Alarm went off with no fire
I had all smoke detectors (8) installed about 4 months ago. Last night a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm went off at 11:00 for about 20 - 30 sec0nds. (Not enough time for it to be reported to our alarm company). It went off again at 4:00 am. This time it wouldn't go off on its own. This time I got a call from my alarm co. I noticed that the smoke detector has a light ring around the center of the alarm. The color was a red light and a orangish yellow light goes on about every 20 seconds. I can send you a video of the lights if you can tell me where to send it.

Reached “end of life” in less than a yesr
We had the detectors professionally installed when our house was rewired. Less than a year later our kidde app issues an alert that one of the detector has issued end of life and should be replaced. Unfortunately warranty requires consumer to play for shipping to replace.

Hello. We can help with that. Please call us at 1-877-542-5471 with the alarm in hand while on site and we can get that resolved. If we can troubleshoot over the phone, we can often choose to waive you having to mail it in at your cost as a one-time exception if we can't help you get the alarm working.

      It's easy to setup.
I think it'll be a good alarm. Hopefully, it won't ever have to do its job. It's kinda hard to review something like that without a real event happening. I can say that the install was easy, including the wifi setup. The app is easy enough to use. It's setup with my Alexa ecosystem, which was also easy to setup. The only issue I have is that I did have my router reboot every night, but I guess this alarm doesn't really like that. I would need to reboot my router again in order to get it to reconnect to the network. I just decided to stop the scheduled rebooting on my router. It has maintained its connection since then. It doesn't rely on the connection to do its job, but it wouldn't be able to send the alarm to all connected devices without the connection. Overall, I think it's pretty good, and I plan to eventually install one in every bedroom in the house.

Many features, but not all consumer-friendly
This product has a lot of potential, but it seems to be targeted at builders, as the manual is not particularly consumer friendly (lots of warnings, tiny diagrams, and a focus on interconnected alarms). The interconnected features seems to be a main selling point of this product, and because it requires whole-home wiring, it's not something you can easily retrofit. Having just ordered one of these alarms, I felt like I wasn't the intended audience for this product. Ultimately, I wasn't able to use this because my old smoke alarm is on a 4-wire system, and this is a 2-wire system, which is something I hadn't researched beforehand. In the end, I think I'll just stick with my battery-powered Kidde alarms for now! But for homeowners with existing 2-wire interconnected smoke alarms that want to upgrade to CO detection or WiFi control, this could be a good option.

      Excellent carbon monoxide/smoke detector
This Kidde (great brand!) carbon monoxide and smoke detector comes with everything needed to hardwire it into the house. Our 10-year-old detector stopped working, so this seemed to be the best choice for us as we are getting old. It hardwires easily into an existing detector connection. We really like the voice alert that is part of this unit. It can also be set up for WiFi, which we have not yet done. Lots of safety bells and whistles on this one!

      Extremely simple to set up.
I replaced my old smoke detector with the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detector. I was very pleased with how easy it was. The physical mounting of the hardware was right about 5 minutes. I unscrewed the old plate, undid the wire nuts and then put the new mounting plate back in its place and put the wire nuts on the new connector. A pushing the new detector flush and then giving it about a quarter turn and the hardware was mounted. It took me longer to find the step stool. From there, I just scanned the QR code to get the app. It installed on my phone and prompted me to create an account. Once I set up the account (less than 3 minutes) I scanned the QR code for the actual detector, joined it to my WiFi and it is done. From start to finish was right about 10 minutes. Now I am not only protected from smoke but also carbon Monoxide. I can check it with my phone and even get alerts if an event is detected. It was super simple to install and has all the modern features you would want with a detector.

Nice smoke detector with added CO2 sensor
This is a great detector and a must have in a home where you're tying all alarms together. The red wire does that, trip one alarm and all of them go off, which is a great safety feature. Online monitoring is also a must have for residences where you don't occupy the premises too often and yet you want to receive instant notification, the same way a professional alarm company will notify you in case of a fire. The connection is very good and stable with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, as well as in high traffic DHCP managed environment. Reconnecting after power failure is instantaneous and smooth without any lag. Resetting the connection in case of changing router settings is also very intuitive and fast, by re-initializing the connection by resetting the network controller, by holding the button depressed until you hear 3 beeps. There is an easier way to connect using a QR code, but this didn't work on my end due to a few security settings on my phone. The installation is possible with the back bracket and is meant to be used on a standard ceiling box, I used a low-profile plastic one and 3x14ga wiring. Technically, you can just make a hole in the wall so you can fit in the 2" wide battery housing inside, but I wasn't inclined to do that, so I can seal off any dust that may contaminate the sensors. In that regard, you need to clean with a vacuum the sensor at least once and year. Weight of the alarm is 400 grams or 0.88 lbs., installation on a fiberglass panel of a hanging ceiling may be hard without some form of back support. I was surprised the manufacturer didn't include a way to replace or remove the battery before disposal and there were no instructions on disposal in terms of reclaiming the lithium battery inside. There is a position, however, of the connector switch that shortens the batter terminal making it safe for disposal. The smoke and fire sensor is photovoltaic and CO2 is electrochemical. Both sensors are known to outlast their 10-year prescribed lifespan, but yet the manufacturer used tamper proof screws so there is no advisable way of messing with one of the main safety features of your home. With the price of this alarm, replacing comes down to an amount of one coffee per year, so it is rather negligible expense for a long-lasting precise product that provides enough feedback and safety features to increase your overall home safety even without an overly expensive integrated safety system. In terms of integration, this sensor integrates seamlessly with both Alexa and Google assistant and few of the major IFTT applications. False triggering has been balanced very precisely so that not to have your ears ringing after a burnt toast, and yet definitive enough in case of a small fire, outputting even less smoke. CO2 alarm is sensitive, starting at 70ppm which is reasonable enough keeping in mind that CO2 is heavier than air and tends to stay low, while the installation of the smoke detector is usually high up. I was able to trigger the alarm with compressed CO2, in a steady stream directed toward the alarm. The hush feature is a must have and works nice by pressing the center button, it disables the alarm and interconnected additional alarms for 8 minutes until you had the chance of airing the premises. Same feature works on the CO2 event triggering. Alarm is distinctly loud by blaring a piercing beep at 85db, so even when testing you have to be mindful and have some form of ear protection. There are some considerations that you must make if you live in area with frequent power outages and you running your power off a generator. The unit does not a built in power rectifier and therefore any sine wave that is not pure, such as sqaure, modified sqaure or modified sine wave, as well as high peak or low drop voltages, normal when you turn on the connection of your generator are likely to damage the sensor. Unlike most computers, TVs, radios, this sensor does not have features in place to protect itself from bad power, so you need to consider this when purchasing and installing. Other than that, it is a great product and very nice and worthy upgrade of the safety features of your home, office, in residential or commercial application.

        Nice smart home detector.
I got this to replace an older smoke detector I had in my house. With that being said it was fairly easy to install since I already had a spot and the wires ran to hook it up. Comes with everything you need to put it up. It's nice that it is a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, no need for two different units. it does stick out a little farther than my previous unit but as high as it is on the wall it's a none issue. I think it took me longer to set up the app than it did to install.

        Double Detection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kidde Smart home smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with app is the better way to protect your home. It has double the detection so that's double the protection for you and your family. It will alert you to both smoke and carbon monoxide with one alarm and it notifies you through an app. I love that you can turn off false alarms when you're home with the smart hush. This is the only alarm that you'll need. Setup is easy. You scan the code on the back of the alarm and place it where you need it. I love that it has such a long life as well. I won't have to worry about changing the battery for ten years. That is important to me. I highly recommend these alarms. They're easy to setup and very convenient.

          Provides a Measure of safety
This easy to install, hard wired dual smoke & carbon monoxide alarm will sound a very loud, ( 85-100 decibels) at 6-10’ away. It has the alarm tone as well as voice alerts that says “Warning, Fire, Carbon monoxide”. It also will send a message via SMS or e-mail when connected to your Wi-Fi so that you’ll receive alerts wherever you are. The installation is straight forward if you're replacing an existing alarm or have a junction box, handy box or wired outlet to patch into. It has a modular connector that simplifies installation. Pairing is easy and clearly described in the included installation instructions, and by scanning the QR code. It can also be pee see irked with other detectors as shown in the instructions and photo.

          Double the detection!
This unit is an upgrade for an older Kidde detector that is installed near the utility room in my home. It is important to me to add the carbon monoxide detection option near there because the heating appliances use natural gas. By combing an ionization smoke sensor with an electrochemical sensor, which is used to detect carbon monoxide, I can help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fires or events that can occur. This hardwired unit contains a 10-year, tamper proof, backup battery that provides continuous protection from smoke, fire and carbon monoxide even during power outages. The life of the unit begins at first power up and the warranty begins from date of sale so there shouldn't be any concern that the unit has been sitting on a store shelf too long. Do note that the 10-year warranty applies to the alarm itself and is not a battery performance claim. A multi-colored LED indicator light shows the products status at a glance; a blinking green light for normal operation, a red light for an alarm or a yellow light for a fault within the unit. I choose not to use the Kidde App during setup and did not have any problems when connecting the unit to its mounting base for the backup battery activation.

          Excellent product 2 in 1
This is an excellent unit with a simple install and easy to use app and setup. I’m already loving this detector in my home. My observations: • I added this one detector to my current hardwired set up (different brand and older) and they all already are talking to each other when testing the alarm since they are linked together with the hardwire. • This one is ideal since it adds the Carbon Monoxide detector to our current smoke alarms. I like the 2 in 1 function this adds. • Set up is about as easy as it gets. It’s only a few steps that took a few minutes. Download the app and that will walk you through the process of setting up an account and Wi-Fi. • Within the app you can assign the detector to a room and name it. You can also do all your testing through the app to ensure it’s working. • The internal battery is appreciated as this is one less detector for me to check once a year and replace batteries. • It has voice alarms in case of an emergency. • Everything worked perfect and I found the unit to have a quality feel and components. Nothing looks cheap on it. Also, no quality issues that I could find. I found this unit to have excellent quality and a robust, smart interface within the app. I recommend.

          Great multi job product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After recently installing a natural gas fireplace in my home I was in the market for a carbon monoxide detector when this came along. I was able to simply just replace one of my current smoke detectors with this device in my living room, which was very convenient. The product is very sleek, not very large. It fit perfectly where the previous smoke detector was. I loved that instead of two different products this product did both jobs, so I didn’t have to add anything extra to my wall, ceiling, or electrical outlets. My favorite feature was the Wi-Fi smart feature that allows connection to my phone for alarms when I am not home. I spend a lot of time away with work, so it’s nice to know if an alarm sounds I can notify emergency services. The product is electrical powered with a lithium backup so I never have to worry about battery replacement. But, if the device fails or the battery dies it also sends an alarm to let you know. This is a great product, and a must have for homeowners.

Out with the old - In with the Smart!
I had my faithful wired smoke alarm for 24 years but it finally started chirping and wouldn't stop. Cue this hardwired Kidde smart smoke + carbon monoxide alarm. I've been wanting a carbon monoxide alarm for quite some time now. You do have to install an app to take advantage of the smart features. This model is wi-fi capable and does require a router and internet to connect to a mobile device. The smoke alarm pattern is three long beeps with voice "fire!," a 1.5 second pause then three long beeps repeating. The red LED circle light blinks in time with the alarm pattern. The smoke alarm takes precedence when both smoke and carbon monoxide are present. The LED circle indicator light is green when operating, red when alarming and amber means fault. Kidde recommends you test weekly. Approx. 5 inches in diameter. Can be mounted on wall or ceiling. The 10 year battery activation is a one time feature. After activation, the battery cannot be turned off and can only be discharged at the end of unit life. The wi-fi features allow you to get alarm notifications if smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, receive notifications when the device needs replacing, option to notify friends or family if you're not home and smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, easily test your alarm and to hush false alarms when you're home and on the same wi-fi network. Toll free number for customer support. Includes user guide, mounting bracket, and wiring.

            Another Great Kidde Product
I ordered this Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector as a replacement for an old one. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. It took me approximately fifteen minutes to install it. I order to do a simple test I lit a match close by and the smoke immediately caused it to go off. It has a voice alert that tells you whether it is a fire or carbon monoxide. It has a ten year battery backup. I am happy with this product.

            Updated Smoke and CO Alarm
I installed this detector to replace an existing smoke alarm. Installation was a breeze. Because the existing alarm was also a Kidde, so I didn’t have to replace the connector. I could have used the existing mounting plate as well, but the new one looked much better. All you need to install the app is scan a bar code get the app and, once the app Is installed, scan another bar code connect the alarm to your WiFi. App was easy to use. It allows you to adjust notification settings to interested parties. It also logs events like alarms or test runs. I was able to link the alarm to my Google Home account. Google Home recognized it, but I still haven’t figured out the benefit of using it. Overall, a nice upgrade of a smoke/CO alarm

You will "hear" it miles away from your home.
I have an existing network of aging hardwired detectors of different brand. Several months ago I learned from another review written by fire safety professional that fire detectors of any brand comply to the same standards in terms of their interconnect electrical signals and alarm sound parameters. Before getting this detector I got another Kidde product RemoteLink and it worked perfectly with my detectors from another brand. However RemoteLync needs quiet environment otherwise it never detect audible alarm signal. And when recently I couldn't stop one of my old detectors from chirping every minutes even with new battery installed I decided to replace it with Kidde internet connected detector to aggregate both devices under one app. Replacement process was super easy. Mounting plate fits to 1-gang junction box and holes are perfectly aligned with mounting points. Nice touch that detector also has a sealing foam strip to prevent any drafts. Very detailed manual describes not only activation, but also depicts permissible locations (by national fire code) for new installations. Truly great feature is built-in rechargeable battery. You need to turn red tab to activate it. Battery performance is guaranteed for the life of detector (10 years). I also like voice notifications. I accidentally damaged barcode on the device during installation, but you also get a copy with instructions. You could also connect it without barcode. And if it ever fails and start chirping without reason the same red tab can be turned to different position to permanently disable it. App will also send you notification if connection to the device is lost (due to power or internet connectivity loss). I will start going back to work soon and feel safe to have internet connected detector at home. I also tested alarm activation from another brand detector on my home detector network and got a notification on my smartphone as another reviewr was absolutely correct: detectors of any brand simply emit 5-9 VDC voltage between red and neutral when alarm is activated.

            Easy to install dual protection
I replaced one of my current Kidde smoke detectors with this smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. My alarms are hardwired and have a different style three-prong plug connection. After disconnecting the power, I removed the old connector and attached the new one. the wire connections are color coded, so it is simply matching the red - white - black to the same color wires. This new unit uses a different attachment plate, so I removed the old one and attached the new one to the electrical box. This is a very simple project that took me less than ten minutes. I now have three interconnected alarms, plus the added protection of a carbon monoxide alarm by my bedrooms.

Works with "Most, Not All Smart phones"
I chose the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, Hardwired with Smart Features and Voice Alert to replace an older Kidde battery powered Carbon Monoxide detector. I like that a smoke and Carbon Monoxide are combined into one detector to eliminate something else on the valuable wall space. It is nice that it is hardwired and a has a builtin battery that should last for 10 years. I Liked that it has a voice alert signal to remind and alert you the status of the detector in person and on your phone. But does not work with my $am$un* 4 G phone

            Easy Setup
This is a hardwired detector, so placement could require extensive wiring, unless a remodel or new construction is in progress. I put one of these in my basement where access to wiring is easy. The smoke/carbon monoxide detector that is upstairs is battery operated, and saved our bacon a few years ago when the furnace heat exchanger cracked and began leaking CO into the house. I, therefore, HIGHLY recommend a Kidde product. However, any smoke/CO detector is better than nothing.

I replaced an old smoke detector with this Kidde Smart Smoke and Carbon Detector which omly took about 20 minutes. The detector I replacew as over 20 years old and was working properly but made me uneasy due to it's age. The Kidde detector is wifi compatible and can be monitored from your smart phone if desired. Set up is quick and easy by downloading the app using supplied bar code. The detector has both beep and voice notifications.

CO Detection, Voice Alerts, 10 Year Battery, Optional Wi-Fi Connection
This is a review of the Kidde SMART photoelectric smoke and carbon monoxide alarm Model P4010ACSCO-WF. It is powered by 120v AC with a 10-year lithium backup battery. It can be connected to an existing hardwired interconnected setup equipped with other Kidde alarms. When one alarm sounds, all alarms sound. Reading the instruction manual is essential before installation. After installation: When all is OK, a green LED blinks periodically. It self-adjusts brightness depending on ambient light to avoid keeping you awake at night. The smoke alarm pattern is 3 long beeps alternating with voice alert “FIRE!” The red LED blinks in time with the alarm pattern. The carbon monoxide alarm pattern is 4 short beeps, voice alert “WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE!” Red LED blinks in time. When both conditions are sensed, the smoke alarm takes precedence. Amber LED blinks to signal end of life, fault mode, bad battery, network error. This model optionally connects to a home Wi-Fi router and internet to enable communication with a smart phone and voice control if desired. User can receive warning alerts at a remote location. All in all, the design reflects a lot of thought. The 10-year battery, CO detection, voice alerts, and optional Wi-Fi access are significant improvements. Be aware that installation and maintenance involve more complexity than simpler alarms. The instruction manual is essential. A backup copy can be downloaded from www.kidde.com. Design life and limited warranty are 10 years. Made in China.

            Dual sensing, wireless.
I have other Kidde detectors and never have problems with them so I hope this one will be as good. It is an ac powered alarm so electrical connections are required. I like that I can interconnect it to my existing wired detector which gives me extra protection. Also, the Kidde is a smart alarm which I connected with the app and allows me to receive alarms thru my cell phone. I replaced an old alarm and the wiring was easy. When it is activated it tells you which problem it senses, whether fire or carbon monoxide and is very loud. Another plus is I wont have to replace it for ten years.

Hard Wired Smoke and CO Alarm
Got this Kidde wired smoke and CO alarm to replace the standard smoke alarm for my upstairs hallway, it is wired to 120v with a 10 year lithium battery as backup. Installation was straight forward, 3 wires black for hot, white for neutral and red to connect other smoke alarms in the house so that if one alarm goes off the will all go off, a great feature in case of a fire or carbon monoxide gas leaking into the house so everyone can get out. Part of the setup was installing the Kidde app on my cell phone and tablet which was also pretty easy. This smoke alarm also states it works with Alexa, but the link to Alexa leaves something to be desired. In reading the reviews it requires another device called “Remotelync”. After trying to configure Alexa and the Kidde app, I simply gave up on this feature, but with the Kidde app you can control the smoke alarm, test its function and see timelines of the device functions. Overall not a bad selection.

Stops working after about a year
After about a year these devices disconnect from WiFi and are unable to connect again. They flash an amber faulted light and make an annoying announcement about not being able to connect announcement. But the WiFi reset protocol does not work. So you are left with having to replace these now useless devices and the effort you put into installation has been wasted.

Product: Smoke and CO, but primarily False Alarms
Nothing but trouble after 1.5 years. False alarms in middle of night despite countless cleaning attempts. Paid for a replacement for the one that was alarming, but only bought us a few months peace. My sanity and hearing have had enough.

                  Can't recommend this unit.
Started to get false alarms shortly after installation. I was told by customer service to clean the units with an air compressor which I did (twice). This would last several months until the false alarms (always in the middle of the night) started again. The alarms happened to coincide with warmer temps and humidity. Kidde sent smoke-only (why not equivalent?) replacement units which I'm now going to install. I'll have to buy a separate carbon monoxide detector for some level of protection.
