9a batteries. And the 20v 10ah batteries a bit faster. The blade yes it bendes very easily. They should have offered a better high lift blade and thicker. It does not bag well at all. However as I mulch cut the grass this is not a problem for me unless the grass is to damp. Then it plugs the lawnmower up. For it is not that much of an issue. As I just have to glean it out which is easy enough. Just aggravating as I have to stop to clear it out which is embarrassing when the neighbors are watching. Hopefully dewalt will offer a better high lift blade for it. Yes I do recommend this lawnmower and all the dewalt garden tools as they work fantastically. The grass I was cutting when I first bought the lawnmower was 36 inches tall to 24 inches tall. It just plowed right through it.

                Just quit working
Bought this mower in late summer 2021 to bag mow an area 30 ft wide by 60 ft long and by side of house about 80 ft long and 8 ft wide. Mower worked great for the 3 or 4 times i used it it 2021. In 2022 mower still worked great mowing same 2 areas from April thru September. Always kept mower clean after each use and ensured vents were clean and no grass build up under mower deck. Then in 2023 on 2nd use put in 2 fully charged 10 amp hr batteries and nothing. Tried 2 brand new 8 amp hr batteries and nothing. Tried new 5amp hr and even tried 2 new 9amp hr flex volt. Nothing. Key has been re-inserted. Nothing. The battery compartment has a little battery charge indicator and it does not light up. All my batteries work the weed eaters, blowers and other tools. The mower just quit working. So basically paid over 500 for 2 10 amp hr batteries since mower is out of dewalt warrenty. Going back to old reliable gas mower or switching of to Milwakee or Makita or Ryobi. My 20v dewalt 12in chainsaw did same thing. Only made small cuts on overgrown branches no bigger than 2 to 3 inchs in 2021. In 2022, made sure bar oil was full and chain good to go. Made 2 cuts on some branches and just like mower, it just quit working. Was using new 5 amp hr battery. Tried several batteries but nothing. I've been using dewalt 18v for yrs and then switched to their 20v system about 6 yrs ago. Have about every outdoor tool for home owner with trees. Own lots of dewalt specialty tools for mechanic work. Never a problem with those tools. Just the chainsaw and mower quit. Gonna sell it all and switch. Can't see buying another dewalt mower and chainsaw to only get a few uses then just quit working.

                  Nice lawn, worthless customer support
I love this lawn mower, the problem I have is it was faulty out of box, the rear axle was pressed I correctly and would not hold height adjustment, "limited 3 year warranty" garbage, tried to make me send my entire lawn mower through ups to make a warranty claim. It was a manufacturing error, all I need is a correct rear axle, and all I got was a run around, I wouldn't recommend dewalt lawn mowers to anyone I know, due to the simple lack of support. My tool is not broke, the axle was assembled wrong.

                    buy more batteries
No way you can get an hour from these batteries. I can’t mow half a small front yard and that is with minimum drive assist. I know because I am looking at a half mowed yard now. Plan on 4 or more batteries to do a whole front and back yard in one run.

Don’t waste your time and money on dewalt mower
Easy to assemble. Mower looks good out of the box. Battery life was acceptable on the mower. Easily pushed and operated. Mower broke down the third time used. Batteries still working, mower not. Complete waste of time and money. Buy a different brand or go back to gas powered. Don’t waste your time contacting Dewalt. No service repair shop’s in my area. Cannot be shipped out to be serviced due to size or whatever reason they have. First electric mower I bought, going back to gas.

This is a workhorse. Cut my lawn in half the time.
My experience of using and advantages of DeWALT DCMWSP244: OK i bought this mower and put it together. I cut my grass at the highest setting because I like to have green grass and not dirt. I have the Dewalt front wheel drive. The Dewalt replaces a Black and Decker (B@D) SPCM1936 that I had forever. I gave it (B@D) to my daughter (for her new house) and decided on buying the Dewalt DCMWSP244 with the 2 DCB210, 20V 10AH batteries and 2 of the DCB107 chargers. Charging the batteries took some time. I was used to it since the Black and Decker took over night to charge. I mulch. So I checked the blade and made sure it was tight and sharpened. I wasn't prepared for the excellent experience I was about to have. When I first fired it up, it was very quite and the blade speed seemed about the same as the Black and Decker it was replacing. Also the unit was much lighter. I was, at first, unimpressed with the speed and thought ehh is this going to cut the thick high grass in the back? Well, as soon as I started mower, when I hit the grass, the RPM and power kicked in. WOW! I call it intellisense overdrive. The mowers RPM will adjust to the cutting load. Way cool! The FW drive is not assist. It is self flying. It took me a couple of minutes to get used to the slip belt drive but as soon as I did me and this mower were in sync and I was in Nirvana. The self drive will pull the full weight of the mower. Made mowing easy and fast. What normally would take me 40 minutes to mow, took 20. Boom. Nice. The front wheel drive I wasn't sure about but quickly became a fan with how easy a serpentine grass cut pattern was able to be set with lifting the front wheels up and turning on the free floating rear. I like front drive. I found it effortless. I read these reviews and I don't think people are using big enough capacity batteries? I don't know but I guess many bought the cheapest 20V 2.5 AH batteries to feed this horse? Let's compare some math. The B@D was a 36V battery at 12 AH. That is 437 Watts for a brush motor. I was able to cut my land of 85Ft by 200 with 1 battery (almost to depletion lets say really low RPM when I was done) a HP (Horse Power) is 746 Watts. EM (electric mowers). With Qty 2, Dewalt 20V 2.5 AH batteries you only have 100 Watts available. This is why your mower won't work. Buy a show horse and then don't feed it? Not smart. The 20V 10AH give you 400 Watts available. I would only suggest running this on 20X 10AH batteries or larger. The Dewalt is brushless so no losses due to brush contact (sparking and heat). Very comparable to the Black and Decker. I know its Math and I don't want to do Math! Tough, I LOVE math! I am an Engineer. Back to issues THIS NEEDS LARGE BATTERY PACKS TO DO WORK! FEED IT!. EM's are 6 to 15 times more efficient than stinky Gas mowers and gas mowers noise levels are at a deafening 95db while EM's are at 70dB. Gas mowers are 6X louder than EM's. Some things I did notice. I also had an issue with the rear height adjustment hitting the rear wheel? This was out of the box. I also noticed as you changed the lever it made a smile in adjustment height? It was supposed to just from lower to higher? It went from high to low then starting rising again? I measured each "Click" on deck height to garage floor. Something was wrong with the rear adjustment knob. I quickly realized that the handle (spring steel) had slipped from where it should be in relation to the chrome metal part that the wheel mounts to. It was about 60 degrees forward of where it should have been (Yes,more Math). So I muscled it back to where I though it should be using the front adjustment height as a guide and then measured at each click. Once done. I drilled a hole and placed a shear pin in the location so the lever and axle part could never slide across each other again. This also solved the handle hitting the rear wheel and the rear wheel hitting the deck on the highest setting. Most likely, during shipping, this friction arrangement (adjustment handle metal against the chrome metal that is attached to the rear wheel) can move due to the weight and handling of the mower? If your deck height (bottom of deck measured to the floor) is not the same from front to back (when you are on the same adjustment setting) you most likely have this issue. As well as if the adjustment handle is hitting the wheel, this is another clue. After this, issue, batteries charged and Mowing done. I still had three bars on both batteries. I am pleased. So some thoughts? Keep the blade sharp. You hit something, check the blade and sharpen. GET SOME BATTERIES WITH LARGE CAPACITY, 10AH OR HIGHER. Don't scalp your lawn. Keep the under deck clean. Why would you let dried on grass build up an inch thick.? It is a tool. Take care of your tools.

                          Failed immediately
Used this on grass for about an hour then it stopped for low battery. I noticed one battery still showed full and the other empty but I charged both anyways. Tried to use later and now mower faults immediately when trying to cut or use self driving with both batteries on full charge. Suspect there is an internal wiring issue. Also, it appears Home Depot gave me a used unit based on the condition of the packaging when I received it but the inside looked good so I didn't immediately return. Wish I had now.

                            Used commercially for small backyards
Occasionally I have a customer with an area that my big gas-powered equipment cannot reach. This mower does a good job in those small areas. The batteries last long enough I could do areas shown, several times on a single charge. It is nice that I do not have to mess with all the pitfalls of gas equipment. The self-propel mechanism actuator cable slips out of the notch it was supposed to stay in. Took handle apart, put adhesive in the slot, reassembled. Now works flawlessly. Like 20V compatible.

Cheap plastic between wheels and deck failed
There are 2 screws (1 each side) on the front holding the wheel assembly to the deck. After a season of using the mower the plastic tab on the right side failed. Dewalt said I could send them the mower to repair but I'd have to purchase a large container for shipping. Was easier to drill a hole to secure the wheel assembly to the deck. There was already a hole in the plastic which was perfect.

Very disappointed in this product and Home Depot!
I read many reviews on this mower and it was not at the top or bottom of lists but since almost every tool I own is dewalt leaving me with enough batteries to cut the whole neighborhood I went with it. It's a good thing I had all these extra batteries because it took both 10ah and 2 5ah to cut about 90% of my quarter acre yard. I was unable to finish the whole yard because I ran over an uneven spot in the yard and the cheap blade bent enough that the mower would not run anymore. I have a honda walk behind that has cut this same yard a hundred times before without issue. I could probably still use this mower and just treat like cheap mower when using it but there is one problem I've been to 3 Home depots and they sell hundreds of blades just not this one! i found 1 blade on the internet that they claim will work but it's a 20 inch instead of 21.5. I can't believe the largest home improvement company in the world does not sell a blade for a mower they sell out of the store. This was the first use of the mower so I'm going to repair my honda and continue using it for another 10 years. I am a professional automotive mechanic and own many dewalt tools for work and lawn care. This is the first time I've been dissatisfied with a product.

                                  Dewalt self propelled lawn mower
I am a loyal Dewalt customer. This mower is a poor design I have 1/4 acre typical city lot. I cut 1-2 times a week. This mower can not cut my lawn without me raising it up high and cut super slow and I use 4 batteries. I contacted Dewalt service center They said their is nothing they can do it’s just a bad design . They were nice but said they don’t guarantee run time n said 1/4 acre is too big for this mower 25 min cut time is too long. They are sending me 2 more 20v batteries.

batteries die within 5 minutes can't cut 5 inch high grass. Have a 60 x 80 back yard. Batteries need to be recharged 11 times to complete mowing by the time I finish the starting point has grown in. Worthless product don't buy this if you have a lawn, a patch of grass it's fine but for lawns it's worthless!

Don’t take low reviews to judge
I almost passed on this due to reviews even though I’m a Dewalt person. Out of box-ready to go. Charged batteries only 1/2 charge to see if I liked. I’m over 55 &in Florida heat hitting 96 today. 1 pinky driving in self P mode.. no energy exerted but basic walking. I mowed .40 acres at 3pm sun 96.. just a test was whole yard lol. Well worth the $. Charge held up fine. Cut high thick grass w ease on low level 1 (Side note; batteries Hot after& cooling before able to charge: not sure if normal)

                                          Dewalt mower
I don’t have a huge yard to mow. A little less than a 1/4 acre of grass. I was blown away by this mower. I’ve only bagged the clippings. Haven’t used the mulch function. Was able to cut my whole yard and the supplied 10 amp hour batteries still showed full charge. So battery life thus far has been a non issue. It cuts well and works great. No more gas cans and fumes. I have the trimmer and blower as well. I’m very happy with the ease of use and performance.

Better than what I was expecting
Great performance, use less than 1/3 of the battery charge to cut all my back yard. Definitely much better than my old gasoline lawnmower.

                                              Disappointed and Dissatisfied
Purchased this unit a year ago and it has never worked . The torque and suction power of the blade is poor. The battery life will not last 30 min on a full charge and I am forced to cut my small lot in 2 days. I am looking to get a gas mower and scrap this unit.

                                                Dead in 13 minutes
I should have believed the reviews. I’m going to spend more for a Milwaukee, hope that works. My DeWalt days are over. Their circular saw is ok, not great, but after my experience w their blower and this mower, I’m walking away and may never go back to yellow.

STOPPED WORKING AFTER 15 MINS OF USE!
I bought the DCMWSP244 lawn mower and have used it once for 15 mins on short grass in front yard. When I went to the backyard to mow, the mower kept quitting when I engaged the self-propel. The indicator on the battery case was flashing red [FYI - this isn't even mentioned in the manual what that means or what to do - SEE PIC]. I let the mower sit for 30 mins and tried again. Same thing happened. Thought it might be the actual batteries, so I charged them overnight. This morning, same thing happened. Mower started, engaged self-propel, mower died. So frustrating and upsetting!

                                                    Miles Better Than I Expected
This mower is easily the best lawn mower I ever used, this is also my first battery powered mower as well. I was a little apprehensive buying it kinda doubting it would be as good as gas but man was I wrong. I fired it up after charging the batteries the next morning and I was surprised how quiet it was. I thought for sure it was going to be extremely weak. Nope it handled a very damp and 3 week non mowed lawn like it was nothing. Areas where I know a gas mower would get bogged down or stop this thing cruised through them like a Sunday drive down the boulevard. Minimal vibration and gets the job done easily. Not to mention I STILL had enough power in the 10ah batteries to pop them out, put it in my weed trimmer, knock that out AND stuck the same battery on my blower and was able to finish that with zero problems. Dewalt makes a chore an absolute pleasure

                                                      Poor Engineering
This lawnmower pull handle hits the handle creating pressure on the brittle yellow plastic. Putting pressure and breaking the plastic. I bought 5 of these units and everyone of them is broke in the same place with 5 different people using the machine. I looked to get parts to fix them and it’s out of stock. That’s telling me it’s a known problem that should be recalled. Both side are lifting. Notice the pull hand it’s the bar and does not rest flat to the handle. The nine self propelled is a lot better than the self propelled

                                                        Gool Alternative to Gas Mowers
I bought this just a week ago. Some assembly, but took very little time & not complicated at all. Great little workhorse. Easy start, mowed my very thick, rolling hills lawn for over 1/2 hour and the batteries were still charged. The self propel is a little weak, mostly intended for flat areas, but still worked & not bad to handle due to its relatively light weight. Word of caution; make sure the batteries are fully charged. I read some of the reviews with people claiming they cut their lawn with the charge that was provided right out of the box, and I would say that is a recipe for frustration. I tried that and it was aggravating, because it ran for about 5 mins. Also, be sure that the receptacle you are using grabs onto the charger plug prongs nice and snug or you will get a false full charge reading. Long story short, I do like this as an alternative to gas powered mowers. It has plenty of gusto, you don't need gas, spark plugs, and NO STINK! My only complaint is the condition of the box when it arrived.

                                                          Unusable out of the box
Imagine paying $500 for a product that can't be used out of the box. The problem is the rear-height adjustment: The lever presses against the rear wheel and scrapes it as you push the mower, resulting in an unpleasant noise and a not-so-smooth mowing experience. It also makes adjusting the rear wheels extremely difficult. This is clearly either a design flaw or there is a bad batch of assembled mowers. Either way, it's extremely disappointing. I can't even comment on how it mows or the battery life, I didn't get that far. Every power tool I own is a DeWalt, but I'm returning this one.
