Generator works but it leaks oil since day one. Took it to warranty shop they said we find no leak that'll be $100.00. Just got off the phone with Ryobi customer service they said it's normal to leak oil? Not a good sign buy a better brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Highly recommend purchasing this inverted generator! Been putting off buying one and regret not buying sooner. Much quieter than traditional generators. Can barely hear the engine about 15' from the house. Pretty light and easy to maneuver with the included wheels and telescopic handle. Starts up within one or two pulls and not much force required. Had the wife go through the start up process and had no problems. Installed the Ryobi App and can manage the generator and even turn it off from your phone. If there is ever a sale on these I will most definitely buy a second!

I love love love everything Ryobi and I just added this generator to my collection of Ryobi stuff…. These tool are built strong for a man and usable for a woman that’s what I love about them.

I purchased this 2 years ago. I always had trouble cold starting, until I discovered that if I just move the handle from OFF until I feel a click, it starts on one pull. One warm, it needs to be on RUN to restart. It seems to cycle on idle quite a bit and revs up every time a load like my sump pump comes on. I added two breakers and a separate outlet in my garage to feed my panel, with main breaker OFF.

Good generator cheaper then the others.

I used this generator around 20 hours before taking it to a place that had fine dirt. After that day it started having trouble starting and when it would start it would bog down from almost no load. So at this point I started pulling it apart and to my horror I found the air box full of dirt. The air filter is just a porous foam filter, it would need to be oiled to stop small particles. Tried taking it back to Home Depot as it was under three years old and they would warranty it. DONT BUY!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super simple to set up. Starts really easy. Reasonably quiet - but I have nothing to compare with, so take this comment for what it's worth. Great: Uses very little gas as I can tell - filled it up in the evening and it ran all night, powering a pellet stove and a fridge and some fans to distribute the heat from the pellet stove. Nice with the remote "supervision" on the phone app, especially to see estimated time left before refueling is needed. Clean design with everything encapsulated. Good handles to grab and move the unit. Not so great: the "auto idle control" does not keep up with some loads, and throws the generator into "overload" and shutdown mode. My example: running the pellet stove (draws <200W when lit and burning) and then attaching the fridge/freezer... The surge from the start of the compressor in the fridge is not handled well. Immediate generator overload and shutdown... Disabling the auto-idle and under the same conditions as described above: pellet stove burning, start of fridge - it works. When the fridge is up and running, you can enable the auto-idle. I think they (Ryobi) need to revisit how the auto-idle interacts with the overall power-ration for the generator - is should allow the generator to reach maximum RPM, and stabilize output, and THEN decide if there is an overload condition. Also not sure if the auto-idle and inverter circuitry actually manages to keep the output stable - later during the day, I disconnected the fridge and connected up a flat-screen TV and Home entertainment system (pellet stove still burning). Ran the TV/home entertainment system via a "kill-a-watt" type monitor, set to voltage - the indicated voltage fluctuated each time the pellet stove's pellet feed mechanism kicked in, and you could hear it from the sound of the room fans that they were slowing down temporarily before the generator caught up and compensated for that extra load (which is not very large). Before "you" say it - I use a 12 AWG cable from the generator, and the total load of pellet stove and TV/Home entertainment system was well within the stated limits of the generator... I think Ryobi should re-visit how this auto-idle and power output regulation is designed - it is not quick enough to respond as far as I can tell. When I have more time, I may bring home a power analyzer with transient recording function from my lab at work and do some more in-depth testing. Note: Had the larger inverter generator (4000 Watt) been available in the store, I would have bought that... probably a better choice as a back-up generator, with more aviable power "head-room".

I've owned this generator for awhile now and it is quite and fuel efficient, compared to other ones we've used in the past.. I unboxed it put the required amount of oil and fuel in it and then promptly put it to work, charging tool batteries and running lights here at our homestead high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.. Couldn't be happier with it's performance so far, having put a couple of hundred hours on it as of now..

Purchased yesterday evening due to a power outage. Started great, ran great. Turned off before going to bed. In the morning the generator wa sitting in a puddle of gas on my driveway. So happy I was too tired to roll it into my garage. This thing is a fire hazard.

Purchase the generator Sept ‘21 and it worked well for a few hours. Drained & replaced fuel in Dec 2022 and it would simply not fire up. Found many YouTube videos with repair instructions and guidance. Tried to clean the carburetor though wouldn’t start at all. Manually injecting fuel would allow it to briefly start but then it would quit again. Luckily HomeDepot exchanged it for me for a new one. Unit is mostly built out of plastic. We got the first one and never started. Returned to the store and got a second one that spilled gallons of fuel thru a drain hose in carburetor. These are outright dangerous pieces of junk. Do not buy this thing for your own safety.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i bought this a week a go. and i feel very happy. Because we pass the hurican Fiona. here in Puerto Rico. and i dont have light. so this save my life.

This is not to run full a house , but you can use TV, lamps and fans , no noise , is lightest and comes with a handle and when you fill it with gas about $8.00 it will last hours ( all night ) I had a big one honda 7k watts and buy this as a back up and now the honda is in storage because this one is just what we need. They have an app with real time monitoring and you can shut down through it.

First I was scared buying this generator but honestly this is very good. I wanted a generator to start my fridge because right know we're having issue with the service in the whole island and this has help use a lot. runs really well my fridge and I can control from the app the idle button and even turn off the generator.

I wanted the combo of power, quiet operation, and efficiency (inverter)…all that without breaking the bank. Settled on this unit because it checked the boxes on paper. The pics are taken at idle (3ft), idle down (3ft) and idle down at 15ft.

The fuel sipping on lower power is outstanding. It is quiet, has a great display, and the app is a cool feature. Under advertised is the handle and wheels, even though it is light enough to carry, it is nice that you can roll it.

I bought this generator for the name it came with "Invertor" generator I expected that this generator would be a lot more quiet than what it is. It's as loud as a lawn mower. The decibel level has to be well above 80. They should've just left the word "inverter" out of it. I would have been happy with my purchase if not for the false claim.

This product is as advertised, and highly recommed it for it's outstanding performance. I love it, and will one day purchase another for emergencies and outdoor activites. It's easy to operate, looks nice, and quiet. Also it's easy to transport.

brought this generator last year during a power outage, well please how it kept me going 4 days without a problem. A little noisy but for the most part worth its value. I ran my TV, a heater and my plug in fire place, refrigerator and a few lights. Thanks

So I've had this generator for about 4 months. I bought it brand new and the who muffler melted right off. No it is impossible to get a replacement part for it. And can't seem to find an after market part as well.

This works well and is great on gas. But was bought as a camper generator. Will not run anything while air conditioning is on.
