This piece of garbage just fell apart on me. Literally only used it a handful of time. Put in a couple dozen screws and the cap, spring and bearing went flying. Milwaukee doesn't stand behind their small parts, it's just scrap metal to them. Cheap parts with an expensive name on them. I contacted Milwaukee with no response.

If you have a 3/8 Impact, buy this adapter instead of a Impact driver. You get 2 tools In 1. My son(Milwaukee Fuel) and myself(Dewalt XR) have different brand tools but this adapter works great on both impacts. Save space and money & get this adapter.

Adapter works great on my 3/8" Cordless Impact Wrench making it possible to use 1/4" Driver Bits that have a locking grove. The 1/4" chuck locks the bit and it is very easy to change bits. I can also adapt my 3/8" socket Wrench to use the adapter to support 1/4" bits.

There seems to be a debate whether or not this adapter can be used on an anvil with a friction/hog ring. The answer is 'yes.' The adapter must be fully seated over the anvil. There are grooves on all four sides of the adapter drive socket (these are for a pin detent). The first few times that the adapter is installed onto the impact wrench anvil, the friction/hog ring will get stuck at these detents. The adapter will have to be worked over the friction/hog ring until it is fully seated. Once the adapter is fully seated, it will be secure and there will be very little play. If the adapter is not fully seated and the tool is operated, the friction/hog ring will be damaged which will result in the adapter becoming stuck.

This 48-03-4405 SHOCKWAVE™ 1/4" HEX ADAPTER SQ 3/8" adapter has some shortcomings: 1) It accepts 2" or longer bits with neckdown radius for holding the bit in a holder. 2) A 1" bit disappears in the holder (see photos). 3) The adapter will not auto-load. The collar must be pulled back to insert a bit. MILWAUKEE website: The product info for this webpage does not describe anything useful about the adapter. Only one of the three photos have anything to do with the adapter. The reviews are for another Milwaukee tool. Not one review about this adapter. Sloppy. Once a website page is published it should be reviewed by all the criteria in a controlled document checklist to ensure correctness. HOME DEPOT website: The Home Depot webpage is not helpful in describing this adapter. It just describes robustness and fit. One sentence and a bullet item say, "Holds 1/4" Hex Shank Accessories." That seems to imply all hex bits or anything with a 1/4" Hex Shank. Not true. Misleading information. The limitation is this 48-03-4405 adapter is not made for Milwaukee's own 1" hex bits. This should be stated.

Have only had it for about a week but so far is meets my expectations for something from Milwaukee. I'm using it with the M18 Fuel Impact Wrench like several other reviewers. It just makes the tool so much more versatile. Now I can install or remove lag screws and work with various smaller hardware with the same tool although I am considering adding to my first Milwaukee tool collection. I don't do much or any automotive work anymore but it woud be great on the Impact Wrench doing that kind of work. Should have probably done this years ago. Other accessories I have from Milwaukee have met or exceeded my expectations. With the selection of four torque settings on the Impact Wrench, this tool now works well as a drill driver.

I bought this for my Makita XWT11Z Pin detent impact wrench. It is heavy duty made and it works perfectly for any “pin detent” impact wrenches. When attaching bits, make sure buy 2 inches bits because 1 inch will not lock or it will not be secured.

It can't be used it with my 12v 1/2 Stubby hog ring impact. It was wobbling so much !

The Milwaukee 3/8 in. Square to 1/4 hex adapter is a great purchase. It allows the use of drill bits on an impact wrench giving you a variety of more options when using your impact wrench. The quality is fantastic, I haven't had any issues with it, and seems to be quite sturdy. It's magnetised, and has a locking mechanism to ensure the bit doesn't come out when in use. This little adapter saved me from having to buy an impact driver. Now that I have this I have both a driver and wrench.

Works as intended on Milwaukee m12 fuel 3/8 impact. Makes for best options in choosing bits, excellent adapter!

This item works very well. I think it should have been included in the M18 Fuel 18-Volt Brushless Lithium-Ion 3/8 in. Impact Wrench. There is even a spot in the case for it to fit. It is not stocked at Home Depot. I had to order online.

I just got it so can't tell you the longevity of it but it seems very good quality, I expect it to last. I attach it to my Milwaukee 3/8 impact wrench with friction ring and it holds on pretty well, like others have said it does have a little wobble to it, but when driving screws, you're applying pressure so it wont wobble anymore. $15 for this vs $130 for an impact driver, plus this is a lot stronger. You decide.

A great find. It converted my 3/8" hog ring impact socket driver into a 1/4" bit holder / driver. Now I can use my socket driver for my bits also.

Was not able to get it to attach to the driver. Don’t know if other people have had the same issue. It’s correct size so I don’t know why it won’t snap on.

Converts 1/2 drive impact wrench to quick connect hex drive. Works great.

Was so loose without constant pressure it would slide off my 1/2 inch impact. After about a day and half of trying to make it work i finally slung it in the woods . Total crap.

So far it is working well only issue is sometimes the bit pushes back through and pops the adaptor off the impact.
