We had a large heavy older metal window which keeps sticking. Other lubricant applications haven't really eliminated the issue. We thought we'd try graphite powder. Number One: application only works if you hold the tube at a perfect vertical angle. After the window was raised, it was impossible to apply the powder along the window side rail. Number Two: it was difficult to get the graphite powder to come out - had to shake it down - and then it was difficult to apply exactly where I wanted. It goes back to that vertical angle - trying to apply it to the side rail wound up with powder on the sill rather than the rail. Number Three: three g is a tiny amount. The tube is 3 1/2" long and less than 2" is powder. Back to the drawing board for fixing that window.

This Hillman powdered graphite lubricant is ideal for household and auto lock to keep the lock tumblers lubricated. The graphite tube has a nozzle tip for easy insertion into the keyhole. The graphic is non-conductive. Don’t wait until the keyhole get jamb, if you do this product would not work. If you feel it hard to lock just squeeze a little bit of the graphite into the key hole and put your key into the keyhole and exercise it unit it smooth again. What ever you do not use a petroleum product to lubricate your locks. It will only introduce dirt in the tumbler and gum up. Making the lock useless.

Never use anything sticky or oily to maintain a lock. Graphite is the best way to loosen up a sticky lock without doing damage. This usually is all you need when you have trouble inserting or turning your key.
Out of habit, I shake the tube before using, then just put a couple of puffs into the keyhole. I also use graphite to lube latch and deadbolts that are sticky. Although I didn’t see any residual graphite on my key after using this graphite, I still always wipe the key off to prevent black streaks in unwanted places.

This is your classic lubricant for Cub Scout Pinewood Derby cars. Does it actually make the car go faster? I don't know, but it is fun to think that it does.
It is dry powder lubricant rather than an oil. It is less prone to running but the power has a way of getting everywhere too.

The Hillman Powdered Graphite Lubricant worked well on multiple locks. I had a couple of door locks where the key was sticking when inserting/removing. I puffed some of the graphite into the key hole and slid a key in and out numerous times. The action was much smoother than before the graphite was applied. There are two problems I ran into with the product. First, because of the tube design and the material inside, it is hard to get product to come to the tip of the tube and blow into the lock. Second, if you do get the product to blow in, it also blows back on your hand/clothes. Maybe removing the doorknob and placing it on a flat surface so the graphite tube can be pointed down would work better but that is far more work than one should have to go through.
Sure it is great for locks, but I've found some other uses for it too when you don't want an oily...

4 stars. I took off one star simply because I think a novice or first time user might be confused by the application process. I know I was the first time I tried this. Maybe a few more instructions on how the "puff application" works?
You "puff out" a little bit into the lock or surface. It really isn't obvious what you are doing, especially if you are used to dropping oil into things. I wish they could come up with a different way to apply that gave more feedback to the user. None of that matters once you understand the product. My suggestion: practice a little application on a sheet of paper first to see how it works. You might want to do this outside since the graphite can be messy.
So, besides locks, I find this works really well on tools! I've used it on my T50 stapler, pliers, and combination wrenches. It is better than any oil which just collects dirt and makes the tool a slimy mess. See photo of use on my stapler. My stapler was jamming, and a few applications of the graphite helped the staples slide through to the hammer better, avoiding jams. Nice!

I was surprised how well this graphite lubricant worked. I had a very squeaky door hinge that was very loud and let you know whenever someone came into the house. I decided to try a dry lube to prevent oil or grease dripping down the wall. I sprinkled some on the pin and inside the hinges then reinstalled the pin. The door makes no noise whatsoever now. Very cost effective an low mess product.

This is a dry lubricant, consisting of almost microscopic flakes of pure graphite, see photo. Dry lubricants are useful in situations where grease or oil would be a mess, like a key lock. You don't want a key to get all greasy every time you use it. On the other hand, a dry lubricant has no penetrating power, and is fairly useless to free-up something that is already stuck, like a frozen car door lock. You want to use it ahead of time.

If you have door locks that are exposed to the elements, you're going to need this lubricant. It's really nice for keeping them moving smoothly and removes the sticking problems that locks eventually get. The size is nice and the produce it easy to use. First thing, after removing from the blister pack, Shake the tube vigorously and work it with your fingers. Once you've done this, shake the product to the end of the tube and open. Squeeze strongly into the face of the door knob. The graphite will go in the lock and provide all the lubricant you'll need. You may not be able to tell that the product is entering the lock but trust me it is! If you'll look at your hands after you'll see small particles on your hands.

I replaced a door knob because the striker would not go completely in so that it missed the striker plate.
I tried other things to free it up but nothing worked. I finally replaced the door knob and love the new one.
I was going to throw the old one away, no one would want it the way it was. Then I tried the graphite. It took two applications, but it finally works like it should and I will be selling the old door knob at my next yard sale.
