The product was easy to assemble. I was surprised how rough the lumber was. I was expecting alot better quality for the money. After sanding and several coats of polyurethane, it turned out amazing. Great product but be prepared to work to make it look nice.

My current mailbox post is falling apart and shaking during high wind, so decided to replace it with something similar. After googling and researching found this post and decided to order. When it arrived in half-damaged box, I wasn't happy already. But this is Home Depot fault for bad packaging. Now to the post -- I don't know why, but when I took it out of the box, there was a lot of dust (see picture). Two out of four sides of the post weren't sanded properly and look just ugly. WHY? Was it hard? I can sand it myself, I can even paint it to hide ugliness of red/white wood. But what's the point of paying triple price of standard 4x4 post if I need to do it myself? I would say avoid.

For the price, this is a great option! Many people complain about the rough cut wood and knots. I just took a belt sander and removed all the grooves. Now it looks amazing! The metal “no-dig” mounting stake isn’t the greatest and doesnt secure the post. After installation the post remains wobbly. I purchased a ground screw post anchor separately to secure the post.

I like the design. It was easy to install and looks good. The only issue is that the included screws are junk...in every case, the entire head of the screw just twisted off while installing the screw. I had some extra wood screws at the house and just used those in place of the defective ones included in the kit.

Ensuring that it is level perpendicularly on all sides takes some finesse. A rain saturated ground plays a factor. Nonetheless, assembly is straight forward and easy. A small sledge hammer is required. Excellent product with hardware included.

This was very easy to assemble by a female Senior! It looks beautiful in my backyard on a raised wall. WHAT!!?? A mailbox in the backyard you say?? YEP!! I am using it for a bird house stand, not a mailbox holder. It looks beautiful with my wooden bird house on it!! The kit for me was much better than buying the wood, measuring the wood, cutting the wood, buying the screws, etc.
Easy to assemble, works great, looks great.

I would recommend it with the caveat that you do NOT follow the installation instructions....unless your ground is harder than a rock (or a cedar pole). I had to take the entire thing apart because the metal stake just got pushed farther into the ground rather than going into the cedar pole. I placed the cedar pole against the side of my house, whacked the stake into the cedar pole and THEN whacked the pole+stake combo into the ground...worked great. Now, if it doesn't get eaten by ants or weed-whacked to death in under 5 yrs, I'll be thrilled. Way cheaper than the alternatives, which still required a pressure-treated 4x4, and I like the look.
