The Home app walks me through the installation and gives me detailed instructions. Mounting is easy with the magnetic mount that’s included. This camera can either be plugged in with waterproof power cables or it can run on battery. 1080p HD with night vision. Instantly get phone alerts. High quality product at an even greater value. I’m very happy with this product and the secure end results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] WOW, this has to be the easiest camera to install! I have yet to decide where I would actually like to place this Google Nest Cam, which means I need to buy more. Currently I am only using the magnetic mount and moving it to multiple places and I honestly need more of them in my life! Just download app, go though install steps and bam you have a camera with live viewing, two way microphone and video recording. The magnet is super strong and keep in mind all exterior doors have metal so it's a breeze to snap on a door. I promise you will end up like me and want 10 more.

I was excited for this with the brands Google and Nest behind it. However it looks like Google bought Nest and is starting over. If you like getting in at the beginning then this is for you, if you like waiting until more bugs are worked out, then I suggest waiting on this version. If you have old Nest products there's a disconnect with the new Google home app that needs some updating. So if you like Nest, you might hate having to migrate. My main reason for two stars is that after trying to diagnose and use online help for two weeks I have intermittent connection issues where I am unable to view "live" video. I've tried a bunch of settings, locations, reboots, and can't get a stable setup. Boo. The video does seem to be a bit grainy for being 1080, but since I can't get a solid stream that's secondary. Side note even though I can't view live, it still records to event history, so I know it can record and connect to the router. Also, what engineer thought it was a good idea to put the charging cable going out the front and not the back. If you wanted to set this up with a power cable instead of 100% battery you have to deal with that awkwardness. To end on a high note at least the packaging comes really well put together, like you would expect from a high end electronic device.

I love Google Nest cameras and products and currently have 5 outdoor,3 indoor, a thermostat and smoke detector so was REALLY looking forward to the battery camera giving me the ability to going wire free BUT unfortunately I am not impressed with this camera. This configuration gives you 2 cameras with one charging cord,2 magnetic bases and hardware to install into most surfaces(except for stone etc). A big drawback for me is that you CANNOT use the Nest app and can only use Google home which I am not a fan of-imho the Home app is kind of ‘wonky’,difficult to navigate and although you get notifications it doesn’t come with a preview like the Nest app. To set up the cam you hit the plus/+ and add to your account and follow the prompts to connect to your WiFi and account. It comes with 3 hours of event activity but if you don’t have a monthly or yearly subscription to Nest Aware like I do then it’s kind of useless and won’t allow you to see things that happens before or after you 3 hour free use. Getting this camera to connect to my WiFi was both annoying and VERY frustrating considering it took me less than 10 mins to connect the hardwired cams to my system. I have unlimited data usage on my internet plan and is high speed just below 1000Mbps so there should not be any issue and I checked my WiFi app to make sure it was fully connected and had a signal. Plus I have WiFi satellites in to further extend the signal.They kept dropping off with ‘offline’ messages and I had to reset each cam 3 times. The battery life I can already tell will be a problem since it dropped by 10% after the first day with minimal usage as compared to another battery cam brand that I currently am using that still has 60% power after 6months from the initial charge. The picture quality from the cam feed is quite good and you can zoom in/out for a closer look and you can hear/talk with the cam as well and has a decent sound when talking via the speaker. You can ‘hardwire’ the device with an optional power cord but why? If you are going to then just get the hardwired one and be done. This battery cam is larger than the hardwired one and heavier due to the battery but the very strong magnetic base will hold it securely in place. Overall a big disappointment considering I really love Nest products but not being able to use the Nest App so everything is in one place is very frustrating although Google says they will/maybe add it in the ‘future’. It isn’t for a lack of trying because I spent an entire 4 days trying to get these to work and stay connected but it just wasn’t happening. May be your experience will be different but mine was not a fun one.

It really only took me a few minutes to get it up and running plus some extra time for updates. I love the magnetic mount! It is so easy to install and remove the camera if it needs charging. I love that it can be charged or plugged in based on what I need. My favorite part is the person detection. It does such a good job detecting and recording people who come to the house and alerting me immediately to it. I've been really impressed and will definitely be getting more!

Unfortunately, our area has been hit with a bunch of juvenile crime including car thefts and break ins. We were looking for a security solution to help us monitor our driveway. I was able to set up the needed app,link the 2 cameras,include my wife in permitted viewing and mount the hardware in under an hour. The units include mounting plates,screws and mollies for drywall. Once the plate is secure you attach the metal base by simply twisting on. The cameras have powerful magnets that hold them to the metal bases. It's simple to adjust them for the perfect view. These cameras are battery operated so you have to recharge them with the provided cable. I do not know how long a full charge lasts yet. The app that connects them is full of features. The cameras work in daylight or at night and you can store 3 hrs of footage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Google Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery) is a nifty camera that you can either use indoors or out. It connects with wifi to your home network. It also allows you to set parameters so that it records events within the set parameters so to not record more than needed. In saying that it helps with the battery life by doing so. While I have not had mine that long, the manufacturer boasts that the camera (with minimal recordings a day) can last up to 7 months on a single charge. It has night vision that sees clearly as well and it picks up audio in it's recordings too. It mounts easily and works well with an app provided by Google. We definitely love this camera and will be purchasing more in the future!

Love the look of these cameras, though they were a pain-in-the-butt to get hooked up and online. But I am overall very pleased with the images and the ease of placement. I am currently in temporary housing after a tree fell through my roof and I have been wanting some kind of alarm system to deter potential criminals when I came across the opportunity to try these out. There is a huge learning curve (especially for us older, not-so-technologically-proficient types) so be prepared to be frustrated. Be patient with the devices. They are heavy and would hurt something if you threw them. They will eventually connect after you have watched half a dozen YouTube videos and finally determine what you are not doing, because they never informed you in any of the apps videos. I decided to utilize the magnetic bases to hold the cameras, one in the living room, hidden along the drapery rod, and the other in the dining room, attached to the dog's metal cage. They catch all the front rooms of the house. I feel safer knowing they are there. And Google Nest is a brand and name that I trust..

I got it so that I could keep an eye on my backyard, specifically my basement and I have a better peace of mind now, especially when I’m away from the house. Installation was quick and easy, and the picture is good during the day and night. The unit is designed to allow the camera angle to be easily adjusted. The unit does have to be recharged ever so often, based on usage, but it’s a trade-off I’m happy to make to avoid needing wires to operate.

It has a wider range of view than all other security cameras that I've previously used, and its unbelievably simple to install since you don't need to worry about wiring it up. It has great picture quality even at night due to it's advanced night vision capability. I love the ultra user friendly interface through the app, it notifies me about everything I do want to know about and nothing that I don't. This is really a top quality security device.

The camera is sleek and attractive on the inside of my house. It’s in the living room and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. I love being able to check in when I’m out of town. I am especially looking forward to using it this winter when I will have it face my thermostat so I can check on the heat working in the house during freezing Minnesota winters. I now have 10 Google Nest Cameras, they are positioned around my property and work quite well, keeping me apprised of what is going on around my property when I am not outside. The battery cameras work really well and provide notifications letting you know when the battery is nearing need of charging. The battery cameras usually last about 5 days on a charge, but that varies based on the amount of activity in the cameras vicinity. I bought my first Nest camera 2 years ago, and it’s become a bit of an obsession, meaning when you get one, you find other opportunities to add another, followed by another… etc.. Overall, I would recommend any of the Google Cameras to a friend.

Outstanding product. I bought to monitor my horse pasture which sits a good ~150-200 ft from my house. I get a good image and it was worth every penny for my peace of mind. ?

You have to keep charging it every 2 weeks

Purchased this in May 2023. NEVER detects dark colored vehicles. Records maximum of 10-20 seconds even though there is constant movement and set for 3 minutes. When I try to connect to see live video, it never connects. When I try to tap on recorded videos it never connects. Video isnt even clear, low quality. Very rare that it connects. It isn't my wifi strength because I had a previous much cheaper camera that had no issues. Wish I could return or exchange. Save your money.

Absolute waste of time and effort. Battery lasted 2 days. Buy the wired

Nightvision is not as clear as other nest devices I have.

Unless you looking at something 10 feet or less, no problem. These cameras are useless.
