It works!
Having to constantly repair the underground wiring (if you could locate the breaks!) of the Invisible Fence system, we replaced it with this Pet safe Containment System. That was 15 yrs ago and we have never looked back! Although we live on 7 acres, we were interested in only fencing approx 1 acre which encircled our house. Set-up and training instructions was easy.
I noticed that it is now recommended that the transmitter be placed inside your house but years ago it was suggested, I believe, that a porch or garage would be sufficient. Since we live in the Deep South, we placed our transmitter inside a screened porch, centered in the middle of the house, where temps rarely dip below 27*. Recently temps/wind chill plunged to -10 here, but our system never faltered!
Replacement of the collar batteries is easy & the flashing red light on the collar advises you to replace batteries. Our dogs swim in our lake and we've never had an issue with their collar receiver's malfunctioning.
By the way, we found that once our dogs learned the boundaries, the collar was not necessary so
we removed/replaced it with their normal collars. However, relapses can occur particularly with young dogs so simply change the collars out.
We have NEVER had any problems or malfunctions with our system, and I would highly recommend this product without reservations!

Fluctuation in the signal is generally due to some kind of environmental interference. This can be in the form of metal either in the home or on the property, or the result of a sloping/hilly environment. Please make sure that your transmitter is at least 3-5 ft from any metal inside your home. If you have a metal roof or siding, a wireless containment system with not be suitable for your situation.
If you live on a hill or your yard has a slope, this will also create inconsistencies in the signal field because of the dome-shaped boundary field created by the transmitter. In this case, it is always best to have your transmitter on the same level as the lowest point of your yard. If this is not possible, then an in-ground containment system would be a better option.

Love! Only one con!
We bought this system back in Dec 2021 and we love it! Only problem we are now having is that the collar will no longer connect and the box keeps turning itself off! Reached out to customer service, so hopefully will hear something back soon!

Random corrections
The product works for the most part and my dog is learning his allowed perimeter walk space but at times when he is well within the range, the collar will only beep one time and then shock him for no reason. My dog and I were sitting on the couch together as he slept by my side and then for no reason the beep went off one time and he got a full shock, screaming in pain. For this reason I do not recommend the product.

It is important to note that it is possible for the wireless receiver collar to activate when inside the home. This is due to the fact that there are many interfering signals and objects inside the home that can interrupt the consistency of the signal being sent from the containment transmitter to the receiver collar. Due to this possibility, it is always important to remove the collar from your dog and power it off when he or she comes in from the outside. When using the collar outside, the containment signal will work fine.

Signal Did Not Work
Brand new fresh out of the box and we couldn’t get the collar to pick up the signal regardless of boundary settings or where we put the box. Tried this for two hours, went online tried troubleshooting. Apparently some people have had great luck with them. We returned ours the next day.

SHOCKING DOG RANDOMLY
Our dog is an inside outside dog, reason as to why we had the collar. She woke up hollering one night do to it shocking her inside our home. It took time to turn the unit off and get the collar off her. We spoke to the company who recommended taking the collar off while she is inside which makes it hard when we are not home. So essentially the unit is useless for our family and our needs. I just think about what it could do to her when we aren't home and what the outcome could be.

Takes the stress out of owning outside dogs!
I am beyond impressed with the Petsafe Wireless fence. We have had it for a year and a half for our two dogs. Love the fact that they got used to the boundaries very quickly and have learned to love their play area.
I take them to my parents’ house occasionally and its great to be able to carry it with me. They know their boundaries at both places so well that I don’t remember the last time they got shocked.
This really takes the stress out of owning outside dogs!

We have a large collie and lab mix, and a chug.
And it works great for both. And we can even take it camping. The only down side is the chug is to smart for him self. He will stay where the collar beeps and kill the battery in a week. Metal also effects it. But other than that it is an excellent system

Test light did not ever work on collar when setting...
Test light did not ever work on collar when setting up, so we had to rely on the beep. The beeping did not always start in the same place. We could never get a fully closed path from inside the house, even sitting in the window of a sunroom, so we have to take it outside and plug it in on the deck every time we use it. It is a little better than nothing but still a huge hassle. I am very disappointed for something that costs so much.

Not for high energy dogs
I have a 3yo lab/retriever/collie mix that is very high energy. I bought this product so I could keep him off the busy road that I live on. However the battery life lasts on the collar about 2 weeks. Even fully charged there isn't enough energy to make the dog change his mind about running off. He has decided to run off 3 times in the last 2 months. As I am currently writing this, I am still waiting to hear from anyone about his whereabouts.

Great solution!
We have a 75lb golden doodle Who wouldn’t stay in our yard. Loved to visit neighbours. We bought this unit amd it didn’t take long to train him. Works perfect. Keeps him in the yard and he neber pushes the boundaries. Stays well within the perimeter. Would like it to have a slightly bigger perimeter, likely should have went with the wires system, but this was so easy to setup.

After a week I have returned to the store. The device was inconsistent and therefore unreliable. There were dead spots where no tone was picked up. Would do better to pay more money for actual underground fence.

Box shorting out
I purchased my first wireless pet containment system approximately 4 yrs ago. It worked great for about 3yrs. Then the box would work intermittently and then just stopped working. We noticed the outlet was charred where it was plugged into. A friend of mine gave me hers about a year ago since she no longer needed it and now this system is only working intermittently. It has even shocked my dog inside the house. I am very frustrated that this has happened twice now. These systems are not cheap. Now I need to buy a third one but I am hesitant to purchase another one like this. I have loved it up until now. When the first one went out I thought maybe there had been a power surge or something since the outlet was charred. Now with the second one going out, I’m wondering if it was actually the containment system that shorted out and charred the outlet. Very disappointed that this has happened twice now.

So far - so good
This is our first electric dog fence. The unit came in one piece - ready to use. It takes a little time to set up the boundaries - you'll need to decide the distance you want your dog to travel and use the boundary dial on the unit to increase or decrease the travel areas - then walk your property and place the boundary flags. It took us a few tries to get it right for our dogs. Remember that the signal is a radio wave and therefore you might have "blind spots" due to trees and other obstacles in the yard. We are on day 10 of training with our 3 dogs - I would say be patient with your pets - take the time to do the training the right way. I found the training video on the website VERY helpful as we had no idea how to even start the training. Also, be aware of the intensity of the static correction - our 1 dog needs a higher setting than the other 2. If you have multiple dogs - it was helpful for us to label their individual collar so we can be sure that each dog as the right collar on with their individual settings as the collars we received were all the same color - maybe the manufacturer should consider personalized collars for multiple dogs or at least different color options. Overall - happy with the product so far.
