Good product
Easy to install and set up. Light and powerful. Instructions could use clearer wording so as not to confuse people when setting the down limit. Emphasize that the down button should be held LONG. Otherwise, when the installer sees no LED indicator light, he/she may think that the unit is faulty. The product is smooth and quiet. Works as designed.

I installed this door opener on 16' wood garage door 6 months ago. The door opener is very quite compared to my prior screw drive door opener. The door that I installed this on was a 16' Wood panel door. Prior to the installation I had replaced the torsion springs on the door and confirmed that the door was balanced. The door opener has no problem in opening my wood door. The only negative that I have with the door opener is the remotes that are supplied with the door. They are very small.

Compact, powerful, very quiet
I installed this unit myself yesterday, replacing an old 1/3 HP chain-drive unit that was extremely loud (and broken) with the help of another person at just a couple of points when it's convenient to have more than two hands. I didn't have any real problems with the install, because the instructions are excellent. That said, it would have really helped if the instructions had mentioned anywhere, even just one time in small print, that the carriage assembly must be locked onto the turnbuckle for the belt to actually open the door. I guess the Genie folks just assume everybody knows this. NOT! Anyhoo, the hardest (and most fun!) part of the assembly was figuring out how to securely hang the opener on the ceiling using the support bracing already in place, which wasn't exactly where I needed it because the rail for the previous unit was a few inches longer. But that's what God gave us metal strapping and hacksaws for.
Once the opener was secured on the ceiling, I made the cardinal mistake of letting my curiosity get the best of me whereas I skipped ahead of the instructions and decided to "test" the opener with the remotes. DON'T DO THIS, as the unit will essentially shut down and not work, with the LED lights giving you the "component failure" signal. Per the instructions, you must install the two laser beam units and the wall console (my garage was already pre-wired for all this) and then go through the prescribed programming steps IN ORDER to get everything working as intended. Live and learn.
This project took about 6 hours for me to finish, but I wasn't trying for any world record and an adult beverage or two might have been involved. I think I could install one of these units now in about 2 hours, now that I know what the gig is. Every time I do one of these single-shot type of projects, I come to realize why there are people available you can pay to do it for you, who have done it many times before and know the game plan and all the fail points ahead of time.
This opener is as silent as advertised, and even better it really does easily open and close my 16' metal garage door with the push of a button. It's like magic. I'm very happy with it. But I'm not that happy to see that Home Depot put the bigger but basically equivalent SilentMax unit on a "special buy" $30 off sale which made it $20 less than I paid for this QuietLift unit. The only difference between the units is the SilentMax has two light bulbs and the remotes are 3-button instead of 1-button. I don't need the extra light bulb and the remotes are pretty useless to me (other than for setting the HomeLink in my car), but I could sure use the extra $20.

VERY happy in Mobile Al
Bought this today in Mobile Al to replace a screw driven Genie I installed 15 years ago. I was able to use the same lift arm and safety sensors from my old unit which saved time installing. With my sons help we got it done in about 2 hours including programming everything INCLUDING the wireless outside panel!!! We even were able to reprogram the old remotes so we now have spares for visitors. Best of all it is WAY more quiet than my old Genie. My youngest son even said he can sneak in late through the garage now. And my 4 dogs have not been triggered to bark once by the lack of sound from the new opener. Highly recommend this unit. Great for the price

Bought 2, they're both broken
I bought 2 of these on sale to replace 30 yr old openers. A little over a year later, after opening and closing the door maybe 100 times one stopped opening all the way. Genie sent parts to fix it, but I haven't gotten around to it because I open the door so infrequently. Now the other door it didn't stop when I opened it, and burned something out.
2 lightly used units gone bad in less than 2 years. These things are total junk. Jenie, I won't be buying anything else from you...

Had the 3/4 HP Grnie, supposedly the same unit for eight years that finally bit the dust by having cogs on the the rubber drive come off. Rather than replacing the band I just wanted to get a new one incase another part was ready to go. The new one 3/4 HP looked bit smaller than the old one and would not work correctly. The gears on the drive wheel were skipping making a noise and would not allow the door from maintaining up down positions. Returned it and bought the Genie 2 HP Signature Serees that cost more but works great. Home Depot doesn’t have this item at the stores but delivered it from my order online.
