I have had this unit in my bedroom for 3-4 weeks and LOVE it! I have cats that sleep with me and a litter box and I close my bedroom door at night. I have it running almost continuously. Thanks to the reviews of others I read today, I learned the pre-filter could be vacuumed. I looked at the pre-filter for the first time today and was astounded at what I found. The pre-filter was white instead of black. I quickly vacuumed it and will be doing it at least weekly if not more. Now I’m looking for another one to put in the living room. Thank you, Honeywell

Our air quality is generally pretty good, but we have a LOT of allergens in the Texas Hill Country, so we hoped for results on that front. We were not disappointed. It's whisper-quiet in Auto mode, and it handles the air in our (somewhat large) bedroom very well. We set it to run for 4 hours every night when we go to bed, and we've been waking up without itchy eyes or sinus congestion. Exactly what we had hoped for! Also: assembly was easy. It was just a matter of inserting the air filters and covers, then plugging it in. We're very happy with it!

I have pets plus just live in a location with lots of dust and pollen. I feel that this air purifier really has improved my indoor air quality at home. This was really easy to set up. It comes with a simple "quick start" guide which is great. It also comes with a more detailed instruction manual. I like setting this on the "auto" setting and it seems to adjust the setting automatically throughout the day. It runs pretty quietly, its quieter than any of the regular types of fans I have here. I have set this up in my living room area in the house since its a pretty big room. This air purifier really has improved the air in this room and I love it! Also, this feels like a high quality product to me so I am expecting it to last me a while.

This is a fantastic product. My grandson has asthma and now wakes up feeling (and sounding) great when he comes over. I use it on high which is the loudest but it’s no noisier than a ceiling fan. I enjoy the white noise.

It works for extra large rooms. It covers 550 sq. feet. It has a air quality indicater and auto mode. It can capture up to 99.97 percent of Microscopic Allergens. Helps reduce odor and has four cleaning levels. I can set it for two hours ,four hours or six hours. I really appreciate and happy with the performance I have been able to tell a difference in the air and my breathing using the Honeywell Air Purifier. Very thankful for the opportunity of getting my home clean from dust pollen pet dander and any viruses that can live in our homes. Wow!! What a relief! I suffer from allergies extremely bad for half the year... In addition we live in Arizona, so we deal with dust storms throughout the year, which always leaves me congested and feeling miserable. I also do animal rescue, so that adds pet danger to the mix in the air. I have tried so many things through the years to help me deal with the dust, pollen, and animal dander...but prior to this Honeywell HEPA filter, I had never found anything that worked. This provides such relief for me!! No more daily headaches and post nasal drop! I finally have relief!! This thing is a beast, it works amazing!! Good size unit, not one of those tiny ones, this thing clears the room of all those dust particles. Great quality product!! I highly recommend to anyone with allergies, dust storms, or pet dander. Includes an auto setting that adjusts the filtration to the level needed for perfect air filtration.

This filter has been a godsend for my wife. She suffers from severe allergies, especially dust. We have kept this running 24/7 and she has seen a dramatic improvement in her nasal clarity. We also like that you can dim the control panel so that the lights don't bother us at night. It is easy to use, and not so large as to be intrusive. You can also find reasonably priced replacement filters which is also a huge plus.

Have not noticed the smell of summer running clothes or what we made for dinner last night. Have also been waking up without the normal congestion. Really looking forward to running this in allergy season. If I had to find one downside it would be the size. Definitely bigger than I expected, but that's on me for not better reading the description.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My whole family has seasonal allergies and it gets ugly around this time of the year. The Honeywell True HEPA 550 sq. ft. Allergen Remover/Air Purifier is doing exactly what it was built to do. The air is so much cleaner and there's a lot less sneezing going on around here since we started using it. The only real setup is removing the plastic from the filters and putting them back into the machine. I have mine set in Auto and it's so quiet. I thought with a purifier of this size it would be loud, but mine is right next to the television in thy living room and I have not had raise the volume on the TV at all. If you don't want to run it on Auto, you can choose to have it filter germs, general clwan or allergen. There's also Turbo mode, which is louder, but it's also a quick cleaning option to remove odors. There's also an indicator to advise when you need to replace the filters. Last but not least, there's an automatic shut off timer. You can set it to shut off in 2, 4 or 8 hours. This purifier has been life-changing for our family. I'm a smoker as well, and my home smells so much better now!

Right out of box, runs great. Clean air , no odors!

The Honeywell air purifier is a solid air filter. I noticed since I started using it my kids allergies have instantly improved. I really liked the feature how it tells you how your air quality is. I noticed my quality went from good to poor within minutes of my wife putting an oil diffuser in room. This unit runs very quiet and has auto off and on. Just plug in and enjoy filtered air.

Just moved into a home and was constantly getting sick. Fatigue, sleeping a lot, very watery eyes. Thought I had the virus! But although I had only been here less than a month, I noticed my return vents were very very dirty (they were new when i moved in). So I figured it must be something in the air. I bought this unit and it is showing very bad air almost all the time (red light). Now I can go to my landlord and tell them they need to figure this out. Meanwhile, I now have clean air to breathe! The unit is large but not too heavy to carry. FYI the carry handle is on the very top, you reach in and grab it by the ledge. Yes it comes with ALL the filters, just open the unit when you get it and remove the plastic from the filters. It is not loud or too noisy (unless you have it on turbo). I will say the packaging from HD was terrible. All they did was put it in a BAG and when I got it it was soaking wet and the box was destroyed, but that isn't the manufacturer's fault. Would buy this again!

We use this in the family room and I also occasionally use it in my workshop. While this unit is large, it’s not heavy. It weighs roughly 21 lbs. It doesn’t have wheels, but there’s a handle built into the top to move it around the house. The settings are Germ (low), General Clean (medium), Allergen (high), and Turbo (max). Regarding noise level, Germ and General Clean are unobtrusive. Allergen isn’t bad either (similar to an air conditioner on high). Turbo on the other hand is LOUD and emits a high pitched frequency. We can’t watch TV or sleep with it on Turbo, so we only use that mode when no one is in the room. There’s also a convenient AUTO mode, which adjusts the fan speed automatically based on indoor air quality. We use AUTO most of the time. This model has very good CADR ratings compared to others made for a 550 sq ft room, and I like that the Air Quality Indicator on top provides color coded feedback. I also like that the soft touch control panel is dimmable and the unit doesn’t beep when buttons are pressed. My other half and I are both thankful for that! The unit comes with what’s needed to get cleaning the air. Included are three HEPA (R) filters and one pre-filter (A). I was hoping to get the optional S Filter models specific to smoke, kitchen odors, pet odors, and home renovation that this unit advertises (it uses 3 of them), but I’ve learned they won’t be available until Fall 2020. Bummer! The filter models are listed on the inside of the unit and there’s a barcode that can be scanned for convenient reordering. Replacement filters aren’t cheap, but this thing sure beats living with allergies. Overall we’re pleased with the unit, which is why we also got the much smaller HPA3100B for 200 sq ft rooms.

Just what the doctor ordered. I am 65 years old and have Asthma, allergies and I have a 500sq.ft. apartment. My shop is next to the apartment and every time the door between them is open dust will enter the apartment. As you see I really need a air purifier. The Honeywell PowerPlus True HEPA 530 sq. ft. Air Purifier is prefect for my place. With maximum square foot area of 530sq.ft and a HEPA filter it is a perfect match. It is a easy machine to operate. Cleaning and changing filter only takes minutes. It is a very nice air purifier. I hope this helps with your decision. Good luck with all your projects.

Excellent air purifier for an extra large room or apartment, I appreciate the filter options and design of this unit. This is the "extra large" unit in the Honeywell PowerPlus Series of HEPA air purifiers. It is easily moved with a convenient handle built onto the top opening, very natural place to pick it up. The variety of optional S filters (not yet available online or at Home Depot) include filters for Smoke, Kitchen, Home renovation, and Pet. I intend to get the Kitchen and Home renovation filters as soon as they are available. My model HPA330B, for some bizarre reason found only found on the bottom of the box.

This is an impressive air purifier that is well worth the cost! This Honeywell True Hepa Allergen Remover purifies a large room and is much more powerful than any air cleaners I have ever had. The digital touch-screen control panel has settings for Filter check and reset, Control panel dimmer, Auto clean mode with air quality display, Power/Cleaning levels (Germ, General, and Allergen), Turbo mode, and Auto-off timer. I like that the Auto-clean mode will automatically operate at the appropriate level after monitoring the air quality. It has VOC sensors that sense the air quality and level of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds - gases that can contaminate the air). _____ This Honeywell air purifier also helps with the air circulation, especially when on the higher settings. The air is pulled in from the front panel, filtered, and then released from the top. When running on General Clean, it is very quiet. When in Turbo mode, the speed of the fan is increased so you can hear it, but it is not annoying. This purifier comes with (1) HRF-AP1 carbon odor-reducing Pre-filter and (3) HRF-R3 hepa filters. You also have the option to purchase an extra "S" pre-filters for Enhanced Odar & VOC filtering. The pre-filter will last 3 months, and the 3 hepa filters should last 12 months. I could not find replacement filters on HD, but hopefully, they will be available for purchase soon. They are not washable. _____ Instructions are included with a Quick Start Guide taped to the control panel. (I would have liked to have the labels printed on the actual panel also, though.) I like the easy-to-grab handle under the panel for lifting the purifier. _____ After only a few days of using this air cleaner, I have noticed a decrease in my sneezing and sniffling from allergies. I normally run it on General Clean, but when I use some cleaning products, I use the Allergen with Turbo mode for a while to quickly filter the air. _____ The unit measures 19" x 10.5" and is 22" tall. It has a 6-foot cord with a 2-prong plug. It uses up to 1.35A power.

This is a powerful and strong air purifier made by Honeywell that really scrubs the air clean. It uses 2 layers of filters with the option for a 3rd. First there is a pre-filter to help capture larger particles followed by 3 separate HEPA filters for the very small particles. You have the option of adding a 3rd enhanced odor and VOC filter(sold separately) for more filtration to remove things like smoke,lingering pet odors etc. but so far it does a great job without it. The front grill removes easily to access the filters and the control panel is nicely illuminated. Operation is simple ,just plug in and decide how you want it to work. There are 3 types of air cleaning-germ for cold/flu season, general clean for dust/everyday and allergen for allergies etc. There is a timer mode-2,4 or 8 hours ,and a turbo mode for the highest level of air cleaning. You can also adjust the level of brightness for the control panel and the unit will indicate when it is time to replace the filters. This unit also shows you the current air quality and has an auto cleaning mode that will operate at the appropriate cleaning level for the room it’s in. Your can run this 24hrs a day if needed to really keep the air clean. Overall it works really well and kept our cabana where we smoke cigars free of the smoke and removed all of the smell.

This air purifier is about the size expected. There are smaller but this one is rated for 530 sq. ft. It’s fairly intuitive to assemble. The instructions were looked at just to ensure proper usage. Unpacking requires removing plastic covering and plastic adhesive to a couple of areas on the face. There are a lot of tape points securing it in the packaging. The power cord is about 6 ft in length. The buttons are touch buttons smooth to the surface. They respond very well. It has a few buttons for various functions/options. There is a “light” button that adjusts the indicator lights to either high, low or off. The auto switch adjusts the speed of the purifier. The “auto” button monitors the air quality with light indicators of green, yellow or red. It measures the VOCs and adjusts speed of the purifier accordingly. The power button (center) is the largest and will cycle from on beginning at low, medium, high and off. The turbo button send the purifier into high speed and the timer button allows for 2, 4 or 8 hour operation and powers off automatically. The filter preinstalled in their proper locations in their protective plastic. This model comes with and has three filters. The front of the purifier removes by pulling away from the top with finger tips. There is a pre-filter. The instructions state not to vacuum the pre or any of the other filters. The pre filter looks durable enough it could be “cleaned.” It’s pretty solid. The other air filters are similar air filters in a vehicle. The pre-filter take a little adjusting in ensuring it’s mounted properly behind the tabs/clips that secure it. The air purifying filters have strong red tabs on them that help remove them easily since they recess into install locations. Installing the filters is a snap. Plug it in and it’s ready for use. This device has ran for approximately 8 hours for several days. Just checking filters there isn’t any noticeable dust/debris. The filters indicate replacing them every 12 months so it will be interesting to see how dirty they look after a year’s use. The filters are a little pricey so it’s good there is a one year replacement. One site has them in a pack or three for about $70. The instructions state that if this is to be used on carpet to put something down underneath as it may stain carpeting. One disappointment with this device is because of its size it does not have wheels to easily relocate. It sits flush to the ground with flush rubber pads underneath. So far the device has been ran on the low setting. This setting is extremely quiet and almost unnoticeable that it’s running. The medium is a little louder and noticeable. The high setting and especially the turbo are extremely loud. Unless it was in a close room this setting would be the least used in a room frequently occupied. Overall it’s a nice system. It’s a little pricey so taking that into consideration and the cost of replacement filters, that may be a consideration when looking to purchase. There are other options smaller. It functions well and extremely quiet on the low setting.

Honeywell True HEPA 550 Square Foot Allergen Remover & Air Purifier in Black is just what we need to reduce air born pollen and dust particles, since myself and wife have bad allergy reactions... It is designed to circulate and clean the air every 12 minutes in a 550 square foot area.. It is very quiet when running on automatic.... but can be really noisy when run manually on high.

I like the auto mode, esp. when in the kitchen

So far so good. My husband has really bad allergies and that is the reason we bought this for our room. I notice less dust on our furnitures and my husband does not sneeze as much at nights. It’s quiet depending on the speed it runs at. But overall it 5 stars for me, our room smells fresher too.
