This is an amazing unit - but you need to know how to set it up!
I seems many negative comments are because they do not know how to set it up. I bought one with 2 sensors - installed one in the family room, other in the master bedroom. I tried the motion detection at first to set priority rooms, but found when motion died down (say when you go to bed!) it doesn't detect motion and drops that sensor from priority. I then discovered the scheduling system - OMG! I first set up the Sleep period from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am, and picked the master bedroom sensor as the sensor to get readings from (called a priority sensor). I then enabled auto changeover in the thermostat (so it will change between heat and cool automatically) and set a temp range of 67 cool and 66 heat. If the bedroom is warmer than 67 when the Sleep cycle is running, it runs the AC until the bedroom cools down to 67. So, later in the night, if the temp drops below 66, it runs the heat until it get to 66 in the bedroom. The range for each period is totally settable. I set similar settings for the Home period and have it use the family room sensor for temp detection, and then set an Away period (using the actual thermostat for the temp readings) with a broader range - 62 to 74. You can also pick 2 or more sensors for a period and it will average the temp between them. If you want a period that acts like an overlap period, add another period, set it to run between the two periods you want the overlap, and pick the sensors you want to average out. And I have had no issues with sensor range. Another complaint I have seen is getting WiFi working. Even though it supports 5ghz, I had issues getting it communicating with my iPhone after connecting it to my 5ghz network. So I connected to my 2.4ghz network on both the thermostat and my iPhone, and it connected fine. I then reconnected my iPhone back to my 5ghz network and still works fine. BTW - 2.4ghz has a much better range and penetration than 5ghz. 5ghz is better for higher data throughput (streaming) but that is not needed for a thermostat. This thermostat system is beyond my expectations. I have recommended it to many people.

This unit had the features I wanted, namely the remote sensors for other rooms. The instructions were terrible, they tell you to take a picture of the existing wiring, don't tell you how to actually hook it up from scratch. I had to buy a 24 vac adapter to power this up and the instructions with that were better than for the thermostat. The daily programming is kind of clunky and the app makes it no easier. I just set it to a temperature and forgot about it. It does help average the temperatures in the rooms so that was my goal. The backlight is set to be super bright from the factory so the ideal thing is to turn the backlight way down or off so it isn't too bright.

My home has never been so evenly comfortable regarding temperatures. Never knew I needed this until I switched thermostats.

I love the features and the ease of integration with Alexa etc., but this thermostat has a major issue. It will not allow you to control cycles per hour and apparently it allowing short cycling is a major complaint of this unit. I wish I would have gotten the t10 over the t9.

Hi James, thank you for your review of the T9. We are sorry to hear about this. This thermostat has a -+1 degree differential that cannot be adjusted. As long as the inside temperature is not going above the set point for heat and below for cool, we can say that it is working properly. - Maria resideo

I decided to have someone install ($125) it works great, easy to set up. I don’t program so I haven’t tried that option but I’m happy with my choice. I keep my temp between 62/65, I can change the temp from my phone so it allows me to up the temp before I get out of bed. The screen has a light that has a glow to it which is nice to light up my hallway just a smidge.

        Best thermostat do far
The circulate air feature is wonderful to eliminate hot spots, it allows you to proritize certain sensors manually, is not buggy. Too smart is not necesarilly good because they are not as smart as a person. I previously had ecobee and had to get rid of it for good. Just think this, after installing this thermostat my wife stopped complaining about the AC.

Easy to use app, easy install, works like a dream to balance various rooms, remote sensors are much faster than relocating your old thermostat. I like the way the controller will automatically use ether ac or heat depending upon temperature.

Good sensors, easy to use thermostat, no Apple HomeKit
I’m generally pleased. The install was straightforward and setup was quick and easy. Sensors paired quickly and maintained connectivity after being placed far away on the other side of the house, which has metal lath cement plaster walls, usually terrible for wireless signals. Connection to my Netgear Orbi dual band wireless had no issues. The software is maybe not as flexible as some other brands’, but the HVAC control capability is quite complete for this price point, including capability for accessories like humidifiers, etc. In my setup it is used for a single stage steam heat system. It doesn’t have Apple HomeKit, even though maybe it’ll be added later. Disappointing that a new model t stat doesnt have that built in. But the sensors work well. I wish the thermostat itself also had a motion sensor.

The interface/device is fine. It's the software that's idiotic. When I'm at home on the SAME WIFI NETWORK as my thermostat, why am I being prompted to enter my my pin? Also, most of the time when I'm prompted, the number pad doesn't even come up automatically. Pfft, great "smart" technology. It may sound petty, but it's $200. This sort of terrible design and failure shouldn't exist.

System is going back. It is not ideal for a dual zone heat pump system with an Ultra Zone NCM300 control board. Has to be set up as conventional forced air to get heat and you lose emergency heat function. Also remote sensor temperature readings were off by 2.3 and 1.6 degrees.

Installed in Florida home but not able to get T9 to work with my internet. There are no instructions with the unit other than how to install ( I had electrician handle that). Spent about an hour on the phone with Honeywell and another hour + with Comcast. Will see in a week or so if what they did works. Not the easiest install and setup. Have not installed my unit in NJ. Hope I do not have the same problems. I have a T5 in PA and that was easy install and connection with Comcast.

Great thermostat - But understand how it works
I now own three of these thermostats with 4 sensors. Here is what i like about them: They do a good job of holding an average temperatures across the zones. I have an office with lots of computer equipment in it and the thermostat is out in the hall so its always a little warm in the office in the summer. By putting a remote thermostat in the office and setting it as active it gives me a nice balance. Not overcooling the rest of the zone but giving a little more cooling to bring the office closer to the set temperature. Some reviews complain about the App. I think they misunderstand how the unit and app interoperate. One of my favorite things about this thermostat is that it completely programable from the thermostat itself. No app is required to use this thermostat. Many other smart/wifi thermostats require the app to configure them. In the case of the T9 all of the set and forget options are done from the thermostat its self, like setting the display brightness and colors. This fully configurable from the thermostat, as is the time zone, main screen display etc. The app is used to controll those thermostat functions that you want/need to change remotely, like vacation mode, schedules, temperature, operating mode, sensor priority, etc. Several family members in my home have the app for my thermostats, i don’t want them having access to the basic setup of the thermostat. This is a good design in my oppinion. I love the looks of the thermostat. It has a clean modern but not trendy look. I’m not looking for my thermostat to be a statement piece on my wall. I have artwork for that. I want it to look good when noticed but not to stand out. The T9 achieves this The default display screen shows the indoor and outdoor temerature and indoor humidity. It turns blue when cooling, redish when heating and white when its off. This is configurable as is the brightness of the display when its in different modes. You can configure brightness when in use, nighttime brightness, and inactive brightness. Overall i’m pleased with my purchase.

T9 has great functions and is easy to learn to program. Love the remote sensors to adjust temperature by the room you’re in. Big negative-depending on your brand of router/WiFi it can be close to impossible to get it to connect unless you’re a computer programmer.

It does what its competition does. BUT, where it kicks their butts is the effective range of the wireless sensors. I have many deployed in a 4000 SF house and there are no range issues. Also, I don't need A***a or those other control relinquishing apps. I control my toys... myself.
