No for finished carpenters
Bought this saw for my lighter finished carpentry work. After a few days of use, while making a compound cut (beveled and uncommon degree miter) the saw slid a few degrees over. Hoping it was just an adjustment issue, I tightened the miter locking mechanism to where it required significant force to lock in a miter but that didn’t help. I was only cuting 3/4 material and was taking it slow. I’m a dewalt guy but was really giving this saw a chance and trying to justify the purchase already having purchased a spare battery for it. Unfortunately this saw just wasn’t worth it for me as a professional finished carpenter so I returned it. Also the sliding mechanism sounds and feels very cheap and flimsy on this saw. But if all you need is to make straight 90 or 45 degree cuts and don’t mind the feel of the sliding mechanism, go for it. If you’re open to other brands, there are plenty better options out there in my opinion. I always took Milwaukee for a good quality manufacturer but they need to step there game up with this one.

    Light Duty
Nice compact saw and the size is great for me. I'm using it to trim a house. The issue with the saw is it isn't built ridged enough. It doesn't take much to push the saw head around when locked left to right. Mine starts the cut then the blade moves over .010. The cut is perfectly square except for the first 1-1/2 on a 1x6 MDF. I'm using a new diablo blade made for trim. I'm going to try a Dewalt 60 tooth blade and see if its the blade and not the machine. My guess is it's the machine. It's just not heavy duty enough. It is good enough for paint quality trim work but it would never work for top notch wood trim or furniture woodworking.

      I can't believe this!
I absolutely love Milwaukee ! Everyone calls me red man. But I have to say I'm embarrassed to own this. All my cuts in my 4in base are off. I used it at first for framing which its fine for but for finish carpentry it is not. Now I'm past return window . Cable system for bevel is horrible.

I got the M18 Fuel 12" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw to replace a shop saw and be able to take it and set it up in my shop trailer for remote work. Using a 12.0 High Output Battery, I have yet to discharge more than half the battery in a single day cutting dozens of 2x4s and 2x6s. This saw operates like a corded saw without the cord. It never hesitated or slowed during any cut.The shadow line is an excellent replacement to a laser line since I never have to worry if the laser is in alignment or not. It's a little hard to see in really bright sunshine, but it doesn't slow me down since I just have to bring the blade closer to the material.Blade change out is easy and the little features on the saw go unnoticed until you use them such as the 22.5 & 33.9 integrated bevel stops. The saw is not that heavy to carry around. It is solid and is not light as a feather, but it's nowhere near as heavy/bulky as any of the corded miter saws I have owned. It has integrated handles if you are going to be moving it around a lot. You can also opt to not use them and slide this baby into your miter saw bench in your shop. There is also a carry handle on top of the saw that I have not seen in other saws.Using the dust collection bag worked far better than I would have thought. Hooking a vacuum up to it is easy, as well. There is a safety switch on the handle that you have slide/flip that is a little awkward at first when you aren't used to it being there, but it didn't take long for my hand to being able to reach in and flip & grip pretty smoothly. There are no disappointments with this saw. From building furniture to framing walls, this saw has been great to use. I really enjoy using it over all other top-brand miter saws I have owned

Ordered 12” M18 Fuel HD but received -20 model instead of -21
Just unboxed this beast. Amazingly lighter than my 17 year old corded Dewalt miter saw without the battery. Unfortunately it was too big for the newly purchased Bora Miter Saw cube table storage unit. No matter how hard I tried it just would’nt fit. So i swapped with the 17 year old fold up portable miter saw stand. Perfect fit with some minor adjustments. Assembled the remaining hardware, installed 12” blade (really tight fit), put the massive battery on and cranked it up. Very super bright LED light popped on and tested the compound slide - smooth and exceptionally easy. Almost too easy. Like very much that i can lock and track its whereabouts and battery status. Quality quality quality!

I have used them only a little bit to this point, but both have performed perfectly. If you have invested in the platform and have purchased higher power demanding tools. And you havent already bought the high output batteries 6ah, 8ah, or 12ah, that should be high on the list for your next purchase. Almost a necessary accessory for the chop saw. They really supply the tools with more power over the regular xc batteries, and are not just a gimmick. Many testimonies on youtube will confirm.

Hands down too miter saw I've ever owned. Right out of the box accurate cuts without making any adjustments to the hard stops on the bevel or miter angles. Shadow line for blade cut path is spot on and extremely visible/accurate. I've been running it with a 9.0 battery and honestly have no issues or power loss cutting 4x6 pressure treated lumber. If you were blindfolded you would have no idea you were running a cordless saw, it's that incredible. Completely worth every penny and would recommend it to all homeowners DIY-ers and professionals/contractors!

            Impressed.
Just got my saw today and I am very happy with it. Its literally a bigger version of 7 1/4 inch miter saw, so if you like that one you will like this one too. I Was a little worried it wouldnt have enough power since the guy at the release event stalled one, but the power didnt dissapoint, it feels more powerful than my older corded dewalt saw. The only thing I dont like about it is the bevel stops system, but oh well... it is what it is , not a deal breaker for me. Overall a good tool.

At $250 on sale with a 5.0 battery it was a good deal. I've had good luck with Milwaukee, I've had good luck with Milwaukee customer service center in Houston also. Good products and service after the sale, that's a hard combination to beat. One thing I don't like is it is not 3.5" high so when you want to put a board on one side to keep it level a regular 2x4 T will not work. Also you can not cut double compound cuts. So those two items make it a 4 in my book.

This portable lightweight mitre saw is a HEAVYWEIGHT PRODUCER! Using 4.0 M18 Batteries, but have used the 2.0 M18 battery and it worked just as hard, just not as long. I do restorative carpentry on historical/preservation projects and allows on sight work. Very compact. Next item I'm getting is the M18 Table saw and the M18 planer. Awesome!

Love that its light in weight and easy to move around the job. Love the shadow of the blade puts on the piece you are working with to line up your cut. That it beveles both ways. I don't have to always take the 12 saw with me to do smaller jobs. Fits nicely in the cab of the truck if it's raining or if go in a store to pick something up. The deal that I got it was great.

After researching and buying 4 different compound sliders that were 10" and 7 1/4" I settled down on the m18 fuel 7 1/4" sliding compound miter saw. Setup was a breeze and the use of plastic pieces in this saw is minimal and everything is done to minimize transit noise and increase easy of transport. From the way the handle is shapes, to the rubber grommet surrounding the place when the including wrench for changing the blade is all made to make this a better portable saw. Yes it cut true, without any blade wobble during my usage. The fencing is adjustable as you like. It's the lightest Sliding Compound miter on the market, and they got it down in size by minimizing a lot of larger items like locking levels down to pull out metal pins and pegs. The base is also fairly small but it does the job well. Now how does this saw perform? Excellently.. from the LED cut light which is super accurate, down to the fast stopping of the blade after letting go. The base pivots easily and you can change the settings just as easily. Dust Collection is much, much better than the 10" m18 miter saw due to having the dust port being right below the blade. I was cutting flooring for a condo remodel, and it lasted me throughout the entire work done on 1 9.0Ah battery. Why I docked a star? Due to being limited to the battery form factor, unlike dewalt they didn't offer an m18 adapter which dewalt offers in their 12" flexvolt saw. In addition the comparable corded saw costs just under 1/3rd of the price of the cordless version not including any batteries, which is a bit hard to swallow. This would be a perfect 5/5 other then that, so if you don't mind these issues then by all means this is as good as it gets in battery format.

This saw is pretty amazing. Milwaukee is setting a new standard in terms of practicality - maneuverability and accuracy. I used this saw on a 16x16 decking project for cutting 1x6 deck boards into a chevron pattern that required accuracy and power. I was impressed by it s overall performance especially using the 9.0 battery. I think a miter saw stand combined with this saw will result into an excellent overall performance.

Bought this to do trim work and it doesn't fail. The included blade is nice but could be better as it chipped some of my pieces but easy fix. Slides in and out smoothly and the pull down motion isn't so stiff. Dust collection is good. The clamp would be perfect if it had a quick release and could be adjusted taller. Angle detents are spot on with mine. The shadow line is perfect for accurate cuts.

If you are looking for your first miter saw or already have one, you will love this beyond compare. I could post a couple dozen neat photos, but will choose six I found superlative in function. A was amazed at connecting this to my 5.0 hp wet/dry vac. The dust collection while cutting a 2x4 was extremely close to 100% Using the included dust bag, it was certainly over 90% dust collection and probably close to 95%. Cross cutting oak was so smooth with the included blade, there was no need what-so-ever to sand it. It was perfect. I was astounded! Table rotating controls are very good and easy to use, with precision auto-locking in 15 degree increment. When selecting another custom degree of cut, it locks decisively at the degree you choose, The bevel control knob is large and easy to grip and tighten, It is very accessible and also locks your degree with decisive strength. Using a M-18; 9.0 battery, I could not cut enough lumber in a day to drain it. The safety guard works the smoothest of any I've ever used. The LED light is fantastic. I could not in all honesty find a negative about this saw. To have this kind of power in a cordless is a game changer. There are times I will need and use my large 12" sliding miter saw, but it will be few and far between when I need it. My very first thought when I opened the box with the Milwaukee cordless miter saw was that perhaps I made a mistake. I was beyond wrong. The portability and the strength as well as accuracy is in a word - AMAZING!

I wanted a dual bevel compound miter saw for doing trim work, that is light weight, easy to carry and easy to adjust. This saw has it all. I wasn’t sure I’d like a 7¼” saw over a 10” but I can say now I’m glad I got it. They say you should get 600+ cuts per charge and so far I have not had to charge the battery mid-way throw the day, another plus, I use the high demand 9.0 battery. With a brushless motor there’s less parts to wear out. It comes with a work piece clamp to hold the wood if you need that. The LED cut line indicator is awesome, it lets you know where the saw blade is going to contact the work piece you’re cutting plus lights up the work area. The light is built into the upper blade guard that allows this. I think it’s a little pricey considering you’re not getting a battery. But I still recommend this saw.

The Milwaukee M18, 18volt Lithium-Ion Duel Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw is a great portable saw to own. The saw takes the same batteries as my Milwaukee cordless saws all. This is my first sliding compound saw and I really like it a lot. The saw has some nice features like the clamp that can be moved from the right or left side. The light illuminates your cutting surface with a line where the cut will be. The saw itself is easy to use and sets up quickly for use. It is also light enough to take to the worksite. The saw also has a dust collection bag the can easily be removed to empty it. The saw blade can move left or right to 45 degrees. This saw sure beats my heavy chopsaw that shoots the saw dust all over my garage! The instructions could have been a bit more informative. I'll learn as a go along. I've only had the saw for a short while but I have a feeling this saw will be part of many new projects to come. I might even try crown molding now. Thats one way to try out the bevel cut.

I love the quality of Milwaukee tools and have been waiting for them to introduce a Miter saw for their M18 line. This saw didn't disappoint and was well worth the wait. Like all Milwaukee products it is well built with quality materials including precision machined and cast parts which allow for solid, precise, effortless cutting with no flex of the saw. It uses their M18 battery line which means it runs a long time on a battery charge, up to 600 cuts. Since the tool is cordless, the tool feel solid but lighter that my corded monster. This allowed me to more easily move it around my workshop and carry it for off site projects. The 7 1/4 inch blade is more than capable of cutting up to 2x8 easily thanks to the fact it is a compound sliding saw. The dual bevel allows you to cut most angles easily even crown molding. It comes with safety features like the blade stop feature and the dual led lights to brighten your work surface. This is a quality tool that is well worth the price.

The BEST chopsaw/compound miter saw I have ever owned. This has all the bells & whistles & is easy to transport. I locked down & rotated the saw head to 45 degrees, grabbed hold of the two handle cut outs on either end of the table, picked up this 28-lb., light weight monster & easily transported it up the stairs & out to the job site, with no sweat. I had no power available at the job site, but that was not a problem. The Cedar shingles I was cutting to size needed just the power of an M18, 2.0 AH battery. It worked for me, all afternoon. The cuts were fast & clean. To conserve battery power, I clicked on the light switch, behind the trigger to clearly see the cut area. The light also casts a cut line onto the work piece, so all I had to do is line up the mark on the work piece, with the projected cut line & make my cut. After I brought this saw back into the shop, I attached an M18, 5.0 AH battery, put a piece of 2" x 8" Douglas Fir on the cut table, secured the wood using the cut saw table clamps, pulled out the saw head to it's maximum travel on the slide rails & made a straight 90 degree cut. Without hesitation, the saw cut through that wood like there was nothing there. Extremely clean, fast & powerful. The turntable fluidly pivots up to 49 degrees right, or left, with a simple squeeze of the miter lock lever & detent lever. I also engaged the detent override knob to freely move right , or left without engaging the auto stops at typical angles. The miter lock lever solidly locked the turntable in place, at any angle. On the right side of the saw table, I cut a 2" x 8" Pine board on a 45 degree angle, again a fast & clean cut. Next, I angled the bevel to 45 degrees, while the saw table was at 45 degrees. I removed the fence extension to get the 45 degree bevel cut. I was able to easily cut a 1" x 6" Pine board, at those extreme angles. By reversing my adjustments, I was able to make the same cut, as above, on the left side of the saw table. The fences are 21" long when retracted. By unlocking the fence extensions, I slid the left & right fences out to a total of 36.25". I found this especially handy when cutting long sections of wood & making compound miter cuts. The saw head can be tilted & locked into any position up to 45 degrees left, or right, by loosening the bevel knob, below the slide rails, in the back. The 0 degree stop pin, below the bevel knob, snaps back into place when the saw head is tilted back up to 0 degrees tilt position. Nearly all saw dust was caught, with the dust bag, keeping the work area real clean. The EXTREMELY sharp saw blade & the wrench to attach it to the saw head, was included. The operator's manual also includes many great tips on how to cut complex angles. Excellent engineering made every movement fluid & easy. A highest quality tool.

Back saver.Versatile saw that is easy to drag up the stairs. Other dual bevels I have are great but weigh a ton. This saw out of the box was dead on with all miter and bevel cuts.Easy set up and was surprised at the power for a cordless. Sliced thru treated 2x6 and 5/4 stock without hesitation. As you can see in attached pic LED light is bright and illuminates the work area. Saw rollers are smooth and add to overall feeling of a well balanced professional grade tool. I have other Milwaukee cordless tools and feel their battery line gives the best bang for the buck. Dust collection is good but not great (Who's is?) with included bag.Great portable saw that performs and will save your back.

I'm very pleased with my Milwaukee M18 18-volt 7 1/4 inch compound miter saw and would definitely recommend it for professional and home use. It's durable, powerful and excellent quality. The miter adjustment is super easy and just requires squeezing the lock lever and detent lever and it moves smoothly. The bevel angle adjustment can also be done with minimal effort. The compound slide is easy to lock/unlock. It's easy to carry to the jobsite or can be mounted to a table for in shop use.

Impressively powerful for a small saw! Even with a 7 ¼ inch saw blade this saw will saw miter and bevel cuts on lumber up to 2” X 6” as shown in the video. I made dozens of cuts on the 2X6 and a 2X4 and I still had 3 bars out of 4 showing on the battery. This particular model does not come with a battery. I used Milwaukee’s High Demand 9.0 battery. With this battery I believe you could cut molding all day on a single battery. Most of the saw is made from cast and machined metal parts that are precisely made. There was no flexing or bending of parts so the saw made precise miter and bevel cuts. The saw smoothly slid along the rails while cutting. Three things I really liked about the saw were: the blade brake, the workpiece clamp that Milwaukee included with the saw, and the “cut line indicator”. All the controls, switches and locks were well placed. See the Photos.
