Requires a plug-in outlet next to water heater. Returned.

Bought this six years ago. Minor part (flammable vapor sensor failed) and they are covering the $30 part, but not covering the $250 labor charge to diagnose it (they advertise the 12 year warranty but labor is only covered for 3). Most of that labor charge was the plumber on hold with Rheem technical support to verify the diagnosis to get the part covered. I know I'll never buy a Rheem product again and certainly would not recommend them (and don't waste your money on longer warranty)

Do not buy this unit or any other Rheem water heater. I have had to install 3 identical units in the last 5 years. The first one was broken straight out of the box and had to be switched out. On the 2nd unit, the pilot assembly broke after a year. 2 years later the gas control valve had to be replaced. Then the temperature probe broke and this part was not in stock so I had to uninstall the entire unit and switch it out again. This unit is now 6 months old and the pilot assembly just broke! In addition, the service department has ridiculous waiting times. Be prepared to spend hours on the phone if you need any assistance.

Very bad tankless water heater do not buy customer service bad not good company

This unit installed and performed exactly as I wanted it to. More than anything else, I looked for something with electronic ignition. My powered garage exhaust fan (dealing with Arizona summer heat). consistently sucked the pilot light right out of my old water heater. I transported and installed this myself. It was well packaged and damage free. It is well insulated and pretty quiet. My only complaint relates to manufacturing quality. As fabricated, this water heater did not sit level. Prior to installing, I went to great lengths to assure that the platform for this was precisely level and that the garage walls were plumb. I wanted this device to install squarely so that all of my plumbing and the earthquake straps could be predictably coordinated with the water heater. Not to be! I would assume that in the current manufacturing environment, with all of the critical fabrication processes being computer controlled, that angles and dimensions would be exact. I really never envisioned the need for levelling shims under my new water heater.

Easy to install. Working very well.

Unit is four years old and the damper has failed and the so has the vapor sensor.... There's no reason to be making these parts so poorly. I took the damper apart and there is no way it was built to last 12 years. Very very cheap plastic parts. I thought I was buying a top quality product..

Had an old builder grade water heater last 12 years before replacing with this Rheem in January of 2020 and have had nothing but problems from day 1. It started with the WiFi module, then issues with their terrible app, then another terrible app followed by being bought out by EcoNet with another app that didn’t work. Finally decided to just unplug the WiFi module only to discover the gas control valve had went bad not allowing temperature to be adjusted. Rheem is junk, replacing with Rinnai!

Didn’t last 6 years. Called Rheem..They tell me I have to uninstall and then haul it back to Home Depot and THEN I still have to pay the difference in the price from when it was bought. Well of course it’s gotten more expensive. Total joke. The one before lasted 15years.

Tried to coordinate delivery so I could be home and no one could accomplish this, very poor service

Hot water in 20 min from startup, clean look, no manual pilot lighting, peace of mind with power vent that of no gas buildup, status lights easy to understand without getting down to see if pilot is lit. Curb side pickup was spot on and prompt.

Really expensive water heater for bad quality. Multiple issues with gas valve. After contacting Rheem and they said they I’d have to pay for the labor, the parts and tank are under warranty. I contact a local Plumming company come to check it out and they will charge me around $500 only for labor. The quality of Rheems gas water heaters is horrible.

This is a warning to anyone buying a Rheem water heater from Home Depot - We had a unit we purchased that leaked from the bottom seams a year after installation. Rheem could not find a service provider (in large metro area), so our options were to take back to HD for value plus whatever cost difference to get new unit. HD does not honor Rheem warranty so we had to purchase a new unit with HD policy rebate. DO NOT BUY MORE EXPENSIVE UNIT FOR BETTER WARANTY. HD wont honor and Rheem wont help!!

Purchased in 03/2021 and have gone through at least a dozen vapor sensors, randomly find it shutdown and now every other day I'm getting a low flame signal so probably need to clean the sensor or replace it, on a unit that's only 2.5 years old. As others mentioned, the econet addon is useless, all you can do is change temperature and see wifi signal (which is a whole different issue) otherwise it wont tell you if there's an issue (other than leak but the probe is crap so mines disconnected)

Needed a new hot water heater; was familiar with Rheem, so chose that brand. Easy on-line and pick with HD.

Quality water heater. Like that it has insulation around the tank that you can see from looking inside at the bottom. Great features like wifi control (sold separately). No pilot light is great, only downside is when power goes out you don't have hot water. Very easy to install, just make sure you have a 120v outlet.

Good hot water, and energy star rated. 12 year warranty, I'm happy

The "easy replacement" was too tall to fit in the hall heater closet. Wish the electronic gas control was available w/o the power damper.

Purchased to replace my leaking water heater. Seems like a good water heater. Easy to install. It took two people to get in into place but after that it was a breeze. Have had it for a few weeks and it is doing what it was supposed to do. So far so good.
