Virtually dust free. Using 80 & 180 grit on pine, didn't need to do any other sanding, went right to staining. No swirl marks.
Worked every time I turned it on. Dust collection worked well.
Wear earplugs. Just like other electric sanders, it's noisy.
Highly recommend it.
Got it at HD. for 80 bucks. Well worth it.
This sander is awesome. I bought it a couple years ago, and have used it for so many projects, many of which involved using it for over an hour at a time. I've never had it overheat or stop on me. The pad grabs the discs very well, and is easy to change (I did have one set of discs that didn't seem to grab very well, but I blame the discs, since it was only one set that has ever caused a problem). I like that the cord is plenty thick, and especially beefy where it enters the tool (I have a bad habit of picking up/ setting down tools up by their cords). The weakest point in my opinion is the dust bag. The latching mechanism is a little cheap, it seems, and the fabric slipped off once ( I think it got stepped on, which tugged the fabric away from the plastic). I got that fixed though, and it worked nicely. The dust bag gathers quite a bit of sawdust, but a lot ends up in the air too. I feel like this is typical of any orbital sander, so I won't hold that against DeWalt in this case. Overall, I love this thing, and I'd like to buy another when it goes on sale, so I can sand with two different grits, without changing the pad.

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this sander. A huge and important spec was the 8ft cord. If I have a corded tool, I want the cord to be long as possible. what a bummer when I opened this box to find...about 5 foot long cord. I'm not sure if the internet specs were off or if its a DeWalt issue. I'm currently reviewing all the box contents to see.
Can't really speak to the product quality...the cord won't reach my project. Very frustrating.

As a woodworker sanding is very important. I was using a different brand and thought it was fine until I used this one. I was doing some work out of town for a friend and he had one of these. It was amazing. As soon as I got back I bought one. And since I’ve bought 5 more Dewalt power tools.
This orbital sander took a clamp divot out of a guitar body I'm building. I'd been sanding on it literally for days with a different sander and nothing was happening. Within 5 minutes, this thing took down an 1/8 inch divot to a point that you can't even tell anything was wrong. Hardwood, by the way. I bought Diablo universal pads to go with it and they worked very well. The dust bag does work, but you can still get choked out if you don't have a mask or a strong fan. It's fairly light and easy to move around. If you stop moving with it still running, it will keep digging into the work surface.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for a floor refinishing project, took stain and polyurethane down to bare wood with ease. Left a perfect finish. Keep up the great work Dewalt!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 6 months ago and have used it on several projects. Yesterday I ran it non stop for about 6 hours and it performed flawless sanding the front door and I really enjoyed the fact that it didn’t tire me out from running it. My next project to punish it is refinishing the stairs, then repainting the garage, then redoing the sunroom. I think this DeWalt will bring it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it came time to renovate my basement, I knew I would need to update my old DeWalt 18v tools.
My wife gave me clearance to buy every tool I would need.
I’ve always been a fan of DeWalt, so it was an easy choice.
I needed a new sander and I wanted one that has the hook/loop fasteners to attach the sandpaper.
I liked it so much, I bough two of them.
My only regret was not knowing that a 20v cordless model is available.
If you are reading this, just buy it. You will not regret it.
