exactly what I was looking for. I bought this to break up cement around old fence posts and also pry the post out of the ground. It's also great for kicking the bottom of the new post over to the correct position before cementing. Also any general purpose prying or breaking hardpan to use a post hole digger to rapidly dig the hole. Must have tool when working on heavier objects like 6x6 fence posts.

San Angelo bar is great for busting up concrete, but not solid rocks, even smaller football sized rocks. The typical "Spud" bar is still the best overall, being a little heavier with a flat mushroom end for tamping and a flattened beveled end for busting up rock, shaping the hole, loosening up hardpan.

Bends way to easily
I have been building fence on my family’s property and there are an un-godly amount of rocks in the ground. So whenever the auger gets stuck I have to get out the pry bar. But our trusty true-temper bar that we have had for over a decade finally broke. So I went to my local Home Depot and bought this husky one thinking it will be great! But once I got home it bent horribly within 15 minutes of use (probably 20-30 degree bend). This is with one person trying to pry out a rock. Not impressed.

I rated this bar only average because although it will do a number of useful tasks (digging, prying, breaking up things, etc.), it is not stiff enough when put under heavy use for prying. A sixty-three year old friend of mine, was prying some logs with it, and actually bent the bar out of alignment several inches. Granted, he is a pretty strong guy, but it seems that a bar meant for a task like prying should not deform under a load put on it by anyone.

This is one of these tools that you don’t use very often but when you need it, it’s a lifesaver. I actually bought this to use as a lever to help me shift 4x4 foot 6-inch concrete cover from a storm drain that had become displaced. It worked like a charm as with aid of this bar I was able to do it on my own saving from having hire someone. When finished you couldn’t even see that it had been used. It’s very heavy duty.

Best tool ever for digging in rocky soil or busting concrete
Digging a whole in Middle Tennessee is tough. Its very rocky (big rocks). I was replacing some damaged fence posts that had been concreted in. After a lot of work (about 2 hours) I was debating renting a jack hammer so I looked at Home Depot and found a San Angelo bar which I had never heard of. Reviews seemed good and suggested would be good for this job so I bought one. Returned home and in about 20 minutes the huge chunk of concrete was out of the ground. Don’t break your shovel handle or struggle with inappropriate tools. Get this tool if you ever need to dig in very rocky soil or dig up concrete!!

I had a boulder I couldn't budge that I wanted relocated. I used this to lift it up enough to put on a rock sled. I got great leverage. When I need more leverage I'll use a section of 4x4 under the bar.
