It lived up to the hype. I also bought the X27. Even large rounds, 12" - 14" are split with a few blows with the X27. The X25 is good up to probably 10" rounds. I'm taking down a large live oak and I will split for 30 to 40 minutes at a time. Just turned 76 and this is a great axe. Already split 1/4 cord. Only issue was they shipped me copper supply line for AC the first time. Had to return that to store and get credit. Reordered and that took a couple of extra days. Things happen!! Still, good axe!!!

Great Axe! After we installed our Wood Burning Furnace, I went to our local Home Impovement Store and purchased a Splitting Axe that was far heavier then the Fiscar, everytime when I prepared Wood It was a a real workout. I am not scared of Work but it started to wear on me. A great Friend of me came to visit and brought me the 28" Fiscar One swing Axe. WOW!!! WOW !!! WOW!!! Waht a chage! I had to suddenly wear a Jacket outside. The Axe is amazing!! I have compared it to other Axes from Friends and find this to be the best Axe ever. I work in a Hardware Store now and got these in for the Customer because i believe its superior to all other Axes. Well done

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been splitting wood for a long time and let me tell you, nothing comes close to the Fiskars X25 Splitting Axe (28"). With just one strike, you can split any log you are working with. I split large cherry wood and others. This baby slice through wood like butter. The polymer handle is lightweight and durable. This ax makes splitting wood fun. This tool will last you for a long time. After using it countless times, it split as if it’s the first time you use it. Extremely happy with this purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I moved into my first house back in 2015 and I've been missing one very basic, yet surprisingly still very useful too, the splitting axe. No more struggling with a chainsaw with smaller, quicky jobs where a quick swing of the axe will take care of it. I haven't used it extensively yet for splitting logs but I did a few to see how it did and I found it to be incredibly well balanced and a much less wear on the axe swinger than other axes I've used. Seems to be very well crafted and made with tough materials. 5 stars

I needed to split some larger pieces of wood for easy starting of my fireplace insert. This axe does the job with one swing. The label on the axe says "One-Strike Splits" and they ain't lying.

I have a lot of large tree limbs down in my yard that I've decided to cut & split myself. This axe has turned what I thought would be a difficult, boring chore into a fun exercise/hobby activity. I'm a 5'5", average build, 30-something lady and the size/weight of this axe is incredibly easy for me to handle, but if you hit the right spot it will drop through a 8-10" diameter log like there's nothing there. I've had success with larger logs too but those ones take 3-4 strikes. I would definitely recommend this (paired with a small chain saw) for anyone like me, who has a LOT of big old trees on their property that always tend to leave "presents" in the yard after every storm.

I am going on 59 years old so I'm not as limber or strong as I once was. I chose this ax because it is shorter and lighter than some which I hoped would work better with my strength and height than some of the other axes I viewed. I am GLAD I did because it is a very fine cutting tool. It makes splitting the logs relatively stress and pain free. I recently split green logs from a tree felled the same day and the ax performed quite well. I found that with whole logs it took a few strikes, but once initially split it was typically single strike splits thereafter. The construction seems exceptionally durable and the ax head sheath is very well designed as blade protector and ax hanger. It was worth $20.00 or so more to get this ax rather than less expensive options. I suspect this ax will outlive me if treated properly the way any fine tool should be. Thank you Fiskars!

This is my go-to splitting axe. Great tool. This plus a Fiskars 8 lbs. splitting maul is a perfect combo: a "driver" and a "five wood." These two tools totally retired my 12-lbs. "monster maul." I use the 8-lbs. maul (much easier to swing but more effective than the 12-lbs. monster) as little as possible in larger rounds - and then just to break them initially - and then move over to the lighter X25 to work the wood from there. The X25 is light, feels great in the grip, and precise/easy to handle - much easier to swing for longer amounts of time than heavier tools. And, it just works. No need to swing larger mauls in small to mid-sized wood. I wouldn't be without this axe.

After reading the reviews and watching Youtube videos, I had to give it a try. After taking my first swing with the X25, I was sold! It just put my old splitting maul to shame. Wish I had found out about this splitting axe years ago.

This is a wonderful splitting axe. It enables the user to work fast without fatigue. The head design results in mostly one strike splits. There are no downsides to this item. I also bought the 36" X27 model to pair up with this one. They both rate five stars.

Being a Senior (over 65) and doing a good amount of physical work, I was anxious to see if the Fiskars Axe met up to to the reviews of other people. Standing at 5' 6” and shrinking I purchased the 28” X25 Splitting Axe instead of the longer handle one. It felt comfortable in my grip and swinging the axe was lighter than conventional axes. The head and handle are uni-body construction, no slipping head or head becoming dislodged from the handle. The specially designed head, in fact, makes splitting the wood so much easier. That is not to say you still won't need a wedge for those hard to split pieces and the fact that it won't replace a log splitter for quantity cords. In the pictures, the maple logs that were being split ranged in the 12”- 14” category and the amount of that wood split took me approximately 30-45 minutes. So yes, if you're looking to upgrade your current axe I would definitely look at the Fiskars Axes.

Good looking, well balanced and feels natural in the hands. Needed to replace a maul that got loaned away. This splitting ax makes the job much easier and safer.

I have been working firewood for 15 years and recently purchased the Fiskars. I have has larger splitting axes and much heavier. By far this is the sharpest and easiest axe I have used to split wood. It has speed and power to go through 12" blocks or less with ease. On larger blocks I still prefer a 8 lbs splitting axe. I friend recommended the Fiskars and I use it 80% of the time

Ordered this ax as a means to help me take a tree down in my front yard. I thought it would compliment a chainsaw nicely. 20 swings into it, I realized I would be able to chop down this tree sans chainsaw. Deftly balanced and of appropriate weight. It transfers impact away wonderfully.

Haven’t used it yet but definitely better than I thought it would be.

I sell firewood for a living and I've been through a lot of different axes and every one of my fiskars axes and splitting mauls last longer and split wood better/faster than any of the other axes I have ever owned or even used.

Works very well and seems very solid so far! I like the size and weight - it's perfect for me (5'11" female). Hope it holds up to continued use for many years.

good splitter, one whack like it claims

Perfect length for a shorter person such as myself at 5'6" but still able to generate enough momentum to chop 12-18" long logs. Blade was easy to sharpen after chopping two tree trunks

love this axe. ima girl, and not very big, but i can chop some wood with this fairly easily. shipping was fast and it arrived in perfect condition. i think i'll get the matching sharpener next. the sharpness definitely helps!

Very sharp and split logs easily

I tried it out with couple of eucalyptus logs and it was splitting good. Good price and quality, will last a long time.

I haven’t used the Ax, but I have used the hatchet, and it’s amazing. Make kindling with ease. It’s very light and the wood splits with very little effort. I highly recommend.
