I had great expectations for this drill, but at first the bit inserted into the 1/2 inch drill chuck twisted off. After reusing it again the end of the bit twisted off into the wood and I was not able to recover it.Seems the shank diameter should be larger and the flutes be redesigned to not bind

Bit Tastic
This auger bit served me well. I installed 6 pot lights and needed something to drill holes in the joists as my ceiling was finished and there was a second floor above. Solid build and still sharp. It even drilled through an HVAC duct... Had to repair that one. :)

Cheap product. I drilled through one stud and now the bit is dull. The metal is too soft. I can't even find an auger bit file to sharpen it with. I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow to get my money back.

I had to drill through 3 sheets of sheetrock. Between the two sides of the wall was a dead space of 4 feet. The Klein Auger bit worked great. It operated perfect and I was able to fish my wire through the wall. A well charged cordless drill works fine with this bit. Thanks Home Depot!

This is a nice long drill for drilling inside walls with hidden sill plates or fire break. I was able to drill out a hidden sill plate or fire break with this drill that was located about 4' above the electrical box I was attempting to install without any issues.

The 3/8 inch x 72 inch flex auger bit works great for drilling holes deep in walls. The flex auger bit makes it easy when doing remodel work running electrical wires. The flex auger bit also works great when having to run new t-stat wires because of how flexible the bit is, and also because of the length of the bit. This is a MUST have tool for Electricians and HVAC Installers.
Needing to run coax cable for rooftop digital antenna through attic and down wall space, I found two horizontal 2x4s between the studs at 3 and 5 feet from the top of the wall. Reluctant to spend $52 for this bit after seeing a couple of less-than-stellar reviews I decided to try anyway given that HD is good to take returns if I was dissatisfied. So wIth my 7 amp drill driver I was able to power my way through both pieces. I tried using my 3.5 amp drill but it was not powerful enough to use with this bit. Even with the 7 amp drill it took a little work, having to reverse and restart a couple times but otherwise did the trick without slippage or any other issues. For my needs it did the trick.

I had some tight spaces to work in and this Flex Auger Bit was not flexible enough. I'm sure in the right circumstances it's an outstanding purchase. I never got to use it because it wouldn't bend enough.

Great for adding electrical wire during remodelling
I was able to drill a hole in the top wall plates to add a wire after the sheetrock had been installed, and did it through the hole for the switch box. By using a fish tape through the new hold I was able to pull the new wire without significantly disturbing the attic insulation.

great tool
i think denverdude has no idea how to truly use this bit. i use this bit for running coax cables in houses and wow it works great. the sharpness of the blade is excellent and goes through wood like butter. i do wish the price was a little bit lower. the quality of metal was good. i like that it has strength and durability, but has a great bend tolerance.

Cheap materials, poor quality.
Though a flex bit is the right tool for the job, this is not the one you should buy. A good one is a time saving miracle. However, as reported in other reviews, this one is lousy and frustrating. The end snaps off in the chuck immediately and the bit goes dull every 3 holes or less. It's easy to sharpen because the metal is so soft, but of course it dulls easily. After struggling to get perfect placement at the end of a 5' reach this bit did not have the gumption to pull itself through, even though just sharpened. The bit just spins after the auger is fully engaged. Maybe I can knock it through with my BFH. They have those here don't they?
