I've had the product up for about 3 weeks. Yesterday I found a squirrel INSIDE the feeder. It was hung properly per the instructions (surpassed the dimensions). The squirrel somehow lifted the lid and it stayed up in place then it proceeded to eat the plastic that connects the lid to the feeder. It may possibly last just a bit longer, but it has been chewed threw completely on one connector with the other three connectors all being chewed. I am very disappointed!

Very nice sized high volume bird feeder with a unique anti squirrel design. Durable made with quality product. The perch platforms are on a spring loaded system. When heavy animals get on the perch their weight closes off assess to the feed. It will probably work on large birds as well. The top of the feeder opens to allow filling of the feeder. This will be a nice addition to the back yard.

So far, this bird feeder has really worked well. It holds way more seeds than I like to put out during the Winter, but this Summer, I will load it up. I had to take my others down to clean and this new one came just in time. It has really nice shake resistant ports. I have squirrel resistant guards on my poles and use these types of feeders that close when squirrels find an innovative way to get around my devices, but this one also has some nicely designed ports that aid in not letting the seed out when shaken. The weather protection is great. I’m pleased with this bird feeder so far. I’m hoping it will keep the squirrels out all seasons and keep the birds coming in the yard.

Birds are Tweeting about the new Perky Pet Squirrel Be Gone Bird Feeder, so festive this morning like I have never seen! I would give the feeder 10 stars if the seed housing were glass opposed to plastic, Florida sun can be brutal. Currently placed outside my kitchen window may have to move into the shade for longevity. The frame and top are metal, stands over 16 in. tall and at the widest point 6" wide. Holds 4 pounds of a variety of bird seed you will notice in photo's. Love the large opening at the top making it easy to place food in the feeder and not ending with half on the ground. The small push button on the lid releases the grip on the cable to open and close the feeder. 4 stands can be placed in a up or down position, loved seeing 4 tiny birds all sitting on each stand eating together. Caught a squirrel wanting to eat but was not successful, he looked a bit perplexed previously dominating all bird feeders, when squirrels were full birds ate left overs. The lower section of the bird feeder is spring activated, if a squirrel or a larger bird were to land on one of the little steps it will pull down blocking the hole. Each of the 4 holes are designed just big enough for birds to get their little beaks in and prevents rain from entering Truthfully I get a kick watching squirrels using their acrobat skills as they eat out of feeders but now I have one only for birds and another for squirrels and larger birds. Smaller birds and baby birds were looking as if celebrating they now have their own feeder which makes washing dishes looking out my kitchen window very entertaining If I had to guess I would bet a bird lover designed the Perky Pet Bird Feeder ;-}

If you love birds like we do, you'll want this Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder. Its unique design is four times more shake resistant than standard feeders, so you will have less seed waste and fewer messes on the ground. Also, it is specially designed to offer defense against squirrels with its ladder-style perch system that is calibrated to support the weight of birds, but when squirrels try to gain access to the perches the ports close off under their weight. And finally, the new and improved Sure-Lock cap prevents squirrels from lifting the lid.

Not as good as I had hoped. I will give it good marks as far as keeping squirrels away from the seed. I watched and the squirrel couldn't get much of anything. But as for the birds. After watching them , they have a difficult time getting the seeds for themselves. I also wished there was a second row to feed from. 4 isn't enough. It will feed the birds and not the squirrels.

This bird feeder works great for seeds that squirrels love, such as sunflower seeds. My birdfeeders tend to get emptied out in a matter of days because squirrels know how to empty them, and I haven't seen any squirrels able to extract seeds from this feeder with its springy perches that prevent heavier animals from feeding. It has a really large 4 pound capacity. This is helpful for me because I hate having to wade out in the snow every few days to pull down the feeder, refill, and then hang it back up. The lid appears to be quite secure from tipping, with a spring-loaded button cable. The tabs that fold down for bird perches are a bit bendy - I accidentally dropper the feeder and bent one of them. It does bend back, but might break off if you happened to do that too many times. The silicone flaps protecting the feeder holes are beneficial to prevent moisture from getting in and causing seed to mold.

Wanted to replace some old feeders for the birds. Got this one because of the squirrel features. Comes pre-assembled. Made from quality materials with a nice neutral finish that looks good in the yard. Easy to fill with the "thumb stop" on the top cable, allowing good access to the feeder for refilling. When mounted per the attached instructions, it has so far kept the squirrels from getting to the bird seed. Nice feeder, should last a long time.

The “Squirrel-Be-Gone” Max bird feeder from “Perky-Pet” manufacturer arrived yesterday. Since I had researched how and where to hang it, I had already selected the tree on my side lot that overlooks the pond. Using a metal hook for hanging plants is just perfect for this bird feeder. The location is great for deterring squirrels from this feeder. And late yesterday I watched the blue jays and cardinals as they found the new feeder and didn’t have to compete with squirrels! Excellent product! Very happy with it! Thank you to the manufacturer!

They say if you build a better one, the world will beat a path to your door. If that's true, I suppose all roads now lead to the good people at Perky-Pet! What they've created is the ultimate bird feeder, surpassed by none before it. First it holds 4 pounds of bird seed, so that should keep the chirpers happy for a while. When it comes time for refilling it, the top has a press button that allows it to slide up so you have easy access to the fill chamber. Just fill it, then slide it back down. That couldn't be easier. No stone has been left unturned for our feathered friends. The four perches are ergonomically designed so they can feed easily through little port holes all around the unit. The brilliance of those perches is carefully hidden, though. They are designed to handle the weight of birds, but if a squirrel somehow makes it that far, the weight of the squirrel is enough to pull down the perches and effectively close off the feeding ports! The squirrels can't steal your bird seed! That's pretty clever! Over all it's an atractive lawn decoration that requires no assembly. I have several bird feeders, but this is my first 'high-tech' designer unit. It's solidly built for the long haul so your birds can have a happy meal all the time!

This came out of the box set up. All I had to do was remove the label, read the instructions on the back about how to move the feeder's top up and down the hanging wire (there is a small button to push in and slide the top up to add seed), and so on. I added sunflower seed, and I hung it up. A flicker was the first to grab a seed, then a chickadee. There are four openings and purchases-enough for me. The weight of anything non-bird pulls a think metal cover up over the feed hole. I like the neutral copper color of the lid and the fold down, think metal perches. The perches can be manually folded up to prevent feeding by birds. Larger birds (think undesirable ones like starlings or ravens) should not be able to feed because their weight should close the feed hole. The seed-holding cylinder is acrylic. I would not want to drop it because it may not survive a fall but then I do not know what would. It will survive the weather. The thin metal perches seem big enough for desirable birds to land, grab a seed, and go. It is not that heavy. A few squirrels tried to feed but they gave up. What else? The hanging wire is looped at the end for hanging on a hook. This is not mountable on top of a pole but it does hang. It takes the birds a couple of days to catch on to something new as in a new feeder. Also, I like just the four feeding ports; I am not operating a mess hall here. I like to see some birds and not flocks where I have to refill my feeder 2x a day. I like it. I think it is of quality construction, better than what I have seen. I can recommend this product.

Nice feeder
I have 1...and purchased another. Glass, holds 4 lbs. Cardinals will eat. But, they are timid and fly off allot. Craig posted squirrels eat from it. All feeders need to be 6 ft from trees. Otherwise your wasting seed. I would give higher rating if available.

Very nice feeder. Like the way the weight of a squirrel closes the access points to feed. The perches for the birds to land are just enough for the small birds. The birds are going wild. Meanwhile the squirrels wait on the ground for the seeds that fall.

The ONLY thing eating at this feeder ARE the SQUIRRELS!!! It's a lot of $$ to spend without the results it promises.

Outstanding product! Watched a squirrel slide off the top 4 times in a row. None have made it down to the perches. Does well in the rain - the seed inside doesn't get wet because the holes are covered.

At first, it was great, but...
When I first put up this feeder, I thought it was the best small-seed feeder I ever had. It kept the squirrels and larger birds (black birds, blue jays, et al) away; it held a lot of seed (4+ quarts); and was easy to refill without removing it from the pole. However, after about 5 months, the feeder has become a ground feeder. The rubber apertures through which the small birds fed, became distorted and permanently bent from their pecking through it to feed. The hole went from being tiny to wide, so with every peck, a large quantity of seed spills out. Because of the vertical design, the seed just runs out in a day. The squirrels and other ground feeders are ecstatic.

The Flexports are not a replaceable part.
The feeder itself using all the suggested site prep is good to keep squirrels off. But the easy to replace flexports that are not offered from pesky perk nor anyone else! They last about 1 year maybe! It’s not just squirrels that get to them and break the flexible port that spills all the food to the ground for the squirrels. It also can be woodpeckers and or blue jays that peck the flexports apart. I have to say that other than the part that you can’t get to replace it’s a awesome feeder. P

Replacement for another "squirrel proof" feeder that worked for a couple of years, until it didn't, this on draws myriad birds and has at least discouraged the squirrels, who are working hard to figure out how to get into the bounty. Worth the effort.
