Disappointed
After running the unit for 8 months, it stopped heating and cooling. Turns out a coupling came loose/burst near the air handler, something that was preinstalled at factory.
Mrcool avoided warranty, told me to schedule a tech. No one in my state is willing to service the unit. Out of state hvac company quoted me over $3500 to repair.

Does not work
This product turns on but does not affect the room temperature at all. I have the 18,000 BTU which supposedly could handle a 600 sqft room but there is no change in temp. It does not feel cool or hot as you'd expect. Cost $3500 to install.
The controls are extremely confusing and there's almost no indication of response.
The app is a bit better but similarly confusing.
Currently, I'm trying to figure out why the device isn't even turning on from the control panel after a year being installed.

the fan motor went bad w very little use Home Depot refused to replace even during the warranty period. They said I need to go to the manufacturer they also refused to replace they sent me a fan motor replacement that did not work
not to mention that the price increased from $1,700 to $2,150 get another brand

I don’t recommend the company
They sell you the unit. If you need help they don’t answer the phone. They just leave you on the phone. I was on the phone on hold for 58 minutes and then I finally gave up. I would never buy this product again

Instructions fail to mention there is a plastic cap on the hose set that should be removed inside the air handler. This item prevents the hoses from moving correctly into your hole for installation and results in kinking the lines. There is no indication or instruction this piece needs removed. Template does not indicate it either so if you go off the template it will kink your lines.

Poor Mr Cool Customer Support
I had a very basic question on using Mr Cool via the App that comes with the product, but I was just told I had to call another company that handles that aspect of the product. If you want to use the app to control your mini split be aware there's afaik no way to know what the current temperature actually is. You can make it cooler, or hotter, but you can't remotely know the current temperature. Pretty poor application for our use case.

Great unit. My 3rd 12K, plus a 36K. Quiet. Low power consumption. So far all are trouble free after 2+ years. Installation manual should discuss drain connection to existing plumbing in detail (like be above a trap to prevent sewer gas issues). Only wish two things: 1) the electrical supply connection terminal block had reasonable sized screws and more space, 2) that it wasn't made in Chi-na!

It would really be nice if the suction line (where it connects to the condenser) had a 45 degree bend especially when mounting the condenser on a wall. Well made unit. Much better than most of the ductless splits out there.

Don't believe HVAC contractors, you can do this.
Only one part of this job you need to hire out if you have basic mechanical and carpentry skills is running 220 service to the outdoor unit. Around a $600 for a registered electrician do the work.
This system is fantastic. Heats and cools my uninsulated 3 car garage perfectly. HVAC contractor wanted $6,000 for an obsolete system that wouldn’t qualify for tax credit. Mr Cool is Energy star rated for less than 1/2 price contractor installed price. Tax credit = $900, About $1 a day to operate.

Terrible reliability and horrible service
My unit failed within the first year of ownership and customer service was not able to assist with figuring out what the issue was. We hired a professional who said we needed a new outdoor unit/compressor. The company felt the pro was wrong and shipped different items (twice) both times to no avail. Eventually we got a new outdoor unit, which has also since failed. I am writing it off.

We received this about a month ago. It keeps the area at an even temperature and runs quietly.
The only complaint would be all the extra hose that has to lie beside the unit. It is a bit unsightly.

This was one of the easiest installs I've ever done as DIY project. The instructions were very straight forward and I was able to complete install all by myself. MRCOOL makes a great product and I would recommend it to anyone looking for simple cooling/heat solution. I installed this unit on a 450ft2 garage that I fully insulated and it is the perfect size and I am sure it can keep up with the Texas summer heat.

Poor Mrcool response
error code pc 03 flashes when turned on, contacted mrcool tech support, was able to actually talk to tech after 4 days of contacting them, after several diagnostic steps was told system has leak, I followed all installation instructions, don’t know if system lost it’s charge before install but never found any leaks in system, tech’s advice was to call a hvac company to come fix it. Returning system to home depot along with 4 zone system that wasn’t installed yet
