We loved this butcher block and finished it as per instructions. However, after staining and upon polyurethaning it, the surface became riddled with white splotches. A chemical reaction that destroyed the finish? Beyond disappointed

Put this over my washer/dryer and lucky enough that it fix the space exactly. It's gorgeous, thick, heavy and gave new life to my old beat-up washer/dryer. Note that you MUST finish the piece with a day or so of taking off the plastic. I wasn't prepared for that, so had to run out quickly to get stain and do it on a work night instead of waiting until Saturday when I had more time.

Looks nice after sanding and staining with a clear coat

I used this to add a new top to my workbench. It was the perfect size and looks great!

Created an indoor bench "hearth" with the birch. The "good" side had a couple of slits of pith I needed to clean out and fill, but still looked great. Sanded through 320 grit. Many coats of DIY wiping poly applied, and it's beautiful.

This is now the third board I've received (and returned) from Hardwood Reflections. All have been terrible quality. I wish I could attach more than six pictures to show how poor quality the products that this company makes are.

I looked at this butcher block at another box hardware store and it was $150 more than Home Depot. The quality of this block was amazing. It sanded well, stained and varnished and looks great. We are using it as a coffee bar at our church. I would highly recommend.

Great used this as counters for my laundry remodel light sanding stain and polyurethane.love the results

Exactly what I was looking for! Beautiful block of wood; thick, solid, sturdy. Put clear finish on it and used it for a desk.

Unfortunately, this company’s YT videos are misleading. I selected the best looking slab available at the store, from about 12. Once opened at home, it was upsetting to see the poor quality. It is not all solid-wood butcher block.

Beautiful and versatile, can be treated with any finish that you like. Easy to work with and easy to coordinate with existing decor.

I recently purchased this butcher block to use as a desk top. It's a nice solid piece and structurally, should work exactly what I need it for. As for the appearance, I'm left disappointed. After finishing I noticed a few sections of wood filler that I couldn't see before. For over 200 bucks for this piece, I'd expect better methods of quality control from the mfg. Beware that if you are using this stuff for a big countertop project that this exists.

I picked this up today 8/11/2021, it was still strapped to the shipping Pallet and the HD employees did an awesome job of assisting me obtain one. I am using this for a 3 inch workbench top. The bottom will be 1 1/2 yellow pine. Got it home checked it out no dents great shape, actual size is isn74 x 25 x 1 1/2, dead on demensions, the package also lists this size. It is also flat in every direction. The corners and edges were well protected also. Both sides are finished flat and square to the edges. All the glue ups/lamination are straight with no voids, which produces a this solid piece of wood which is very heavy. I have removed the plastic protective covering and will do an update after it acclimates in my shop. Looks awesome. I looked into where the wood.is from and it looks like it is actually from Finland.

Love it! I used it to make a computer desk for my workstation and I could not be happier with how it turned out. Was super easy just gave it a rub down with some Tung oil and got some steel legs from home depot as well. 10/10 for looks and sturdiness

Look for dents etc. Pick a good one , USE TUNG OIL. Beautiful new counter/breakfast bar

The butcherblock counter tops were easy to stain and finish. They were easy to fit together. The only issue I have is they are not sanded completely flat. There are definitely small waves in the wood. It isn't noticeable when they are finished. They look great.

It turned out beautifully and easy to finish.

I wanted to open up my kitchen so that I could used both side of the counter, so I took out two walls and put a 3 drawer unit against the part wall I left. I purchased my butchers block instore as I wanted to make sure there were no dings or dents on it. I needed help moving it as it's a heavy item. I've found it quite easy to work with and it cuts and Sands great. My project is not finished yet and I can't wait to get some oil on it to see the finish article.

Not sure why someone would make a counter top and add wood filler. Totally disappointed.

I purchased the Burch butcher block to stain and use as a desk top. While staining I noticed strange splotches on the wood in a few areas. Thinking it was the way I applied the stain. I tried restaining the areas the splotches. To my surprise the splotches that would not take stain and seem to be shaped from normal wood deformaty but smoothed over with some sort of filler that can not take stain. To fix this issue, I had to sand the butcher block back down to completely get rid of the filler splotches and restain the board.

Beautiful piece of wood. I stained it with a natural stain to bring out the natural color.

Not quite completed yet as we will be adding a few more coats of poly but loving the look of my new kitchen counter tops.

I bought this unfinished birch for my kitchen island and used the home depot recommended famwood glaze coat on it. Two months later the wood contracted, got bent and came off the counter. I need this product returned as the wood should not contract with changing temperatures if it was treated properly by the manufacturer. Need help with return. I want to replace it with finished butcher block than unfinished. I hope they refund me the amount spent.

I am 100% happy with my purchase of this HARDWOOD REFLECTIONS butcher block countertop model BBCT1502574! It was easy to cut, sand, season & condition. Don't be intimidated using this to make your own countertop, island, shelf, etc! This is easy to work with. As you can see in my photos and video (https://youtu.be/CYHCr-nx53o) it is well made with high quality 100% solid northern european birch that is naturally antibacterial. The wood is a slow growth, closed grain hardwood that is durable and has similar looks and physical properties to hard maple. This is a nice durable product and with proper simple maintenance it will look like new for many years. I used 400 grit sandpaper in-between each coat of mineral oil. What I did was I squirted mineral oil on the butcherblock, spread it lightly with a spreader, used a terry cloth towel to apply the oil to the sides, let sit for 8 hrs, wiped off the excess with a terry cloth towel, let dry for about an hour, sanded it, then repeated the process 3 more times. As for the conditioner it was the same process except I did not sand it in-between coats. Here is a link to my video to see what oil and conditioner I used ( ) What I love about this is if you get a cut, ding or other marks in the wood it is easily sanded, seasoned & conditioned to make it look like new without having to buy a new countertop. This countertop is solid and heavy. It looks awesome whether you use a lite or dark mineral or tung oil. If you are not going to prep food on it, you can stain or use lacquer to finish this beautiful slab. I have used this heavily to process my food, wild game, vacuum sealing, using heavy equipment and much more with no issues. I use a cutting board to cut things so I don't cut into the countertop. Besides, if I do make a cut/mark it can fix it easily. I give this 5 stars and I do recommend this.

Stained and clear coated makes a great counter top for rec room

Used this to build a custom sit/stand desk. Came with minor imperfections on the underside that I filled and sanded, though this was a matter of personal preference. Solid piece of wood that stained decently and meets my intended purpose perfectly.
