I was looking to redo the small patio edging in my backyard. It was originally made with wood beams that all rotted. An contractor gave me a very high quote to replace the edging using the same materials, which motivated me to think out of the box and research for something I could do without heavy tools (cutting, drilling, etc.) involved. I came across with this product and immediately thought it would be a great choice. I’m so pleased with it and glad I went with this. For the product showing in the picture, I used four boxes of the “RTS Home Accents Rock Lock Raised Garden Bed Kit“, which came with a total of 8 beams and 8 pins. I also ordered one package of the matching end rock that came with three pieces or end rocks and one pin. I didn’t do much of the prep work due to the previous setting. This product was so easy to lay out and pin in. They are light to carry around and arrange, yet durable to hold some weight (I jumped on them). It took a blink to install them after removing the old beams and cleaning the area up. And they look realistic, close and far, unless you touch them. Shipping was fast, and all products were well packed. This product saved me time and money and created a better look. I highly recommend it!
I just put together my garden border in less than an hour. I wanted a 12' x 20' perimeter; however, I calculated how many I needed based on these being 4 ft long. In reality, they are only about 3.5 ft of measurable space. For a 12 foot width, I thought 3 would work (3'x4'=12'). It was only about 10 ft, so adding a 4th gave me a width of 13.5'. I'm on a bit of a slope so am stacking one end, two high. The 3/4 x 24' rebar works well and the finishing corner stones also worked well. I'm ordering 5 more kits to get the finished product I want. It looks nice and easy to assemble - just make sure you measure correctly.
I am handicapped and tilling up the garden every year had gotten to be too much. I bought several of these - two I put together with extensions to make an 8' x 4' raised bed. A 4' x 4' bed I used for blackberry bushes. I also bought two round ones - one I planted herbs in, another has vegetables. The beds are VERY easy to put together - I can do it in ten minutes, without any help. They have lasted for years and still look new. They look very much like stone unless you are up close. What I like best though is I can sit on the edge and do the weeding and whatever I need to do. It's a really great product for someone who is mobility impaired.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Install, Functionality, Great Quality
Looks real from a distance. It was an easier way to set up a raised garden bed edging than with real but heavier rocks. Have to wait and see if it will withstand hailstorms that we often get here in Colorado Springs during summer.
This product checked all of the boxes for me:
Easy to assemble
I give it a 4-star rating for a couple reasons: 1. the nails/rods used to hold it in place, while 'hammered', could blend in a little more and 2. I purchased the end rocks to give it a finished look and they swivel, i.e., they're loose even after they're in place.
Lastly, it would be great if there was a way to finish both ends, but the way it's designed, it wasn't possible to do that with the number of pieces I needed.
Once the plants behind the accent rocks are matured, they'll look much more natural than when they're first added to your yard.
FYI: I only needed a straight line vs. creating a box/square.
