they will sell you the Danco 6s-1H/c and tell you that it is a cross reference for the moen 1224....
they will sell you the Danco 6s-1H/c and tell you that it is a cross reference for the moen 1224. It is not an exact fit. Order the MOEN brand for $3 more.

The 1224 cartridge is only used for the two handle bathroom sink faucets. You will need the high flow cartridge, part #1248 for the Roman Tub. It was the correct Moen replacement cartridge for my Roman...
It was the correct Moen replacement cartridge for my Roman tub tapes. Pick up some plumbing grease at home depot and coat the washers. Also consider using CLR also available a home depot to clean and flush clean the existing fixture before the install.

Moen does offer free replacement of many cartridges to current faucet owners. However ordering from them is not always convenient and I needed this part in a hurry which is why I ordered from Home Depot for a very reasonable price. This cartridge is made specifically for the roman tub faucet and should not be confused with the one made for the 2-handle sink faucets. The product arrived ahead of schedule and undamaged. For my particular application, the Moen brand nut removal tool was required to access the existing cartridge. An after-market cartridge removal tool was used to remove the old, damaged cartridge. Do make sure the vent opening on this cartridge is in the proper position when inserting back into the valve body. The new cartridge works well. Thanks Home Depot for the speedy service.

Not much to say about this item. As an OEM part it fits where specified and it works. Sometimes removing the old cartridge can be a challenge.
