Great for hard metals.
The Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix Drill Bit Set for Drill Drivers comes as a six-piece set consisting of one 5/15-inch bit; one 1/4-inch bit; 3/16-inch bit all with the Quad Edge Tip and two 1/8-inch bits and one 1/16-inch bit with the regular edge. When drilling stainless steel use a slow speed so not to heat up the tip. The larger bits have an easy start tip which helps prevent the bit from sliding when you start drilling. The bits can also be used in soft metals and wood. The 3 larger bits have all have 3 flat surfaces on the shaft that prevent the bits from slipping in the drill chuck. The bits last up to 15 times longer than Black Oxide bits and the Quad Edge tip stays sharper longer.

Sharp and Durable
The Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix drill bit set is extremely sharp and durable. I had purchased a cheap set of drill bits some time ago and after a dozen or so uses, were so dull they literally would not even drill through wood. I have used the Milwaukee bits about five times now and they still perform as well as the did the first time I used them. The set contains 6 bits, 1/16, 1/8 (2 pieces), 3/16, 1/4 and 5/16. The bits have a flattened edge in three spots along the base of the bit to prevent twisting within a drill. According to the manufacturer, the tip has a quad edge that stays sharper longer and the bits are made from Cobalt giving 15x more life than black oxide. I am very pleased with the performance so far.

Sharp bits with excellent debris removal
This drill set is performing extremely well in wood and metal. The special 'quad edge' sharpening is supposed to keep them sharp longer, we noticed, that the small inner bit appears to locate the bit before the full size diameter makes contact. Debris removal in 1 1/2" wood is excellent and the larger diameter drills have 3 flats machined on the shaft, which helps to lock the bit if the drill chuck does not lock well any more. We can not comment on durability, but as received they are excellent.

good drill bit
First of all the bits are more expensive than just standard off the shelf bits, but when looking at how long they last and stay sharp when drilling metal the end price is cheaper and a whole lot less aggravating. The end has three flat sides for secure holding in the chuck. set includes 6 bits 4 of which have the Quad edge tip. Starting slow they do not have a tendency to walk. and in a deal press just go right on thru 1/4 in steel.

Excellent small size drill bits
This set Includes six small size drill bits (1 x 1/16", 2 x 1/8", 1 x 3/16", 1 x 1/4", 1 x 5/16") that are designed for drilling hard metals. These are good sizes to have a few extras on hand since most small size bits are easy to misplace or break. I have used them for drilling pilot holes in steel and oak. They cut quickly and cleanly. The three largest bits have three evenly spaced flat sections to provide a secure hold in three jaw chucks. The bits are packaged in a plastic package that keeps them organized - but unfortunately there is no cover to keep them in place. This is okay if they are stored in a drawer, but not in a toolbox or tool bag.

Good set of bits
I have a trailer with nails used to hold the planks to the metal frames. Some of the nails were pulling out so I needed to use bolts to reinforce the planks and I didn't have any drill bits that were appropriate for heavy metal frames. The drill bits in the package are just what I needed. I was able to drill through the metal fairly quickly and I didn't find burrs in the hole. I will buy this brand again if I need a different size.

Sharp Strong Bits
I ordered the 6-Piece Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix Drill Bit Set for Drill Drivers to replace the most commonly used bits from my existing sets of bits. Having used Milwaukee bit drivers, I am comfortable with the Milwaukee quality and durability. After years (or for cheaper bits, months) of use the older bits have become less efficient. The new bits fit the chucks in my drills and drill press easily and securely. I tried the ¼” bit on soft wood, hard wood and mild steel. The bit performed well on all three, producing very clean holes. The packaging was very difficult to get into and I pretty much destroyed any possibility of using the package to store the bits, therefore I will be storing the bits in the case that housed the worn bits. If the Milwaukee bits hold up as well as their bit drivers, I should get the advertised 15x life vs black oxide bits. It’s nice to have sharp strong bits.

Great drills especially for hard metal
Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix Drill Bit Set for Drill Drivers (6-Piece) These will be nice twist drills for drilling some of the hard things I encounter like stainless steel, cast iron and the occasional hardened steel rod. The unique cutting edge should stay sharp longer than the high speed steel drills that I presently use. There is a 1/16”, 2 ea of 1/8”, 3/16”, 1/4” and 5/16” included. The three larger sizes have flats on the shanks to prevent spinning in the chuck.

Nice drill bits
The Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix Drill Bit Set for Drill Drivers are an excellent addition to my toolbox. These Red Helix, Cobalt drill bits are the real deal. I have tried these on wood and metal, and they worked perfectly. The package states they will also work on cast Iron and Stainless steel. I have used these for a while, and they do last longer than the black oxide bits. This package comes with the sizes I use the most. Very nice bits.

Impressive
The MILWAUKEE 6 Piece Red Helix Cobalt Drill Bit Kit has 6 bits ranging in size from 1/16” to 5/16”. They are designed with a variable helix and a quad edge tip. I have to admit I really don't know what any of this means, but these bits work great, especially on hard metal. The package states that they can be used for Stainless Steel if you use low speeds, although I haven't had a need to use them in Stainless Steel. They are easy to start and don't walk like regular bits. The bits have 3 flats to keep the bit fixed in the chuck to ensure a stable connection. They are made by Milwaukee so you know it will last.

Sharp and durable bits
The Cobalt Red drill bit set from Milwaukee are very sharp and well made. The drill through metal, wood, pvc, The metal includes stainless steel. I used the large bit to drill through pressure treated wood 4x4s. It went flying through the wood. Very nice. I cut the packaging so that I could store the drills in a nice small tray with the paper insert on what they can be used for. This helps me remember which drill bits to use. Good bits from Milwaukee.

Excellent Drill Bits
The Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix Drill Bit Set for Drill Drivers (6-Piece) is an excellent addition to your drill bits or as replacement for so of you older bits. Yes, for you DIY’er the bits do get dull especially with uses in steel or cast iron. The technology in these bits has a Quad edge tip on the larger three sized bits that has more edge surface and angle for faster cutting. I didn’t notice it as much on steel and cast as I did on wood. It flys thru wood with those new bitting surfaces. See in the photo the differences in the tips of standard and new Quad. .

Good cobalt drill bits
This six piece cobalt drill bit set by Milwaukee is made in China. The bits appear to be well made. The set comes in blister type sealed packaging which I always find difficult to open. There is no carrying case for the bits although there is a small clear plastic tray which you might be able to use it as a holder in your drawer. The tip of these drill bits is called Quad Edge. The grooves are a Variable Helix to aid in material removal, and the web is claimed to be thicker for durability. The bit sizes are marked on the shank, except for the 1/16” bit. I cannot speak as to durability or longevity since I just received these bits. However I expect the bits to provide a long service life in my garage.

They shatter very easily on soft aluminum! Danger
I was using this kit to drill holes for Rivets in H14 soft aluminum for my hot rod. I’m about 20 holes, I had 4, yes FOUR, bits snap as I drilled pilot and finish holes. These are not safe for any kind of metal work. H14 is very soft and malleable and it snapped off a 15/64, two 1/4”, and a 5/16” bits in 0.080 H18 aluminum bar stock. These weren’t cheap and I’m disappointed they didn’t hold up to such workable material.

Great drilling bits with hex shank.
Pro: -good quality -hex shank -one extra bit for each smaller bit which can break easier than larger bits. -Nice case. Con: -Is it normal that hex shank drill bits are shorter than round shank? -It is hard to get the drill bits out of the slots. I had to chisel out some plastic inside the slots. -It is hard to rotate the slot bar. Using the drill to rotate can be bad for the drill and fingers. There is an empty slot in the right bar and I put a 1/4 wood dowel in as a handle. For the left bar, I had to mod a handle which would cover one bit hex shank. These are very good drilling bits. They drilled a bit slower than Dewalt titanium but it is more affordable and durable I think. The case is nice but the slots/rotate can be improved for easier operation. For that I removed 1 star.

      Break easily
Trying to drill pilot holes thru stainless steel metal I broke several bits (1/16" (2), 5/64" (2), 3/32" and 7/64" (2)). Also burnt out the tip of the 1/4" drill bit drill on regular metal.

1/16th bit came out of its shank within seconds.
Like others have reported, the 1/16th inch bit failed by coming out of the shank within seconds of its first time use. The bit was used with a normal drill and I was making a pilot hole for a door hinge screw. A replacement was sent to me after 5 1/2 weeks. They called the replacement a "one time goodwill replacement ".

Easy to use with quick connect 6" extension which I bought separately. The drill bit set had a space specifically fitting the extension so the bits and extension are together. That's great.

This is absolutely the best drill set for the money...
This is absolutely the best drill set for the money I’ve been able to find anywhere! You can tell by the weight of the bits that they have a substantial amount of cobalt. So why only 5-stars??? It’s the incredibly bad case. The plastic grips the bits so tightly that pliers are needed to remove them. This is clearly a marketing ploy; the shiny red plastic looks great in a display and it must be cheaper to supply. But shame on Milwaukee; the merits of a shiny display are IMMEDIATELY lost when the bits need to be used. Fortunately, there is a remedy; just invert the bits in the case. Most of the holes require enlargement as most of the bits have reduced shanks but you have the bits right there! Buy these bits, give Milwaukee’s marketing staff a wave of your index finger, and don’t look back!

Does not hold up to stainless steel
I have always believed that Milwaukee tools were high quality. I have both their 12V Cordless Impact Driver and Drill. Also have a couple of their lights. I purchased their Shockwave drill bits and impact driver sets to use with the impact driver and drill. I had my first opportunity to use these drill bits yesterday; had to drill holes on our stainless steel baking rings. The drill bits could not even make it through 3 holes. I dug out my old Black & Decker drill bits to finish the job. Now I'm stuck with expensive and useless bits. Not recommended.

            Snapped to bits
Just picked up a brand new set, a 3/8ths drill bit in a drill, pre drilled hole snapped the bit before one full revelation drilling aluminum. I want slow and the hole was 95+ percent predrilled. Look elsewhere for drill bits

              not Great
Milwaukee usually has a good reputation but these bits are just terrible. I bought these in late December and I broke 5 bits already, 7/32, 9/64, 3/16, 1/4, and 3/8 in January first time using them. Setting is on a 1 on my impact driver and I was a wood block to stabilize. I was drilling soft aluminum and the tips just snap.

                Disappointing drill bit failures
I am a long time user of Milwaukee power and hand tools but was upset at the poor performance of these drill bits. I was drilling pilot holes for hex head screws in 18-gauge metal roofing panels. The bits cut cleanly but less than ten holes with the 7/64 drill bit it snapped at the shank where the twist section of the drill starts. I thought their may have been a flaw in that particular bit, but the same thing happened with the second 7/64 bit in the kit. I then switched to the 3/32 bit and less than twenty holes later that bit snapped at the same location on the bit. I found an old set of Craftsman drill bit in my truck and used them to finish the job. I would not recommend these bits as they snap at the shank where the twist starts. I had to move the wooden purlin twice because the bit broke off and a second hole in the metal roof panel can cause leaking. I regret not reading the reviews on Red Helix drill bits.

The Milwaukee Shockwave impact drill bit set has the same quality that people have come to expect from Milwaukee, but overall there were several things that I personally think could be improved. Let’s start with a PRO. There is no doubt that these drill bits are built to last. Just getting them out of the packaging, I could immediately feel a difference in the weight. These bits weigh slightly more than one of their competitors bits. However, the weight gave me the impression that these were going to be durable and last a long time. Now for the CONs. When I unpackaged these bits, I compared them to a very popular competitor’s bits of the same size. You will see in the picture that the Milwaukee bit is so much shorter than the other bit. Another CON is that these bits do not come with any type of pouch or case to store them when they are not in use. When I drilled a couple of holes to compare the bits, nothing blew me away about the Milwaukee bit. Again, I cannot deny the incredible quality of the Milwaukee bits. What would make me not recommend these bits over the competitor’s bits is mainly the length. In addition to the length, not having any type of storage pouch or case is enough for me to pass on this Milwaukee product.

This new Milwaukee red helix 7 pieces titanium drill bit set is great for impact and drills. The tip is a quad edge that stays sharper longer. I have used this bit set on metal, wood, and pvc. It performed excellent and all of these materials mentioned before. The drillbit set comes with 2 (1/16"), 1 (1/8"), 1 (3/16"), 1 (1/4"), 1 (//16") and 1 (3/8"). Highly recommend this drill bit set.

When I saw these split point drill bits with hex shafts from a respected tool company I thought they would be worth giving a try. I am glad I did. The first thing I tested was if they ran true. They do; something cheaper bits many times do not. I tested them by drilling holes in 1/2" mild steel round stock using oil as lubricant. I used as close to optimum rpm as my drill press allowed and all worked well even without starting dimples including 1 /16" which has a standard point which started fine even off center on the steel rod. In short, I'm very happy with how these bits perform.

Milwaukee drill bits have always served me well. The tip is great for starting pilot holes and less slipping off your mark. This kit is great since it has the most common sizes that I tend to wear out the fastest. Has the most commonly used sizes, so I can replenish my main drill box without picking and choosing individual packs. Glad I found this handy pack.

I picked this set of drill bits up to add to my skimpy collection for woodworking and general DIY projects, so I can only attest to their power when drilling through wood. The "quad edge" that is mentioned on the package is very effective. It works noticeably quicker than my traditional drillbits when I compared them side-by-side. I like that these bits are impact ready, because I pretty much use an impact driver for everything except that which requires a light touch. I also like that they're titanium, I know they're going to last forever. This is a great addition to your bit sets. I'll be buying more from Milwaukee. I love their stuff!
