Customer Reviews for NO-PEST VENT 4 in. J Block or Wide-Mount Dual Door Wall Vent in White

So far the no-pest vent is a satisfactory replacement for my old aluminum one that had its door hinge tweaked and hasn't closed all the way for several years. When I cut it away with tin snips, there were remnants of a sparrow nest inside the duct where it horizontally goes through the brick-and-stick section of my basement wall. The steel duct was in good shape, so all I did was drill four corner holes into the brick, and then located four holes to line up with them in the plastic dual-door cover to attach it with appropriate plastic masonry anchors and #8 screws. Finished the perimeter joint with clear silicone sealant to minimize insect access. The outer door magnet is a good feature: Strong enough to stay closed when windy, yet is easily overcome when dryer fan is pushing air. For under fifteen USD, it looks decent and works fine. Can't complain if I get five years or more out of it. Time will tell.

I really like how this has a built in J-Channel and you have an extra level of protection against water infiltration.

I liked the two doors to keep it sealed, but where the outside cover mounts to tube very poorly designed, I doubt if it last.

Sent only ONE DRYER VENT. Ordered online - THREE! Tried several times to get Home Depot to send the other two. They said that UPS Delivered the package, so nothing they could do??? Yes, the certainly did deliver - ONLY ONE ITEM, NOT THE THREE I ORDERED. They subcontract out to a company to handle the online orders and they are terrible if they get your order mixed up or wrong. There solution - they told me to contact my credit card company and dispute the charge???!!??! Our company spends a lot of money at HOME DEPOT - this was a test run for their online service. TERRIBLE!!!

Significantly better than the old metal one it replaced. The flaps close tightly when the clothes dryer not in use, unlike my old one which collected lint and seemed to always be partway open. This design minimizes cold air flow back into my laundry room. The outmost flap has a magnetic close which keeps the door from blowing open. Also, no pest vent is low profile, so I don't have to listen to raindrops pinging off the vent hood, which was the case with my old metal one.

Much better than traditional vent. Double doors, one magnetic, helps. - You can cut the 4" metal pipe to desired length. - The end of the metal pipe fits in traditional 4" exhaust pipe, no adapter needed. - Four plastic corners of the base "snap in" into outside cover. Be careful, fragile, one of mine corners broke off. - Indoor square plate helps. Don't forget to put it on before connecting rest of the ducting. If you do, you can simply cut and put it on as "split" flange.

Last fall, we renovated a room to include a washer/dryer. Prior to this dryer vent I had installed a louver type vent thinking it would be best. I was wrong. That room last winter was like ice. The louvered vent clogs and becomes inefficient. This vent however is fantastic. Works seamlessly and the room is once again habitable. Install it as per directions to insure it closes correctly.

The J block is non standard size. Will not fit existing j blocks. I will not recommend this item any more for upgrades...which are the majority of installations.

This vent is fairly basic but the fact that it has the double doors really makes a difference for small critters and cold/hot air from getting in. This will save so much in wasted energy and cut down of drafts. Every through wall vent should have some type of system that this vent uses.

I think it will want know till next year

The plastic vent works well but the connection between the plastic and metal tube is not strong enough to hole the tube horizotal with a duct connected to it. The snap-in connection needs to be more robust or fasteners added. Would not buy again.

Great Like that outside vent cover is flush to house. The prior vent had a cage that looked unsightly. Would have liked if I could have purchased just the vent cover and not the back covers and metal vent since this was a replacement and not a new install.

Purchased to replace an old cover with a bad backdraft. Installed in a tight, awkward space so it was tricky, but in a normal situation it would be a breeze. Duct that comes with it is short, didn't work for me, so I bought a standard 4" duct for $8 which was a nice upgrade anyway. Should provide a longer duct, or sell just the cover for less. Highly recommend whether you have critter problem or just want a more energy efficient option!
