Bought for an outdoor project without access to electricity. Needed to heat shrink tubes in 45 degree weather. Even with a nozzle that directs and concentrated the heat, it barely got the job done and I'm not confident in the seal the shrink tubes made. It was an extreme use condition, but why else buy this as opposed to a cheaper plug in

Discontinue this product
I own several Ryobi products and I’m always bragging to friends about how good they are. However, this product failed to meet my expectations. The heat that’s generated from this gun is minimal to say the least. My fully charged 1.5 battery went dead after 10 min of use. I actually decided to use my blow dryer and it produced more heat and of course I didn’t have to worry about losing power. I returned the product the same day I purchased it. Ryobi needs to discontinue this item asap.

It doesn’t get very hot! I had to put it right up against a heat shrunk tube for it to do anything!

Great product
I bought this Item awhile ago , I recently found out it is great to worm up Fisher Plow female electrical plug. In the bitter cold sides female plug contract making it hard to connect to other end of plug. Slightly worming it makes it easy to connect.

Can't even melt thin caramel
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for a Halloween party to heat up some caramel wraps where electricity wasn't available. We bought a couple of 4Ah batteries to use with it since reviews said that it used up batteries. The problem wasn't the battery usage. It was the fact that the air that was coming out was barely warm enough to cause a glossy spot on it. There is no way that this thing gets up to 875 degrees.

Weak power and kills your battery
I love Ryobi tools. I have almost everything they make.. I love the quality, the durability and the price. But this heat gun is terrible. I have a regular duty battery and a heavy duty battery and I can only get about 10 minutes max. I went through five batteries just to get one job done. I think I will stick with my corded heat gun.

Overall a good tool. Takes awhile to get up to temp to shrink terminals or tubing. No ability to lock to a constant on position either. Make sure you have alot of batteries as well. It burns thru them pretty fast.

Should work great

Light weight, heats up quick, good for hobbies!
This tool is great and has so many applications. I recently used it to heat up some plastic on a dust pan set to help mold the plastic back to where it used to be to hold the dust pan in the upright position. I've used it on heat shrink tubing, on paint for removal, and to help remove some stickers on some metal items (careful, they'll heat up too). I think this is a great product and glad to have one that's cordless!

Used this to heat shrink my underground electrical where there is not electricity. It works as advertised. Took a little longer than I expected but a storm was blowing in and it was quite cold. I’m glad I purchased it. I don’t like using the torch on these connections.
