It’s a piece of sh** the sales guy gave me the wrong one this is supposed to be for a microwave hood vent which takes a 10 x 3 1/4 x 6” I guess I should’ve opened up the microwave box and read the instructions before I relied on a so-called professional oh wait it’s a department not a store maybe he should be better trained

Home Depot review 6/7/2019 for the Master Flow 10 in. x 3.25 in. to 7 in. Stack Boots. Not recommended for range hood venting. Since I've seen reviews where people are using this for range hood ventilation (such as from micrwave range hood combination units), I want to share that this is not the best product to use for that situation. Many if not all range hoods have an internal damper flapper that opens when the fan is operating, and closes to lessen backdraft when the fan is off. The stack boot does not have sufficient vertical rise in the rectangular part and can interfere with the full opening of the damper. Symptoms will include reduced airflow and increased fan noise. Also, the corners of this product are open not sealed and are different lengths that will not sit flush around the range hood vent hole compared to the products made for venting range hoods. I recommend using one of the Broan products (search for broan round galvanized steel silver duct transition) which are available in a few sizes. Another choice is a generic product (search for Hood Transition Fan Boot). The Broan has 2 3/4" vertical clearance and the generic has 3". Check your range hood installation manual for needed veritical clearance, but either of these will likely work well. Broan unit search for: 3-1/4 in. x 10 in. to 7 in.
