I used this product to patch/repair damaged areas of the refractory panels. The areas included chips caused by fireplace tools (poker) and spots on the bottom panel where it had deteriorated from age/use. The product was easy to work with and adhered very well. I noticed that it does exhibit some shrinkage upon drying. Of course, following the surface preparation instructions prior to application is key. I highly recommend the product.

Easy product to apply.

Used this to fill a gap between the fireplace and the glass door frame that was leaking smoke. It worked perfectly, really holds up to the heat, and filled the small gap around the doors.

Filled the gaps in the firebrick as described.

Not really suitable for repointing.fireplace bricks when there is anything but very limited damage to the mortar. I returned the product after reading its limitations on the caulking tube and had a mason do the work.

Looked like black silicon. Not sure whether this is fire rated - but am trusting that this will perform well and will not burn or have noxious smells when the gas fireplace that I just installed turns on. Putting an average rating until I get a chance to test.
